Richardson headlines the 200m field in what will be her 2024 outdoor debut after a breakout 2023 season that saw her capture three medals at her first-ever World Championships (1st – 100m, 1st – 4x100m gold, 3rd – 200m bronze). STAMFORD, Conn. – Feb. 29, 2024 – Olympians and world champions Noah Lyles, Grant Holloway, Ryan Crouser, and Katie Moon headline NBC Sports’ presentation of the 2024 World Indoor Championships from Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Scotland, this weekend across Peacock, NBC, and CNBC.

Team USA is expected to be led by six-time world champion Noah Lyles, who took down 60m world record holder Christian Coleman (also representing the U.S. in Glasgow) by 0.01 seconds at the U.S. Indoor Championships two weeks ago. Lyles, the reigning outdoor world champion in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m, is competing at his first-ever World Indoor Championship and will battle Coleman yet again for his first indoor world title.

Earlier this week, Lyles, who won three gold medals at the 2023 World Athletics Championships, was announced as a nominee for Sportsman of the Year at the Laureus World Sports Awards, alongside Lionel Messi (soccer), Novak Djokovic (tennis), Max Verstappen (Formula One), Erling Haaland (soccer), and Mondo Duplantis (track & field). Additionally, on Monday, Lyles agreed to a contract extension with adidas that is, according to the news release, “the richest contract in the sport of track and field since the retirement of Usain Bolt.” This extension will keep him with the company through the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Other U.S. world champions expected to compete in Glasgow include 60m hurdles world record holder and defending world indoor champion Grant Holloway, reigning Olympic and world outdoor shot put champion Ryan Crouser, and reigning Olympic and world pole vault champion Katie Moon.

Team USA will also be represented by American mile record holder Yared Nuguse, American indoor mile record holder Elle St. Pierre, 60m American record holder Aleia Hobbs, and 2024 U.S. indoor 1500m champion Cole Hocker, among others.

A strong international contingent is expected to toe the line this weekend, including reigning Olympic and world 400m hurdles champion and world record holder Karsten Warholm (Norway), reigning Olympic and world pole vault champion and world record holder Mondo Duplantis (Sweden), reigning 400m hurdles world champion Femke Bol (Netherlands), 60m hurdles world record holder Devynne Charlton (Bahamas), and the Scottish duo of Tokyo Olympic 1500m silver medalist Laura Muir and reigning 1500m world champion Josh Kerr, competing in front of their home crowd.

NBC Sports’ Paul Swangard calls the action alongside four-time Olympic medalist Ato Boldon, two-time Olympian Kara Goucher, and 2012 London Olympic decathlon silver medalist Trey Hardee. Lewis Johnson serves as reporter.

NOAH LYLES VS. CHRISTIAN COLEMAN HEADLINES 2024 USATF INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS THIS SATURDAY AT 4 P.M. ET ON NBC AND PEACOCK

Reigning World 100m Champion Lyles to Face Off Against 2019 100m World Champion Coleman in 60m

Grant Holloway, Ryan Crouser, Elle St. Pierre, Yared Nuguse, Katie Moon and More World Championship Athletes Expected to Compete for National Championships This Weekend

2024 World Indoor Championships Presented March 1-3 Across Peacock, NBC, and CNBC

STAMFORD, Conn. – Feb. 15, 2024 – The 60m battle between six-time world champion Noah Lyles and 2019 100m world champion Christian Coleman highlights NBC Sports’ live coverage of the 2024 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships from the Albuquerque Convention Center in New Mexico this Saturday, Feb. 17, at 4 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.

Lyles, who won the 60m at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston earlier this month in a world-leading time of 6.44 seconds, aims to win his first 60m indoor national title against 60m world record holder Christian Coleman, who won last week’s Millrose Games 60m in 6.51. Coleman is undefeated against Lyles at the 60m distance; the two sprint stars last faced each other in the Prefontaine Classic 100m in September 2023, where Coleman edged the reigning 100m world champion, 9.83 to 9.85.

Other notable U.S. stars expected to compete this weekend include 60m hurdles world record holder and reigning indoor world champion Grant Holloway, reigning shot put Olympic and world champion and world record holder Ryan Crouser, U.S. indoor mile record holder Elle St. Pierre, U.S. mile and 3,000m record holder Yared Nuguse, reigning Olympic and world pole vault champion Katie Moon, 2016 Rio Olympic pole vault silver medalist Sandi Morris, U.S. 60m record holder Aleia Hobbs, and Cole Hocker, fresh off of running the second-fastest two-mile in U.S. history at last week’s Millrose Games (8:05.70).

This weekend’s national championship serves as a selection event for the 2024 World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, on March 1-3. The top two athletes in each event will be selected to represent the United States, provided that those athletes have met the World Athletics entry standard or have a high enough world ranking within the qualification window. Athletes can also earn a spot at the World Indoor Championships by virtue of winning the 2023 or 2024 World Indoor Tour for that respective event.

NBC Sports’ Paul Swangard will call the event, joined by four-time Olympic medalist Ato Boldon, 2012 London Olympic decathlon silver medalist Trey Hardee, and two-time Olympian Kara Goucher. Lewis Johnson will serve as reporter.

The iconic meet, held at The Armory in Manhattan since 2012, doubles as a stop on the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold.

The meet’s premiere events, the NYRR Wanamaker Miles, could potentially see an indoor world record fall in the men’s race as U.S. mile record-holder and defending Millrose mile champion Yared Nuguse looks to break the vaunted time of 3:47.01 set by Olympian Yomif Kejelcha (Ethiopia) in 2019. Nuguse had a historic 2023 season, breaking Alan Webb’s 16-year-old U.S. mile record at the Prefontaine Classic in September (3:43.97), good for fourth on the all-time outdoor mile list, while also breaking the U.S. indoor mile record at last year’s Millrose Games (3:47.38).

Expected to line up next to Nuguse will be training partner and two-time World Championship finalist Mario Garcia Romo (Spain) and rising U.S. middle distance star Hobbs Kessler, coming off a win in the 1500m at last week’s New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.

Additionally, the men’s indoor two-mile world record of 8:03.40, set by four-time Olympic champion Mo Farah (Great Britain) in 2015, will also be targeted on Sunday, as reigning 1500m world champion Josh Kerr (Great Britain) and U.S. 5,000m/10,000m record holder Grant Fisher lead a competitive field going after the historic time.

Sunday’s meet will also include matchups such as 2019 100m world champion Christian Coleman and six-time Olympic medalist Andre De Grasse (Canada) facing off in the 60m as well as Tokyo Olympic 1500m silver medalist Laura Muir (Great Britain) battling North American 5,000m/10,000m record holder Alicia Monson in the two-mile.

Lyles is finishing a historic season that saw him become the first athlete since Usain Bolt in 2015 to win the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m at a single World Championships when he swept all three events in Budapest last month. A four-time Diamond League champion in the 200m, the reigning 100m world champion will be going for his first DL title in the 100m since 2019. He is expected to compete against 2023 world 100m silver medalist Letsile Tobogo (Botswana) and 2019 100m world champion Christian Coleman.

Part 1 of Untitled: The Noah Lyles Project Available Exclusively on Peacock

STAMFORD, Conn. – August 24, 2023 – Team USA sprinters and 100m World Champions Noah Lyles and Sha’Carri Richardson are expected to headline NBC Sports’ comprehensive live coverage of the final weekend of the 2023 World Track & Field Championships from the National Athletics Centre in Budapest, Hungary across NBC, Peacock, CNBC, and USA Network.

Weekend coverage is highlighted by the women’s and men’s 200m final, expected to include 2023 100m world champions Lyles and Richardson, during Friday’s evening session on USA Network and Peacock at 3:40 p.m. ET and 3:50 p.m. ET, respectively. Lyles, who won his first 100m world title last weekend, could become the first man since Usain Bolt in 2015 to successfully pull off the 100m/200m double at an outdoor world championship. If he wins his third consecutive 200m world title on Friday, he would trail only Bolt for most career 200m world titles. He has also been outspoken in his pursuit to break Bolt’s 200m world record of 19.19.

Richardson won her first global medal last Monday, beating out a competitive 100m field that included 10-time world champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (Jamaica) and three-time world champion Shericka Jackson (Jamaica). Richardson is expected to once again face off with reigning 200m world champion Jackson as well as 2023 U.S. 200m champion Gabby Thomas for the world title on Friday.

Saturday’s action, during the evening session on CNBC and Peacock, is highlighted by the men’s and women’s 4x100m finals, at 3:40 p.m. ET and 3:50 p.m. ET, respectively. The men’s team, which took home silver at last year’s World Championships, could possibly include the last three 100m world champions in Lyles (2023), Fred Kerley (2022), and Christian Coleman (2019). The reigning world champion women’s squad will look to repeat. In the women’s 5,000m, Faith Kipyegon (Kenya), who became the first woman to ever win three 1500m world titles with her victory earlier this week, looks to become the first woman to pull off the 1500m/5,000m double at a single world championship (2:50 p.m. ET).

The final day of competition on Sunday, during the evening session on NBC and Peacock, is highlighted by the women’s 800m at 2:45 p.m. ET, where reigning Olympic champion and defending world champion Athing Mu looks to add to her already-impressive global medal count, as well as the men’s and women’s 4x400m relays, where the United States are the defending champions in both sections. The men have won two consecutive 4x400m world titles while the women have won three. The men’s 4x400m is slated to go off at 3:37 p.m. ET and the women’s at 3:47 p.m., closing out action in Budapest.

Other notable events on Sunday include the men’s 5,000m final, expected to feature defending 5,000m world champion and 2023 1500m world silver medalist Jakob Ingebrigtsen (Norway) and two-time Olympic 5,000m medalist Paul Chelimo (3:10 p.m. ET).

Leigh Diffey and Paul Swangard serve as play-by-play announcers alongside four-time Olympic medalist Ato Boldon, four-time Olympic gold medalist Sanya Richards-Ross, 2012 London Olympic decathlon silver medalist Trey Hardee, and two-time Olympic distance runner Kara Goucher. Lewis Johnson serves as reporter.
