  • Sun., Sept. 8 – Season Debut of Primetime’s #1 Show: Sunday Night Football (NBC, Peacock)

Peacock’s Exclusive NFL Game from São Paulo Follows Its AFC Wild Card Game in January, the Most-Streamed Event in U.S. History

STAMFORD, Conn. – March 26, 2024 – Peacock will be the exclusive national home of the NFL’s first-ever regular-season game in Brazil, streaming in primetime on Friday, Sept. 6, it was announced today by NBCUniversal and the NFL.

The game, which will be played in São Paulo, marks the third Peacock exclusive NFL game following the Bills-Chargers regular season game in December 2023 and the Dolphins-Chiefs AFC Wild Card game in January 2024, which delivered the largest streaming audience in U.S. history.

The Philadelphia Eagles, the 2022 NFC Champion and tied for best in the NFL with 25 regular-season wins over the past two seasons, are the first team announced for the game at Corinthians Arena – which also served as a venue for the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The Eagles’ opponent will be announced at a later date.

The Peacock exclusive NFL game from São Paulo on Friday night will follow the Thursday night (Sept. 5) NFL Kickoff game on NBC and Peacock, and marks the first Friday game on the NFL’s opening weekend since 1970 (Cardinals at Rams, 9/18/70).

In early September, Peacock will feature four consecutive nights of primetime football:

    • Thurs., Sept. 5 — NFL Kickoff Game (NBC, Peacock)
    • Fri., Sept. 6 — Peacock Exclusive NFL Game from São Paulo, Brazil
    • Sat., Sept. 7 – Big Ten Saturday Night (NBC, Peacock)
    • Sun., Sept. 8 – Season Debut of Primetime’s #1 Show: Sunday Night Football (NBC, Peacock)

“It’s exciting for Peacock to exclusively showcase the NFL’s first-ever regular-season game in Brazil as part of NBC Sports’ unprecedented presentation of three primetime games on the NFL’s opening weekend,” said Rick Cordella, President, NBC Sports. “Peacock continues to deliver the best experience in sports streaming, as this game will follow this summer’s Paris Olympics and Paralympics, which will have every event live streamed on the service.”

“As media consumption habits evolve, the NFL continues to work with our partners to put our games on digital platforms where our fans are increasingly spending their time,” said Hans Schroeder, NFL Executive Vice President of Media Distribution. “The historic Wild Card game on Peacock in January was a viewership success and we look forward to continuing our strong streaming distribution with the opening weekend game in Brazil on Peacock.”

The Peacock exclusive regular season game will be broadcast on NBC stations in the competing team cities, and available on mobile devices with NFL+. The NFL is the only sports league that presents all regular-season and postseason games on free, over-the-air television in local markets.

Peacock will once again stream all NBC Sunday Night Football games in 2024, including the playoffs, and the Football Night in America studio show. The exclusive Peacock Sunday Night Football Final returns with expanded postgame coverage following SNF each week.

The Peacock Exclusive AFC Wild Card game (1/13/24) – the NFL’s first-ever exclusively live streamed playoff game – is the most-streamed event ever in the U.S., reaching a total of 32.1 million viewers and delivering an average audience (AMA) of approximately 23 million viewers across Peacock, NBC stations in Miami and Kansas City, and on mobile with NFL+, according to official Nielsen data.

Peacock’s expansive sports programming features live coverage including Sunday Night Football, Big Ten Football and Basketball, Notre Dame Football, Olympic and Paralympic Games, Premier League, NASCAR, NTT IndyCar Series, golf, and much more. Peacock also offers daily sports programming on the NBC Sports channel.

NBC TELEVISION NETWORK’S LIVE COVERAGE OF 2024 PARIS OLYMPICS OPENING CEREMONY TO MAKE IMAX DEBUT

March 22, 2024 By admin

Olympic Games Paris 2024’s Spectacular Event on Paris’ River Seine to be Presented across More Than 150 IMAX Screens Nationwide for the First Time Ever

STAMFORD, Conn. and NEW YORK, New York – March 22, 2024 – The NBC television network will extend its live coverage of the 2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony to IMAX locations nationwide on Friday, July 26 — the first time ever the global event will be presented live in IMAX, it was announced today.

The plans for the Opening Ceremony are unlike any other. The first-ever Summer Olympic opening ceremony not held in a stadium, the organizers are turning one of the world’s most famous waterways, the River Seine, into the world’s biggest theatrical stage. Instead of walking into a stadium, a four-mile-long flotilla of nearly 100 boats will carry thousands of athletes from more than 200 countries past hundreds of thousands of spectators seated on the banks of the Seine. The river parade will follow the course of the Seine past the iconic sites of Paris, from Austerlitz Bridge, beside the Jardin des Plantes, crossing through central Paris and finishing in front of the Trocadéro, where the final elements of the show and ceremony will take place.

IMAX will present NBC’s live coverage of this summer’s Opening Ceremony to more than 150 IMAX locations throughout the United States, providing fans with a unique and immersive theatre experience to enjoy what promises to be one of the most spectacular Opening Ceremonies in Olympic history.

Last week, it was announced that Emmy Award-winning talk show host and Grammy Award-winning artist Kelly Clarkson and Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback and two-time Super Bowl champion Peyton Manning will join two-time Sports Emmy Award-winner and NBC Olympics primetime host Mike Tirico to host NBCUniversal’s coverage of the Opening Ceremony.

“We look forward to providing our Opening Ceremony coverage to audiences at IMAX locations across the country, sharing in this historic moment as the world regathers to witness the spectacular beginning of 16 days of athletic greatness against the backdrop of one of the most beautiful cities in the world,” said Gary Zenkel, President, NBC Olympics.

“We are excited to extend NBC’s coverage of the Opening Ceremony to IMAX theatres across the U.S., allowing fans to gather and watch the highly-anticipated and awe-inspiring start to the Paris Olympic Games this July,” said Rich Gelfond, CEO of IMAX.

On March 29, an NBCUniversal promotional trailer for its coverage of the 2024 Paris Olympics will begin to run in IMAX theatres nationwide. Tickets will be available for purchase at local IMAX locations and on Fandango this summer.   In Paris this summer, the world’s greatest athletes will compete against the backdrop of one of the most beautiful cities in the world where the modern Olympic Games were conceived 130 years ago. This will be the third time Paris has hosted the Olympics (1900 and 1924), tying London for the most as a Summer Games host. Los Angeles (1932, 1984) will tie those two cities when it hosts the first Summer Games in the U.S. in 32 years in 2028.

NBCUniversal previously announced that the NBC broadcast network and streaming service Peacock will be the company’s primary platforms for its coverage of the Olympic Games Paris 2024, scheduled for July 26-Aug. 11, 2024. Click here for more programming information and here for information about the Paralympics, which will take place Aug. 28-Sept. 8.

NBCUniversal owns the U.S. media rights to the Olympic Games through 2032, which are scheduled for Paris (2024), Milan Cortina (2026), Los Angeles (2028) and Brisbane (2032). The host city for the 2030 Olympic Winter Games has not yet been chosen.

PEACOCK UNVEILS ITS VIEWING EXPERIENCE FOR OLYMPIC GAMES PARIS 2024

March 20, 2024 By admin

Industry-First Interactive Features Ensure Fans Can Discover Every Moment and Every Medal on the Most Comprehensive Olympics Streaming Destination in U.S. Media History

New Features Peacock Live Actions and Peacock Discovery Multiview Provide Unprecedented Viewer Control During Event Coverage

NEW YORK – March 20, 2024 – Peacock’s viewing experience for the Olympic Games Paris 2024, which will be the most comprehensive streaming destination ever for the Olympic Games, will introduce industry-first interactive features that help fans navigate more than 5,000 hours of live coverage throughout the Games, including all 329 medal events. Unveiled today at NBCUniversal’s One24 technology conference, Peacock’s extensive Olympics hub will feature curated rails of live and upcoming events, dedicated in-depth hubs for nearly 40 sports, medal standings and an interactive schedule. Peacock also unveiled two new features coming to the platform – Peacock Live Actions and Peacock Discovery Multiview – that will help fans discover and engage with the Olympics and other live programming in new, innovative ways.

“The Paris Olympics will mark another major milestone for Peacock’s leadership in live streaming with an unprecedented viewing experience that demonstrates our commitment to our customers, clients and partners,” said Kelly Campbell, President, Peacock and Direct-to-Consumer, NBCUniversal. “Following the Games, these new features will extend to other live events, joining the growing list of interactive elements and ad innovations that continue to set Peacock apart.”

Peacock Live Actions

Peacock Live Actions is a new interactive tool that lets fans choose their own viewing journey during live and primetime coverage, and follow the events they are most interested in watching.

Peacock Live Actions will come to life in programming like Gold Zone, the recently announced live whip-around show that will provide rolling coverage from 7am to 5pm ET, guiding viewers to the best and most exciting moments happening during the Paris Olympic Games. Through Peacock Live Actions on-screen prompts, fans watching Gold Zone will now be able to choose to continue watching the live feed of a specific event instead of staying with the Gold Zone coverage.

Peacock Live Actions will also allow viewers watching the NBC Primetime simulcast to add upcoming events to their “My Stuff” list to watch later.

Peacock Discovery Multiview

With up to 40 live events happening simultaneously, Peacock Discovery Multiview will offer an industry-first, enhanced four-view experience that helps users navigate to the most important events, with real-time on-screen descriptions from NBCU’s Olympic experts informing viewers about what is at stake, such as a medal event, an elimination risk or a first-time Olympian. In addition, a traditional Multiview experience featuring up to four matches on one screen will be available for sports such as soccer, track & field and wrestling.

Both Multiview options will allow users to move around the screens, switch the audio and click through to watch full screen and dive deeper into the action. Peacock will offer up to four Multiview options concurrently, giving fans the opportunity to choose what they are most excited to watch.

Peacock will be the first standalone streaming app to offer a Multiview experience across smart TVs, streaming devices, web browsers and tablets. Peacock will begin testing this feature during select events this spring.

Experience the Olympic Games Paris 2024 on Peacock

In addition to these new features, Peacock will provide fans with an intuitive, easy-to-navigate Olympics destination that will allow every kind of fan – both avid and casual – to view the Olympic Games in the way that best fits their interests or timetable. Features of Peacock’s Olympics hub include:

    • Spotlight of the biggest live events prominently displayed at the top of the screen when fans enter the Olympics hub.
    • A “Browse by Sport” rail to allow fans to quickly find all live events, highlights and replays for their favorite competitions. Fans can easily jump between different sports hubs through connected navigation at the top of their screens.
    • A new “Search by Star Athlete” feature, so fans can find live events or replays that include their favorite athletes, regardless of whether they are an individual competitor or part of a team sport. As in previous Olympics, fans can also search by sport, event and team, including country names and three-letter country codes.
    • An enhanced Interactive Schedule, so fans can plan their Olympics viewing day-by-day, join events live, watch replays or add events to their “My Stuff” to watch later.
    • Up-to-date Medal Standings sponsored by Delta for fans to keep track of every country competing in Paris.
    • Peacock’s award-winning “Catch Up with Key Plays,” which allows fans to easily access key moments when joining an in-progress game or revisit their favorite plays, will now be available for basketball and golf, in addition to soccer.

As the most comprehensive Olympics streaming destination in U.S. media history, Peacock will feature live coverage of all events, all NBC programming, replays, clips and more.

NBCUniversal previously announced that NBC and Peacock will be the company’s primary platforms for its coverage of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, scheduled for July 26-Aug. 11. Click here for more programming information and here for information about the Paralympics, which will take place Aug. 28-Sept. 8.

NBC and Peacock will present live coverage of the Opening Ceremony on Friday, July 26, beginning at noon ET. Telemundo will provide Spanish-language coverage beginning at 1 p.m. ET. Primetime coverage will begin at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT on NBC and Peacock.

“GOLD ZONE” WHIP-AROUND SHOW MAKES PEACOCK DEBUT DURING NBCUNIVERSAL’S COVERAGE OF OLYMPIC GAMES PARIS 2024

March 20, 2024 By admin

SCOTT HANSON, ANDREW SICILIANO, MATT ISEMAN AND AKBAR GBAJABIAMILA TO HOST

Gold Zone to Guide Viewers to the Best and Most Exciting Live Moments During Paris 2024

Hanson to Open Each Day’s Coverage, Followed by Siciliano, with Iseman and Gbajabiamila Co-Hosting Day’s Concluding Coverage; Special Guests to Join Hosts Often Throughout the Day

STAMFORD, Conn. – March 20, 2024 – Scott Hanson, Andrew Siciliano, Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbajabiamila will serve as hosts of the Gold Zone whip-around show, which will stream for the first time live on Peacock during NBCUniversal’s coverage of the Olympic Games Paris 2024. Gold Zone will stream live on Peacock from 7 am – 5 pm ET each day from July 27-Aug. 10. The announcement was made by Molly Solomon, Executive Producer and President, NBC Olympics Production.

With up to 40 events happening simultaneously during the Paris Olympic Games, Gold Zone will present viewers with the best and most compelling moments happening at any time. The daily live show will guide fans through the excitement, triumphs, and emotion of the Games, scanning all the events that day to provide viewers with the most exhilarating moments and key races, routines, and finishes as they unfold live. Gold Zone’s daily offering will provide viewers with the most comprehensive and all-encompassing live whip-around coverage of any Olympic Games to date.

“The Olympic Games are like no other sporting event with up to 40 competitions happening simultaneously. Given that scale, Gold Zone is designed to be the viewer’s best friend, streaming the most important moments in real time,” said Solomon. “Never miss a moment or a medal with Gold Zone, and who better to guide viewers through this entertaining presentation than Scott Hanson, who does this every NFL weekend, and Olympic veterans Andrew Siciliano, Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbajabiamila.”

Hanson, the celebrated host of NFL RedZone, will open each day’s coverage on Peacock. He has served as the host of NFL RedZone since its inaugural season in 2009, taking viewers through every touchdown and exciting moment live on Sunday afternoons to critical acclaim. He also is a host of NFL Network’s on-location coverage of events, including the Super Bowl, NFL Draft, and more. This will be Hanson’s first Olympic assignment.

Siciliano, a host and play-by-play announcer for NFL Network and host of the groundbreaking Red Zone Channel on DIRECTV from 2005-2022, will also host Gold Zone hosting duties following Hanson each day. Siciliano hosted NBC Sports’ Gold Zone coverage for two Olympic Games (2014 Sochi Winter Olympics and 2016 Rio Olympics).

Iseman and Gbajabiamila, co-hosts of American Ninja Warrior on NBC, will co-host each day’s closing Gold Zone coverage following Siciliano. Iseman, working his third Olympics with NBC Sports, and Gbajabiamila, in his second Olympics, served as hosts of Peacock’s Tokyo Olympics morning show, Tokyo Live, in 2021. Iseman was also a host on Peacock’s coverage of the Beijing Olympics in 2022. Gbajabiamila is co-host of The Talk.

The hosts will often be joined by special guests throughout the day. Additional hosts and programming details for NBCU’s Paris Olympics’ Gold Zone program will be announced soon. Gold Zone will also be available on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app via “TV Everywhere” for customers with pay-TV subscriptions.

Peacock will be the streaming home of the 2024 Paris Olympics, providing fans with the most comprehensive Olympic destination in U.S. media history. In a Summer Games first for Peacock, it will stream every sport and event, including all 329 medal events, and will feature full-event replays; all NBC programming; curated video clips; virtual channels; exclusive original programming; and more.
