NBC SPORTS NEXT’S BRS GOLF ACQUIRES ALBATROS DATENSERVICE AND DIGITAL GOLF SOLUTIONS

December 1, 2022 By admin

Acquisition of Albatros Datenservice and Digital Golf Solutions Allows NBC Sports Next to Expand Golf Operations into Mainland Europe and South Africa

BELFAST, Northern Ireland (Dec. 1, 2022) – BRS Golf, the world leader in tee-time management software, has acquired Europe’s foremost golf technology providers, Albatros Datenservice and Digital Golf Solutions. Today’s acquisition represents a major step in the growth strategy of BRS Golf’s parent company, NBC Sports Next, expanding its golf operations into mainland Europe and South Africa.

BRS Golf, Albatros Datenservice and Digital Golf Solutions’s closely aligned products and services, combined with a shared focus on continued product development and customer support, will bring benefits to golf course partners and golfers across all territories.

The acquisition will see the creation of an expanded Product & Technology team for NBC Sports Next’s international golf businesses, innovating for customers across the UK, Ireland, mainland Europe, South Africa, and Australia. As early as 2024, BRS Golf anticipates bringing Albatros technology solutions to its customers in the UK, Ireland, and Australia, providing a complete golf operations solution including reservations, point-of-sale, CRM, accountancy and hotel integrations, and competition management software with full World Handicap (WHS) integration.

BRS Golf, which was acquired by NBCUniversal in 2013, will retain its Belfast offices as the company’s international headquarters. Its core products that have been delivering for customers since 2003 will continue to be go-forward systems and a critical part of the NBC Sports Next golf portfolio.

Albatros Datenservice operates from both Karlsruhe, Germany, and Cape Town, South Africa, working with 1,500 golf clubs worldwide. Digital Golf Solutions, which distributes Albatros software solutions and operates the online tee-time platform, Mygreenfee, has offices in Paris, France. The Mygreenfee website and app closely aligns with NBC Sports Next’s tee-time booking platform, GolfNow, and allows golfers across Europe to book tee times at more than 320 course partners in France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, and Sweden.

Brian Smith, Co-Founder of BRS Golf and Head of International Growth & Acquisition for NBC Sports Next Golf, says: “The acquisition of Albatros and Digital Golf Solutions is an incredibly exciting development for BRS Golf. To think that the company my brother Rory and I started from home in 2003 has become a key part of the NBC Sports business, spearheading growth into new international markets, is a source of immense pride.”

Smith further commented: “The synergies between BRS Golf and Albatros, and GolfNow and Mygreenfee extend beyond products to strategy, culture, and customer experience. The acquisition is a closely aligned partnership that enhances our mission to continue to develop golf operations systems built specifically for the ever-changing golf market. It will combine the knowledge and culture of our people to continue to deliver excellence for our course partners and our golfers. Through this acquisition we plan to grow the international golf business in the years ahead, offering new products and services to current markets, as well as expanding the team in mainland Europe.”

Volker Schorp, Founder of Albatros Datenservice, and also assuming the title of International VP of Product & Technology for NBC Sports Next Golf, says: “I am proud and happy that in BRS Golf and NBC Sports Next, we have found a strong, international, and golf-savvy partner who will strengthen Albatros and the new software package “Albatros 9” and take it to the next level. Together we can accelerate development and enter new areas in addition to the existing markets in which we will expand our position.

“The integration of Albatros into an organization of this size gives us the opportunity to develop further fields of activity in addition to the already highly successful ones. In addition to golf courses, our long-standing customers also include numerous golf associations who rely on web and cloud-based solutions from Albatros in central handicap or tournament solutions in the context of the World Handicap System.”

Schorp continued: “We plan not only to maintain the locations in Karlsruhe, Paris and Cape Town, but also to expand them further to become even stronger in development, as well as in customer service and sales. Personally, I look forward to continuing to actively shape this process of growth for Albatros together with NBC Sports Next in the coming years and will, of course, continue to be personally available at Albatros for our partners and customers.”

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

NBC SPORTS NEXT AND NFL RE-CONNECT TO SALUTE THE U.S. MILITARY COMMUNITY WITH FUNDRAISING INITIATIVE IN NOVEMBER

November 1, 2022 By admin

Campaign Will Encourage Golfers Booking Tee Times on GolfNow and TeeOff to “Round-Up” to Benefit NFL’s Salute to Service

ORLANDO, Fla. (Nov. 1, 2022) – NBC Sports Next will reprise its 2021 “Round-Up” philanthropic campaign with the NFL this November as a continuing salute to the non-profits that support the NFL’s Salute to Service initiative for military communities in the U.S. and around the world.

Throughout November, NBC Sports Next – through its Better Together initiative – will help raise funds for the NFL’s year-round effort to honor, empower and connect the nation’s service members, veterans, and their families.

A significant element of the campaign will include a “Round-Up” initiative on both GolfNow  and TeeOff tee-time booking websites. GolfNow and TeeOff comprise the largest online tee-time marketplace in golf and the industry’s leading providers of golf course operations software and services to more than 9,000 courses worldwide. Anyone booking tee times on GolfNow or TeeOff in November will be provided the opportunity to round up the total cost of the reservation to an even-dollar figure. For example, if the cost of a tee time totals $34.65, the golfer can elect to round up the cost to $35, donating the additional $0.35 to the NFL’s Salute to Service. The campaign raised $100,000 for Salute to Service in 2021.

“A key area of our Better Together initiative is forming partnerships and programs that create more opportunity and access in our communities, so we’re honored to work with the NFL as a way to help and thank our military,” said Jerramy Hainline, SVP, Fandango Ticketing & GolfNow, NBCUniversal. “We also want to thank all the generous golfers who will choose to round up for this great cause when booking on GolfNow and TeeOff in November.”

“We’re thankful to continue working with NBC Sports Next in support of the league’s Salute to Service initiative,” said Anna Isaacson, the NFL’s Senior Vice President of Social Responsibility. “The generous donations provided through the ‘Round-Up’ campaign throughout the month of November will help to make a positive impact for the military and veteran communities that our nonprofit partners serve.”

The campaign will be promoted across NBC Sports platforms on air, online and via social media. The NFL and the five non-profit Salute to Service partners benefiting from the initiative – Bob Woodruff Foundation (BWF), Pat Tillman Foundation (PTF), Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), United Service Organizations (USO) and Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) – also will support the campaign.

GolfPass, the leading digital membership managed by NBC Sports Next for the golf-obsessed, also honors the military service community with an ongoing membership discount of 20 percent. More information can be found at www.golfpass.com/military.

RORY McILROY & NBC SPORTS NEXT HELP GIVE BACK TO GOLF WITH SECOND $1 MILLION DONATION TO YOUTH ON COURSE

October 13, 2022 By admin

NBC Sports Next’s Better Together Initiative Continues to Create More Access for Underserved Groups and Diverse Start-Ups

PALM BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 5, 2022) – While thanking the generous community of golfers who have chosen to “round up” their purchases through NBC Sports Next’s GolfNow tee-time service, Rory McIlroy today presented a second check for $1 million to Youth on Course, helping the organization continue its mission to create more affordable and equal access to golf.

The check presentation represented the second $1 million donation facilitated by NBC Sports Next to YOC – the first taking place with the help of McIlroy in September 2021. Accepting the check was Youth on Course CEO Adam Heieck, who joined McIlroy to cheer on donors beginning their marathon round of golf at the Palm Beach Par 3 golf course in Florida, one of 10 “Premier 100 Hole Hike” fund-raising locations across the U.S. These annual charity events challenge participants to raise $10,000 or more to support YOC.

McIlroy also was on hand to host an instruction clinic, which included 16 local YOC members and host Martin Hall. The Rory Pop-Up Clinic from the event will be available to stream on GolfPass, beginning Monday, Oct. 17. McIlroy is co-founder of GolfPass.

The day’s activities also were being captured by Vox Media Studios, producers behind the highly anticipated Netflix documentary series that will follow the lives and stories of top professional golfers through an entire competitive season.

“We’re incredibly honored to have the support of NBC Sports Next and grateful to the millions of GolfNow users who have chosen to round up over the past two years,” Heieck said. “These contributions are helping to increase our impact and creating transformative change in the lives of our members.”

The $2 million total contribution marked another major milestone in the 21 months since NBC Sports Next and Youth on Course announced a major partnership with the goal of helping to ensure the vitality of golf for kids across the U.S. through the innovative technology of GolfNow and unmatched content provided by GolfPass. Through NBC Sports Next’s Better Together initiative, the donated funds resulted from generous GolfNow golfers who elected to help expand YOC’s national footprint when booking a round of golf.

A key element of the partnership includes the GolfNow “Round-Up” campaign, which offers anyone booking a tee time online via GolfNow or the GolfNow app to round up the total cost of the reservation to an even-dollar figure.

Since the “Round-Up” campaign began, there have been nearly 6 million contributions, raising the $2 million from an average contribution of $0.36. The contribution represents enough money to subsidize approximately 285,000 rounds of golf for YOC members.

“We’re extremely proud of our partnership with Youth on Course and doubly so of the millions of GolfNow golfers who have generously contributed to our efforts to create more access to our great sport,” said Jerramy Hainline, Senior Vice President & General Manager, Golf, NBC Sports Next. “This round-up campaign is a great example of the many supplemental ways we are innovating with our industry-leading technology.”

Other key elements of the NBC Sports Next-Youth on Course partnership have included:

    • A 2022 GolfPass sweepstakes providing the winner and guest the opportunity to win a trip to Indio, Calif., to participate in a 100 Hole Hike event, alongside celebrity instructors Devan Bonebrake and Nathalie Sheehan.
    • Development by GolfNow of a custom YOC booking engine, providing YOC members to book their rounds of golf through the YOC app.
    • Complimentary GolfPass video subscription for all YOC members, giving more than 130,000 young people access to hundreds of hours of high-quality instruction and entertainment programming on demand.
    • $80,000 in scholarship awards from GolfNow and GolfPass, which have been given to outstanding YOC members pursuing a college education.
