NEW YORK- June 24, 2010– NBC Sports presents live coverage of the U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships this Saturday and Sunday from 3-4 p.m. ET from Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa. This meet marks the third event of the 2010 USATF Outdoor Championship Series and will showcase the country’s best professional track and field athletes competing for national honors.
Coverage Saturday begins at 3 p.m. ET and will feature the following events: 400m hurdles (men’s and women’s), 1500m (women’s), 400m (men’s and women’s), and 100m hurdles (women’s). Sunday’s coverage, also beginning at 3 p.m. ET, will highlight the 800m (men’s), 400m hurdles (women’s), 200m (men’s and women’s), 1500m (men’s), 110m hurdles (men’s), long jump (men’s), and the pole vault (women’s). Commentary will be provided by NBC’s Olympic Track and Field broadcast team of Tom Hammond, Ato Boldon, Lewis Johnson and Dwight Stones.
Highlighting the men’s competition is 2004 Olympic gold medalist and reigning national champion Shawn Crawford who will compete in the 200m event and will face two-time World Outdoor bronze medalist Wallace Spearmon. Among the competitors in the men’s 400m is 2004 Olympic gold medalist Jeremy Wariner, 2008 Olympic bronze medalist David Neville and 2008 Olympic silver medalist Kerron Clement. David Payne, a 2008 Olympic silver medalist, will compete in the 110m hurdles event and will be up against 2008 Olympic bronze medalist David Oliver. The 400m hurdles competition will showcase 2008 Olympic bronze medalist Bershawn “Batman” Jackson.
Headlining the women’s competition is two-time Olympic gold medalist (2004,2008) Sanya Richards, who will looks to reclaim her title for the sixth time in the 400m run. Des Moines native and two-time World Indoor champion Lolo Jones will join the competition in the 100m hurdles and competing in the pole vault event is 2008 Olympic silver medalist Jenn Suhr.
