Three-Part ‘Huddle Up’ Series Debuts TODAY

NFL Media memorializes the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina with a four-part series titled Marching Back: After the Storm. The series will run on NFL Network’s NFL Total Access Wednesday, August 26 – Saturday, August 29, with all four features and additional elements airing on NFL Total Access Sunday, August 30.

NFL Total Access airs at 7:00 PM ET Wednesday – Friday and at 3:00 PM ET on Saturday and Sunday.

Provided below are the four features included in Marching Back: After the Storm:

  • NFL Media’s Michael Silver returns to New Orleans to remember his experiences as the first sports journalist to arrive in the city after Hurricane Katrina. Former New Orleans Saints running back Deuce McAllister and wide receiver Joe Horn join Silver on his trip to recall the events from 10 years ago. Airs Wednesday, August 26 on NFL Total Access
  • NFL Media’s Mark Kriegel traces the history of how the Saints stayed in New Orleans and how the Superdome was rebuilt after the storm. Includes interviews with former Governor Kathleen Blanco and former NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue. Airs Thursday, August 27 on NFL Total Access
  • Former University of Minnesota defensive tackle Harold Legania – profiled in the upcoming season of NFL Network’s Emmy-nominated series Undrafted – grew up in New Orleans and recounts living through Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath. Airs Friday, August 28 on NFL Total Access

On Monday, August 24, NFL Network kicks off a three-part series called ‘Huddle Up.’ Each installment of the series will air on NFL Network’s NFL Preseason HQ at 8:00 AM ET and NFL Total Access at 7:00 PM ET from August 24-26. The series, hosted by NFL Network correspondent and mother of four Melissa Stark, features candid conversation and unique perspectives between football moms on youth sports and safety. Segments will include discussions on Heads Up Football, injuries and concussions, and dealing with coaches, among other topics.

Each ‘Huddle Up’ segment will be available for viewing on NFLhealthplaybook.com.

The NFL named Jordan Levin as its first ever Senior Vice President, Chief Content Officer, it was announced today by Brian Rolapp, Executive Vice President of Media for the NFL.

In this newly created role, Levin will be responsible for developing and implementing an innovative, league-wide content plan that advances the long-term growth objectives of the NFL across all of its owned and operated media assets, including NFL Network, NFL Digital Media, NFL Films, and external media partnerships, networks and platforms.  Levin will focus on the development, production, programming and distribution of high quality, video content consistent with the NFL brand and mission, which reaches current and future NFL fans across all demographic segments worldwide. Additionally, Levin will be charged with managing current NFL event programming franchises, such as the Super Bowl Halftime Show and NFL Honors, developing new franchises, and licensing and building the NFL Films library to maximize consumption.

Reporting to Rolapp, Levin will start June 15 and work out of NFL Media’s offices and studios in Los Angeles.

“With deep experience developing award-winning television programming combined with a keen understanding of the digital media landscape as both an executive and producer, I’m excited to have someone of Jordan’s unique background and talents join the NFL,” said Rolapp. “Jordan will be a great addition to an already strong executive team at NFL Media and help us produce first-class content we can deliver to NFL fans around the world across all platforms.”

A highly respected media executive, producer and entrepreneur, with over 25 years of experience creating television and digital content, Levin joins the NFL from Microsoft where he served as Executive Vice President and General Manager of Xbox Entertainment Studios. In this position, Levin was tasked with coordinating the launch of an interactive, video-on-demand programming service creating original premium content for the global, over-the-top Xbox platform.

In 2005, Levin started Generate, a pioneering studio and talent management company that successfully developed and produced fiction and factual entertainment, in addition to customized branded content, for a variety of distribution outlets and programming services across both traditional and digital platforms.  Generate was acquired by Alloy Digital in 2012, later merging with Break Media to form DEFY Media.

Levin joined The WB in 1994 as part of its founding executive team, rising through the ranks to become sole president of entertainment in 2001 and the youngest CEO in broadcast television history in 2003. During his time at The WB, Levin helped to launch, build and brand America’s most successful broadcast network to target young adult audiences through successful television programs such as “Dawson’s Creek,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Felicity,” “Smallville,” “Gilmore Girls,” and “One Tree Hill.”

Prior to joining The WB, Levin spent five years as a member of the creative team that revitalized the Disney television division, developing shows such as “Home Improvement,” “Ellen,” and “Boy Meets World.”

Currently the Chairman of NATPE, an HRTS Board member and past President, and DGA member, Levin graduated Cum Laude with special honors from the University of Texas at Austin’s Moody College of Communication in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Radio-Television-Film. Levin currently lives in Pacific Palisades, CA.

For the fifth consecutive year, current NFL players have voted to determine the top 100 players in the NFL.

The 11-episode, weekly series The Top 100 Players of 2015 airs Wednesdays at 9:00 PM ET on NFL Network, beginning Wednesday, May 6 revealing players ranked No. 100 – 91.

Following each weekly episode, The Top 100 Players of 2015 Reactions show airs live from the NFL Network studios at 10:00 PM ET. Hosted by Lindsay Rhodes and featuring a rotation of NFL Network analysts, the 30-minute show provides instant reaction to players unveiled – and not unveiled – on the latest episode. NFL players who have been voted onto the top 100 will also join the Reactions show throughout the series. NFL Network analysts Eric Davis and LaVar Arrington will appear on the first three Reactions shows to provide their reactions and analysis.

The top 10 players on the list will be revealed in a special two-hour edition Wednesday, July 8 at 9:00 PM ET, followed by the Reactions show at 11:00 PM ET.

NFL Media’s unscripted reality series Undrafted, which showcased the journeys of undrafted players seeking to pursue their dreams of playing in the NFL, received a nomination in the Outstanding Sports Documentary Series category after just its first season. Undrafted was produced by NFL Media in association with Mandalay.

NFL Network and DIRECTV’s Rich Eisen earned a nomination in the category of Outstanding Sports Personality – Studio Host for his work on NFL Network’s NFL GameDay Morning, Thursday Night Football pregame and postgame shows and The Rich Eisen Show, in addition to various other NFL Network programs. This is Eisen’s fourth career Emmy nomination.

For the second consecutive year, the NFL’s national campaign, “Together We Make Football” which celebrated America’s love of football, was nominated for a Sports Emmy in the Outstanding New Approaches – Sports Programming category. A truly collaborative effort across all NFL Media platforms, Together We Make Football utilized the production strengths of NFL Films along with harnessing digital integration on NFL.com and the 32 club sites, programming integration on NFL Network, and social media assets from across the NFL.
