STAMFORD, Conn. – Jan. 11, 2023 – Seven-time Olympic champion and multiple world record holder Katie Ledecky, four-time Olympic champion Ryan Murphy, three-time Olympic medalist Regan Smith, two-time Olympic champion Bobby Finke, and two-time Olympic champion Simone Manuel headline NBC Sports’ live streaming coverage on Peacock of the first stop of the TYR Pro Swim Series this week in Knoxville, Tenn., at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center at the University of Tennessee.

Live coverage begins tomorrow, Jan. 12, at 6 p.m. ET on Peacock, and continues Friday, Jan. 13, at 6 p.m. ET on Peacock. An encore presentation of Day 1’s action will be presented on Saturday, Jan. 14, on CNBC at 11:30 a.m. ET with an encore presentation of Day 2 later that day on CNBC at 1 p.m. ET. In addition, NBC will broadcast a highlights show on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Ledecky, coming off a successful 2022 season that saw her net four gold medals at the World Championships, is expected to compete in the women’s 400m freestyle and 1500m freestyle. She holds the world and meet records in both events. Murphy, who won two gold medals at the 2022 World Championships, is expected to compete in the 100m butterfly, 100m backstroke and 200m backstroke, the latter two events he won at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Finke is expected to compete in the men’s 800m freestyle and 1500m freestyle, both events which he won at the Tokyo Olympics. Smith is expected to compete in multiple events, including the 200m butterfly, her silver medal-winning event at the Tokyo Olympics. Manuel, competing in her first top-level event since the Tokyo Olympics, is expected to swim in the 50m free and 100m free.

This week’s competition is the first of four stops in the 2023 TYR Pro Swim Series, which continues in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Westmont, Ill., and Mission Viejo, Calif.

STAMFORD, Conn. – Nov. 30, 2022 – The world’s top swimmers meet this week for the Toyota U.S. Open Swimming Championships at Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C., headlined by 10-time Olympic medalist and world record holder Katie Ledecky, two-time world champion Summer McIntosh of Canada, four-time Olympic medalist Abbey Weitzeil, three-time Olympic medalist Regan Smith, and two-time Olympic medalist Chase Kalisz.

Live coverage of the competition streams exclusively on Peacock this Thursday and Friday at 6 p.m. ET. NBC will present an encore on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 4:30 p.m. ET. All television coverage will stream on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app via authentication.

This week’s competition features Ledecky in the 400m freestyle on Thursday, an event in which she holds the American and meet record; Weitzeil in the 50m freestyle on Thursday; Smith in the 100m backstroke on Friday, an event in which she holds the American and meet record; and Kalisz in the 400 IM on Friday, the event that he won at the Tokyo Olympics.

Notable international athletes expected to compete include teenage sensation Summer McIntosh (Canada), who recently became the youngest world champion since 2011 and the youngest Canadian world champion in history after winning the 200m butterfly and 400m individual medley as a 15-year-old at the 2022 World Championships.

McIntosh will go head-to-head against Ledecky in the 400m freestyle on Thursday and attempt to snap the American’s 10-year undefeated streak in domestic, long-course freestyle races of 400 meters or longer. While McIntosh took silver to Ledecky’s gold in this event at this year’s World Championships, the Canadian phenom still managed to become only the fourth woman in history to break four minutes in the event (3:59.39).

NBC Sports’ daily live coverage of the Championships begins tomorrow, July 26, at 8 p.m. ET on Peacock and Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA and continues through the final day of competition on Saturday, July 30. NBC and CNBC will both present three hours of encore coverage. NBC will air a two-hour encore on Sunday, July 31, at 12 p.m. ET, as well as an hour-long program on Saturday, Aug. 6, at 3 p.m. ET. CNBC will present two hour-and-a-half long encores on Saturday, July 30, at 1 p.m. ET as well as on Sunday, July 31, at 5 p.m. ET. All television coverage will also be presented on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app via authentication.

Highlights of this five-day championship include Ledecky in the 800m freestyle on Tuesday, an event in which she holds the world record, Apple in the 200m free on Wednesday, Smith in the 400 IM on Thursday, and Finke competing in both events that he won at the Tokyo Olympics last year, the 1500m free on Tuesday and the 800m free on Saturday.

STAMFORD, Conn. – June 16, 2022 – Seven-time Olympic gold medalists Caeleb Dressel and Katie Ledecky headline NBC Sports’ live coverage of the FINA World Championships beginning this weekend on Peacock and Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA from Budapest.

From this Saturday, June 18, through next Saturday, June 25, NBC Sports presents daily live coverage of the World Championships at Noon ET on Peacock and Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA. On Sunday, June 26, NBC will air encore coverage of the 2022 World Championships at Noon ET.

Dressel, who won seven World Championships gold medals in 2017 and six in 2019, could move into second place behind Michael Phelps in career world titles (including relays) with six wins during this championship meet. Ledecky is entered in three individual events and could move into second place behind Phelps on the individual world titles list.

Dressel and Ledecky are joined on the U.S. team by fellow Olympic gold medalists Bobby Finke, Chase Kalisz, Lilly King, and Ryan Murphy, who won a combined nine medals at the Tokyo Olympics. The first World Championships of the 2024 Olympic cycle could also see breakout performances from up-and-coming U.S. swimmers such as Claire Curzan, Torri Huske, and Carson Foster.

On the international side, Olympic gold medalists Katinka Hosszú and Kristóf Milák of host-nation Hungary and Kaylee McKeown and Zac Stubblety-Cook of Australia are expected to compete.

Jason Knapp handles play-by-play for the event alongside analyst Rowdy Gaines. Nick Zaccardi serves as the reporter.

STAMFORD, Conn. – July 19, 2021 – Michael Phelps, who has won more total Olympic medals (28) and gold medals (23) than anyone in history, will join the NBC Olympics team in Tokyo, it was announced today.

Phelps, who joined the NBC Sports team on several nights at the U.S. Olympic Trials for Swimming last month in Omaha, Nebraska, will serve as a primetime correspondent in Tokyo and will also join Dan Hicks and Rowdy Gaines in the booth for select swimming competition.

“From the moment he joined our team at Trials, Michael’s ability to provide insightful analysis, thoughtful commentary and tell entertaining stories was apparent,” said Molly Solomon, Executive Producer & President, NBC Olympics Production. “We’re thrilled to have him join us in Tokyo and our audience will benefit from hearing the perspective of the most decorated Olympian of all time.”

Phelps competed in five Olympic Games from 2000-16 and holds the world record in the 400m individual medley. Swimming Coverage Kicks Off NBC Olympics’ Record Coverage of U.S. Olympic Team Trials Ahead of Tokyo Olympics

STAMFORD, Conn. – June 2, 2021 – NBC Olympics presents live coverage of Wave I of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for swimming this weekend, beginning Friday, June 4 at 8 p.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA from Omaha, Neb.

Swimming trials coverage will take place in two waves, beginning this weekend with Wave I and continuing June 13-20 with Wave II, and includes eight nights of primetime coverage on NBC.

Team USA looks to continue its Olympic success, having led the medal count in swimming at seven consecutive Games, including in Rio, where the team won 33 medals.

Patrick Kinas (play-by-play) and three-time Olympian Elizabeth Beisel (analyst) will call this weekend’s action.

Wave I qualified U.S. swimmers will compete at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for swimming in a wildcard bid to reach Wave II of the event and race to become a member of the U.S. Olympic Team. The four-day Trials competition will feature many of the country’s rising talent, with the top two swimmers of every event moving to Wave II.

Vying for spots on Team USA during Wave II are five-time Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky, who could tie or break the all-time record for Olympic gold medals won by a U.S. woman (8); two-time Olympic gold medalist Caeleb Dressel; four-time Olympic medalist Simone Manuel; 12-time Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte, who is trying to make his fifth team at the age of 36; and three-time Olympic gold medalist Ryan Murphy.

In total, NBC Olympics will present 12 nights of swimming coverage, including eight consecutive nights of swimming in primetime on NBC and NBCSN. Beginning on Sunday, June 13, with the start of Wave II, nightly coverage will feature qualifying heats and finals competition over eight nights, concluding on Sunday, June 20, in primetime at 8:15 p.m. ET on NBC.

Over the course of both waves of swimming trials, 24 hours of preliminaries coverage will exclusively stream on NBCOlympics.com and the NBC Sports app.

NBC Sports’ live coverage of the event begins this Friday, Nov. 13 at 10 a.m. ET on NBCSN, and continues Friday night at 6 p.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA.

Live coverage concludes this Saturday at 10 a.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA. NBC will air the event at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov 15.

STAMFORD, Conn. – May 20, 2020 – NBC Sports presents classic sports-themed Saturday Night Live episodes on NBCSN next week, beginning Monday, May 25, at 8 p.m. ET with a Sept. 1991 episode hosted by Michael Jordan, just three months after he won the first of his six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls.

From next Monday through Friday in primetime, NBCSN will televise 20 SNL episodes dating back to the early 1990s that were hosted by the biggest names in sports. Athletes serving as host on next week’s stunt have combined to win 35 MVP awards (regular and postseason), 29 Olympic gold medals, 10 Super Bowls, nine NBA titles, and five World Series, not to mention a host of MMA and professional wrestling belts.

In addition to Michael Jordan, following are the SNL hosts in NBCSN appearance order: LeBron James, Charles Barkley, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, J.J. Watt, Dwayne Johnson, Andy Roddick, John Cena, Ronda Rousey, Michael Phelps, and Derek Jeter.

Programming will also stream on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app.
