Marks Final Competition of 2022 Diamond League Season – Winners of Each Event Will Be Crowned Diamond League Champions

STAMFORD, Conn. – Sept. 6, 2022 – Noah Lyles, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Grant Holloway, Shericka Jackson, and Ryan Crouser – all of whom won individual gold medals at the 2022 World Track & Field Championships in July – headline NBC Sports’ live coverage of the 2022 Diamond League Final meet from Zurich, Switzerland, this Wednesday, Sept. 7, beginning at 11:30 a.m. ET on Peacock. The second and final day of the meet will be presented live this Thursday at 1 p.m. ET on Peacock. An encore presentation will air on Saturday, Sept. 10, at Noon ET on CNBC. As this is the final Diamond League meet of the season, winners from each event will be crowned 2022 Diamond League Champion. Winners can also earn a bye to the 2023 World Track & Field Championships, which take place in Budapest next summer.

Lyles headlines an elite crew of U.S. World Championship medalists that are expected to compete at Letzigrund in Zurich. The final race of the meet, the men’s 200m, features 2022 world champion and American record holder Lyles (a three-time Diamond League champion in this event) as well as 2022 World Championship bronze medalist Erriyon Knighton, the 18-year-old phenom who is also the fifth-fastest 200m runner in history.

2022 men’s shot put world champion and world record holder Ryan Crouser and 2022 silver medalist Joe Kovacs will once again face off in their signature event, while 2022 women’s shot put world champion Chase Ealey tries to win her first Diamond League championship. Other notable U.S. stars in action will be 2022 110m hurdles world champion Grant Holloway, 2022 400m hurdles bronze medalist Dalilah Muhammad, two-time Tokyo Olympic medalist Gabby Thomas, 2022 100m world bronze medalist Trayvon Bromell, 2022 javelin world silver medalist Kara Winger, Tokyo Olympic discus champion Valarie Allman, 2017 steeplechase world champion Emma Coburn, and 2022 U.S. 5000m champion and American record holder Grant Fisher.

The Diamond League Final also has an impressive list of international stars expected to compete, highlighted by 2022 100m world champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (Jamaica),  who is in the midst of one of the most impressive sprinting seasons in track & field history with three medals at the 2022 World Championships and running a world-leading time of 10.62 (tied for sixth-fastest 100m in history) – and 2022 200m world champion Shericka Jackson (Jamaica), who looks to add her first Diamond League championship to her stellar resume.

Reigning 5000m world champion and 1500m world silver medalist Jakob Ingebrigtsen (Norway) is expected to clash against defending Diamond League 1500m champion Timothy Cheruiyot (Kenya) in a re-match of their epic battle at the Tokyo Olympics that saw Ingebrigtsen win his first major international gold medal, while 2022 800m world champion Emmanuel Korir (Kenya) and 2022 1500m world champion Jake Wightman (Great Britain) will once again race at the half-mile distance, which Wightman won at last week’s Brussels Diamond League meet.

Other notable international athletes expected to compete include 2022 triple jump world champion and world record holder Yulimar Rojas (Venezuela), 2022 pole vault world champion and world record holder Mondo Duplantis (Sweden), 2022 1500m world champion Faith Kipyegon (Kenya), 2022 400m hurdles world champion Alison dos Santos (Brazil), six-time Olympic medalist Andre De Grasse (Canada), 2022 steeplechase world champion Soufiane El Bakkali (Morocco), 2022 100m hurdles world champion and world record holder Tobi Amusan (Nigeria), 2022 5000m world champion Gudaf Tsegay (Ethiopia), and 2022 800m silver medalist Keely Hodgkinson (Great Britain).

STAMFORD, Conn. – August 31, 2022 – Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Shericka Jackson, Erriyon Knighton, and Emma Coburn – all four of whom have won individual medals at the World Track & Field Championships in their careers – headline NBC Sports’ live coverage of the 2022 Diamond League meet from Brussels, this Friday, September 2, beginning at 2 p.m. ET on Peacock. An encore presentation will air Saturday at 3 p.m. ET on NBC. This is the final Diamond League meet before the two-day final in Zurich on September 7-8.

Fraser-Pryce and Jackson headline an elite crew of World Championship medalists that are expected to compete at King Baudouin Stadium on Friday. The marquee race of the meet is expected to see the Jamaican duo of Fraser-Pryce, the 2022 100m world champion, and Jackson, the 2022 200m world champion, square off in the 100m. Fraser-Pryce is undefeated in Diamond League 100m races this summer, while Jackson ran the second-fastest 200m in history at the World Championships in July. 2021 U.S. 100m champion Sha’Carri Richardson is also expected to compete in the race.

On the American side, 200m World Championship bronze medalist Knighton, the 18-year-old phenom who is the fifth-fastest 200m runner in history, is expected to toe the line in his signature distance. Lyles headlines an elite crew of World Championship medalists that are set to compete at the Stade Olympique de la Pontaise on Friday. Lyles, who set the American record in the 200m earlier this summer, is expected to face off against 400m world champion Norman and 200m bronze medalist Erriyon Knighton in a re-match of the trio’s Diamond League race in Monaco earlier this month that saw Lyles take the win in a meet-record of 19.46.

110m hurdles world champion Grant Holloway and bronze medalist Trey Cunningham are expected to toe the line against Tokyo Olympic champion Hansle Parchment (Jamaica), while 2022 shot put world champion and world record holder Ryan Crouser will compete against fellow Americans 2022 silver medalist Joe Kovacs and bronze medalist Josh Awotunde – the three men who swept the shot put podium at the World Championships in July. McLaughlin, fresh off breaking her own 400m hurdles world record at the World Track & Field Championships Oregon22 with a blistering 50.68, will be competing in her first Diamond League competition since 2019. McLaughlin has run the three fastest times ever in the women’s 400m hurdles.

In the 100m, 2022 World Championship silver medalist Marvin Bracy-Williams, bronze medalist Trayvon Bromell, and 2019 world champion Christian Coleman are all expected to toe the line, while 2022 100m world champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (Jamaica) looks to continue her dominant summer in the women’s race.

Two-time Olympian and three-time U.S. champion Devon Allen, who ran the third-fastest 110-meter hurdles time in world history at the USATF NYC Grand Prix last weekend, headlines an elite crew of American Olympians that are set to compete at the iconic Bislett Stadium on Thursday. Allen, a two-sport athlete at the University of Oregon, signed a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles in April and is currently focused on track until training camp begins later this summer. Both competitions will stream on Peacock, with the New York meet also being broadcast live on NBC.

ROME DIAMOND LEAGUE – TODAY, JUNE 9

Five-time Olympian and 11-time Olympic medalist Allyson Felix is set to race in a star-studded 200 meters in what she says is likely the last Diamond League meet of her illustrious career. Meanwhile in the 800 meters, two-time Olympic gold medalist Athing Mu makes her international Diamond League debut just one day after celebrating her 20th birthday, while Olympic silver medalist Fred Kerley is expected to compete in the 100 meters.

On the international side, the women’s 200 meters will feature the reigning Olympic champion, Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson-Herah, and reigning world champion Dina Asher-Smith of Great Britain, as well as Tokyo Olympic 400 meter champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo of the Bahamas. The meet is also expected to include Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Selemon Barega of Ethiopia and silver medalists Laura Muir of Great Britain and Mohammed Ahmed of Canada, among others.

Sydney McLaughlin, Athing Mu, Noah Lyles, Fred Kerley, Grant Holloway and Many More Olympians to Compete this Summer Across NBC Sports

STAMFORD, Conn. – May 27, 2022 – It’s the summer of speed as NBC Sports will present 17 meets and 90+ hours of live track & field coverage this summer, including the first-ever outdoor World Championships hosted in the U.S., the U.S. Outdoor Championships, and Diamond League events from Eugene, Ore., Paris, Monaco and more. The expansive coverage will be spread across NBC, Peacock, USA Network and CNBC.

A full summer of track & field coverage begins this Saturday, May 28, with the world-renowned Diamond League Prefontaine Classic from Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., which will also host the World Championships, from July 15-24, and the U.S. Outdoor Championships, from June 24-26.

2022 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Seeing as this is the first time in history that the outdoor World Championships is being held in the United States since its inception in 1976, it’s fitting that NBC Sports will present more than 65 hours of coverage this summer, including seven hours of primetime coverage on the NBC broadcast network. This will be the first outdoor World Championship meet since 2019 (the 2021 meet was postponed due to COVID) and is expected to include Olympians, world record holders, and global medalists dueling for world titles.

Coverage will be spread across NBC, Peacock, USA Network, and CNBC from July 15-24. Additional programming details will be announced soon.

2022 U.S. OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

NBC Sports is set to present six hours of coverage of the U.S. Outdoor Championships across NBC, Peacock, USA Network, and CNBC from June 24-26. This national championship meet will be held at Hayward Field, with the top athletes in the U.S. all vying for spots on the prestigious team that will be sent to compete at the World Championships later that summer.

2022 DIAMOND LEAGUE SCHEDULE/PREFONTAINE CLASSIC

NBC Sports will present the entire Diamond League schedule – track & field’s international series of prestigious meets – this summer, with the Prefontaine Classic being held on Saturday, May 28 from Hayward Field. Live coverage begins Saturday at 4 p.m. ET on CNBC and Peacock, followed by a live 90-minute show on NBC and Peacock at 4:30 p.m. ET.

Multiple Olympic medalists, such as Fred Kerley, Noah Lyles, Ryan Crouser, Valarie Allman, Raevyn Rogers, Courtney Frerichs, and Emma Coburn are expected to compete, along with Olympians Erriyon Knighton, Trayvon Bromell, Ajee Wilson, Cole Hocker, and more.

NBC Sports’ Paul Swangard will call the event, joined by four-time Olympic medalist Ato Boldon, four-time Olympic gold medalist Sanya Richards-Ross, Olympic decathlon silver medalist Trey Hardee, and two-time Olympian Kara Goucher as analysts, and Lewis Johnson as a reporter.

STAMFORD, Conn. – Sept. 23, 2020 – NBC Sports concludes its coverage of the 2020 Diamond League track & field season from Doha, Qatar, this Friday, Sept. 25, live at Noon ET on NBCSN. The competition will also stream live on NBC Sports Gold’s “Track and Field Pass.”

Reigning two-time world champion and 2016 Olympic pole vault bronze medalist Sam Kendricks and 2019 world silver medalist Mondo Duplantis (Sweden) will go head-to-head in the pole vault competition on Friday. Duplantis is coming off a win at last Thursday’s Rome meet, where he broke a 26-year-old outdoor world pole vault record, clearing 6.15 meters. The previous record was held by 1988 Olympic champion Sergey Bubka.

Two-time Olympic sprint champion Elaine Thompson-Herah (Jamaica), who ran the fastest 100m race of the season (10.85 seconds) last Thursday in Rome, and reigning world and Olympic 3000m steeplechase champion Conseslus Kipruto (Kenya), also headline the field. Thompson-Herah is expected to compete in the 100m and participating in the 1500m is Kipruto, who’s returning to competition after testing positive for COVID-19 earlier this summer.

STAMFORD, Conn. – September 1, 2020 – NBC Sports continues live coverage of the 2020 Diamond League track & field season this week with the series’ third and fourth exhibition events in Lausanne, Switzerland and Brussels, Belgium. Live action begins in Lausanne tomorrow, Wednesday, September 2, at Noon ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA, followed by an encore of the event at 2 p.m. ET on NBCSN. On Friday, September 4, at 2 p.m. ET, Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA televises live coverage from Brussels, followed by an encore at 6 p.m. ET on NBCSN. NBC will also air an encore presentation Sunday, September 6, at Noon ET.

Both events will stream live tomorrow (Lausanne) and Friday (Brussels) on NBC Sports Gold’s “Track and Field Pass.”

Featuring men’s and women’s pole vault in Lausanne, 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Sam Kendricks highlights the Americans expected to compete, while current pole vault world record holder and 2019 world silver medalist Mondo Duplantis (Sweden) headlines the field.

In Brussels, long distance runners headlining the women’s and men’s One Hour Races are two-time reigning world champion Sifan Hassan (Netherlands) and four-time Olympic gold medalist Mo Farah (Great Britain), respectively. This will also mark Farah’s first appearance on the track since 2017. The one hour race is a special event in which the athletes will attempt to break the world record for longest distance run in an hour.
