Track & Field Coverage Continues NBC Olympics’ Record Coverage of U.S. Olympic Team Trials Ahead of Tokyo Olympics

STAMFORD, Conn. – June 15, 2021 – NBC Olympics presents live coverage of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for track & field with more than 20 hours of qualifying, semifinals and finals coverage over eight nights from Eugene, Ore., beginning this Friday, June 18 with qualifying at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN and Peacock, and continuing at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC with the finals in men’s shot put and men’s 10,000m.

Track & field coverage runs from June 18-21 and June 24-27, featuring six nights of primetime coverage on NBC. Live coverage of the track & field trials concludes on Sunday, June 27, at 7 p.m. ET/PT on NBC with numerous events, including the men’s 200m and women’s 400m hurdles finals.

This Saturday and Sunday, live track & field trials coverage in primetime on NBC follows live U.S. Open golf and U.S. Olympic Team Trials for swimming both nights.

NBC will debut the Jonas Brothers new single “Remember This” during the Track and Field trials on Friday, June 18. The song will be accompanied by a message from the Jonas Brothers and footage from some of the great moments of the Olympics and those to come.

Peacock will live stream NBCSN coverage of the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Team Trials.

NBCOlympics.com and the NBC Sports app will present exclusive streaming coverage of select field events, including long jump, triple jump, high jump, pole vault, shot put, hammer, javelin, discus, 20km race walk, decathlon and heptathlon from Eugene.

The U.S. has topped the track & field medal standings at seven straight Games. The U.S. Olympic Trials for track & field are expected to feature seven individual reigning world champions, including 200m world champion Noah Lyles, who is attempting to make his first Olympic team. The women’s 400m hurdles will be headlined by 2016 Olympic champion Dalilah Muhammad, and 2019 world silver medalist Sydney McLaughlin. Also expected to compete is the most decorated American woman in Olympic track & field history and six-time Olympic gold medalist Allyson Felix, who is aiming for her fifth Olympic appearance at age 35. Additional athletes expected to compete include 2016 Olympic silver medalist pole vaulter Sandi Morris, reigning 100m hurdles world champion Grant Holloway, and more.

STAMFORD, Conn. – May 21, 2021 – Noah Lyles headlines the field at the 2021 adidas Boost Boston Games as NBC Sports’ live coverage of the 2021 USATF ‘Journey to Gold – Tokyo Outdoor Series’ continues this Sunday, May 23 at 4:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.

Expected to compete in this Sunday’s field are reigning 200m world champion Lyles, 2016 400m Olympic gold medalist Wayde van Niekerk, 2019 400m world champion Steven Gardiner, reigning 110m hurdle world champion Grant Holloway, and 2016 200m Olympic silver medalist Dafne Schippers.

Seven Reigning World Champions Will Compete

NEW YORK – June 23, 2011 – NBC Sports and Universal Sports will present 4 ½ hours of LIVE coverage of the U.S. Track and Field Championships this weekend from Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Coverage on both Saturday and Sunday will begin at 3 p.m. ET on Universal Sports and continue at 5 p.m. ET on NBC. The event features the best professional track and field athletes competing for spots on the Team USA roster for the 2011 IAAF World Outdoor Championships, held from August 27 – September 4 in Daegu, South Korea, which will air on NBC and Universal Sports. 

The field is comprised of 7 reigning world champions: Allyson Felix, Sanya Richards-Ross, Kerron Clement, Brittney Reese, Dwight Phillips, Christian Cantwell and Trey Hardee.

The men’s competition features fan favorite Nick Symmonds competing in the 800m, while Khadevis Robinson looks to regain his dominance in this event by trying for his sixth national outdoor title. Olympic Bronze medalist Walter Dix will look to continue his successful season as the favorite in the 200m. Clement and Jeremy Wariner headline the 400m as the top two qualifiers. Wariner placed first at the Adidas Grand Prix (45.13 seconds) and second at the Pre Classic (45.43 seconds). Also participating is 2008 Olympic gold medalist Bryan Clay.

The women’s side features a hotly-contested matchup in the 400m race between Olympic medalists Felix and Richards-Ross. Felix is the current world leader in the 400m at 49.81, while Richards-Ross has run 50.98 this year. The 100m Hurdles will prove to be a tight race with defending Olympic champion Dawn Harper racing against current world leader Kellie Wells and pre-season favorite Lolo Jones. Also competing this weekend in the women’s championship is five-time USA Outdoor Champion and 2008 Olympic silver medalist, pole-vaulter Jenn Suhr, who is looking to win her sixth consecutive USA Outdoor title.

NBC’s Olympic Track and Field broadcast team of Tom Hammond, Ato Bolden, Dwight Stones and Lewis Johnson will call the action.

110th U.S. Amateur Golf Championship Airs This Weekend On NBC Sports

NEW YORK – Aug 26, 2010 – NBC Sports presents coverage of the 110th U.S. Amateur Championship this Saturday and Sunday, 4-6 p.m. ET, from Chambers Bay in University Place, Wash. The U.S. Amateur is the oldest golf championship in the country, just one day older than the U.S. Open.

This is the 15th consecutive year that NBC Sports has broadcast the event. NBC Sports’ golf commentators Dan Hicks, Gary Koch, Roger Maltbie and Dottie Pepper will call the action.

The event features the best amateur golfers competing in a match play format. Some of the game’s all-time greats are among the past winners including Tiger Woods, who won three years in a row (1994-96), Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Phil Mickelson.

WORLD OF ADVENTURE SPORTS, SATURDAY, 3 PM ET

NBC Sports presents coverage of the Emmy Award Winning World of Adventure Sports this Saturday at 3 p.m. ET. Host Pat Parnell brings viewers the fifth episode of the 2010 season from the US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, Calif. There’s no surf stadium like the Huntington Beach Pier and it remains the Headliner at the US Open, with five separate events, 300-plus competitors and more than $300,000 in prize money on the table.

Olympic Medalists Headline The 2010 U.S. Outdoor Track & Field Championships Live This Weekend From Des Moines, Iowa

NEW YORK- June 24, 2010– NBC Sports presents live coverage of the U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships this Saturday and Sunday from 3-4 p.m. ET from Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa. This meet marks the third event of the 2010 USATF Outdoor Championship Series and will showcase the country’s best professional track and field athletes competing for national honors.

Coverage Saturday begins at 3 p.m. ET and will feature the following events: 400m hurdles (men’s and women’s), 1500m (women’s), 400m (men’s and women’s), and 100m hurdles (women’s). Sunday’s coverage, also beginning at 3 p.m. ET, will highlight the 800m (men’s), 400m hurdles (women’s), 200m (men’s and women’s), 1500m (men’s), 110m hurdles (men’s), long jump (men’s), and the pole vault (women’s). Commentary will be provided by NBC’s Olympic Track and Field broadcast team of Tom Hammond, Ato Boldon, Lewis Johnson and Dwight Stones.

Highlighting the men’s competition is 2004 Olympic gold medalist and reigning national champion Shawn Crawford who will compete in the 200m event and will face two-time World Outdoor bronze medalist Wallace Spearmon. Among the competitors in the men’s 400m is 2004 Olympic gold medalist Jeremy Wariner, 2008 Olympic bronze medalist David Neville and 2008 Olympic silver medalist Kerron Clement. David Payne, a 2008 Olympic silver medalist, will compete in the 110m hurdles event and will be up against 2008 Olympic bronze medalist David Oliver. The 400m hurdles competition will showcase 2008 Olympic bronze medalist Bershawn “Batman” Jackson.

Headlining the women’s competition is two-time Olympic gold medalist (2004,2008) Sanya Richards, who will looks to reclaim her title for the sixth time in the 400m run. Des Moines native and two-time World Indoor champion Lolo Jones will join the competition in the 100m hurdles and competing in the pole vault event is 2008 Olympic silver medalist Jenn Suhr.

NEW YORK- June 25, 2009-NBC Sports presents live coverage of the U.S. Track and Field Championships, this Sunday from 4-6 p.m. ET from Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. The event will feature the best professional track and field athletes competing for spots on the Team USA roster for the 2009 IAAF World Outdoor Championships, August 15-23 on NBC from Berlin, Germany.

After a stunning sweep at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, 400m men’s hurdlers Angelo Taylor, Kerron Clement and Bershawn Jackson will look to take gold, silver and bronze once again, this time in Eugene. Headlining the men’s middle long distance is reigning world 1,500m & 5,000m champion Bernard Lagat (Kenya). Also, competing this weekend in the men’s championship is 100m double world champion Tyson Gay; 2004 Olympic gold medalist and two-time World Outdoor long jump champion Dwight Phillips; 2008 Olympic Trials high jump champion Jesse Williams; and reigning World Outdoor champion and the 2006 World Indoor Championships gold medalist pole vaulter Brad Walker.

Headlining the women’s competition in the 100m and 200m are two-time Olympic silver medalist and World Outdoor champion Allyson Felix and two-time World Outdoor 100m medalist Lauryn Williams. PREFONTAINE CLASSIC LIVE THIS SUNDAY ON NBC SPORTS

NEW YORK – June 4, 2009 – NBC Sports presents live coverage of the Nike Prefontaine Classic, this Sunday at 2 p.m.ET from Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. In the featured race, former world recordholder Asafa Powell will face off against Olympic bronze medalist Walter Dix.

Along with Powell and Dix, competitors include men’s 1500-meter 2004 Olympic silver medalist Bernard Lagat, women’s 100-meter hurdle Olympic gold medalist Dawn Harper facing off against bronze medalist Priscilla Lopes-Schliep and the reigning Olympic and Prefontaine Classic high jump champion Andrey Silnov.

In its 35th year, the Prefontaine Classic is a premiere track and field event in the United States and is the only stop in America for the World Athletics Tour. This year’s events will showcase men and women’s 100 and 800-meter sprints. Men will participate in the 300-meter sprints, mile, steeple, 400-meter hurdle, high jump, shot put and pole vault. Women will compete in the 400-meter sprint, 1500 and 2000-meter, 100-meter hurdle, long jump and discus and hammer throw.

Tom Hammond, Ato Boldon, Lewis Johnson, Dwight Stones and Bob Neumeier will provide commentary.

JEEP WORLD OF ADVENTURE SPORTS, SATURDAY, 5 PM ET

NBC Sports presents the Emmy Award winning Jeep World of Adventure Sports, an action and adventure sports series, this Sunday at 5 p.m. ET. The show highlights an array of adrenaline-inspired feats and adventurous sporting events from around the world. Featured sports include surfing, stand up paddling, the Red Bull Wake Lab and downhill skateboarding.

The Yukon River Quest is the longest annual canoe and kayak race in the world. Except for two mandatory rest stops totaling 10 hours, paddlers race non-stop over the 742 kilometers (460 miles) to Dawson City. The Red Bull Wake Lab is a groundbreaking event influenced by the design of the modern skateboarding skatepark and snowboarding snowpark. It includes a mix of hand and transfer rails, sliders, an elevated pool and 16-foot high wall ride/quarterpipe. Participants can also compete in the Olukai ho’olaule’a stand up paddle competition. This event couples high level competition with time honored customs of Hawaii including traditional sports, cultural activities, parties, food and music.
