NFL Divisional Playoff Game To Be Televised In Spanish Exclusively On mun2

LOS ANGELES – Jan. 6, 2015 – Leading into its exclusive Spanish-language telecast of Super Bowl XLIX when it rebrands to become NBC UNIVERSO on Feb. 1, NBCUniversal’s Hispanic cable network mun2 will air in Spanish this Saturday’s Divisional Playoff matchup between AFC powerhouses the Baltimore Ravens and the New England Patriots.

La NFL en mun2 pre-game show will begin live from Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., at 4:00pm ET / 1:00pm PT. Bringing viewers all the action on the field throughout this AFC Divisional Playoff clash will be play-by-play announcer Rene Giraldo, along with color commentator Edgar Lopez and sideline reporter Veronica Contreras.

This will be the fourth time since 2009 that the Ravens and Patriots will clash in New England for the right to advance in the playoffs. Baltimore has won two of the three previous hotly contested battles, most recently on January 20, 2013, in the AFC Championship Game defeating the Patriots 28-13.

The Divisional Playoff game is the fourth of five La NFL en mun2 broadcasts this NFL season. Last weekend, mun2 televised the Wild Card Playoff encounter between the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pa., in which the Ravens prevailed, 30-17, to advance to the Divisional round. The network previously aired the Thanksgiving night showdown which saw the defending champion Seattle Seahawks defeat division rival San Francisco 49ers, 19-3, from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. mun2 kicked off its coverage in September, televising the Hispanic Heritage Game on Sept. 28, during which the Dallas Cowboys defeated the New Orleans Saints, 38-17, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The season will culminate on Feb. 1, when NBC UNIVERSO airs the exclusive Spanish-language telecast of Super Bowl XLIX, from Glendale, Ariz.

PREMIER LEAGUE MATCHES CONTINUE ON mun2

The network will air Newcastle United vs. Chelsea on Sat., Dec. 6, at 7:40 a.m. ET / 4:40 a.m. PT; followed by Southampton vs. Manchester United on Mon., Dec. 8, at 2:55 p.m. ET / 11:55 a.m. PT.

mun2 continues its unprecedented coverage across multiple platforms which includes streaming through select pay-TV providers and on Video on Demand (VOD).

Newcastle United sits with twenty points on the table after tying Burnley 1-1 on Tuesday. The Magpies have only lost once in their last eight premier league encounters. League leader Chelsea continues undefeated this season and in first place with 36 points, after a 3-0 drubbing of Tottenham on Wednesday. The Blues got a goal from veteran forward Didier Drogba who started in place of suspended Diego Costa.

This seasons surprise Southampton, has lost their last two consecutive matches in league play and have dropped to third on the table. The Saints were defeated by Arsenal on Tuesday 1-0, giving up an 89th minute goal to Alexis Sanchez in a hard fought match. Manchester United has won their last four in a row, including a 2-1 victory vs. Stoke City on Tuesday. The Red Devils sit fourth on the table and have a great opportunity to seize third place with a victory on Monday at St. Mary’s Stadium.

Legendary commentator Andres Cantor and former Mexican National Team player Manuel Sol will call both matches.

The highly anticipated contest is a rematch of last year’s NFC Championship Game between the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers, won by the eventual Super Bowl-champion Seahawks, 23-17.

MIAMI – August 30, 2011 – Telemundo and the National Football League announced today that they have extended their six-year partnership through the 2013 NFL season and, together with NBC Sports, will offer season-long, special Spanish-language coverage of the NFL. This unprecedented partnership establishes Telemundo as the only Spanish-language broadcaster to air “Sunday Night Football,” with award-winning broadcasting announcer, Jessi Losada hosting the games and René Giraldo and Edgar López calling the play-by-play action in Spanish.

“Telemundo’s continued partnership with the NFL is one that our viewers and advertisers expect and have embraced. Deportes Telemundo is committed to lead and innovate in our industry and this expanded relationship with the NFL and NBC Sports is another example of that commitment,” said Jorge Hidalgo, senior executive vice president of Telemundo Sports.

The NFL returns to Telemundo through a production partnership with NBC Sports and simulcasts three of the season’s most anticipated games:

  • In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Telemundo will air an NFL Hispanic Heritage special on Sunday, September 25 at 7:30pm ET/4:30pm PT followed by the Pittsburgh Steelers taking on the Indianapolis Colts from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, site of Super Bowl XLVI. Both events will air on Telemundo in Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, San Diego, San Francisco/San Jose, and Washington.
  • The second NFL game to air on Telemundo will be between two NFC East rivals, the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys, on December 11 at 8:00pm ET/5:00pm PT.
  • Closing out the trio of matches will be the San Diego Chargers facing the Baltimore Ravens from Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego on December 18, at 8:00pm ET/5:00pm PT.

In addition to the simulcast with NBC Sports of three games, the new agreement brings Telemundo viewers three nationally broadcasted specials, including “2011 NFL Kickoff Presented by Verizon” on September 10 at 5pm ET/4:30pm PT, an NFL Playoff special on January 7, 2012 and a one-hour Super Bowl special which will air on Saturday, February 4. Deportes Telemundo and the hit show “The mun2 Arena” will also include NFL features during each week of the NFL season.

In addition to the NFL Hispanic Heritage special on September 25, a second regional special highlighting the NFL’s outreach to Hispanics across the country will air on Saturday, September 24. All of the NFL specials will be re-broadcast on mun2.

For Pachuca, the visiting team, Damian Manzo is a notable player.  He has scored six goals in this Bicentenario.  Edgar Benitez and Ulises Mendivil will also be handling offense.

The Clash of the Last Two Champions Airs this Saturday

Universal City, CA – April 2, 2010 – fútbol on mun2 presents, La Liga Mexicana Monterrey vs. UNAM soccer match, live and in English this Saturday April 3rd at 6:55pm ET, 3:55pm PT, only on mun2.

Monterrey, second place in the overall standings, takes on Los Pumas de la UNAM in this “Clash of the Last Two Champions” of fútbol Mexicano. With a win, Los Rayados del Monterrey can reach the top of the overall standings, while Pumas is in need of a victory if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Monterrey is currently undefeated in its last ten matches. UNAM has remained undefeated throughout its last six matches and has not given up a goal in the last 357 minutes that it has played. This is the 100th match between Monterrey and Pumas, with UNAM at an advantage with a total of 41 wins, 29 ties, and only 29 losses. The last seven matches between Los Rayados and Pumas have resulted in UNAM winning five games and Monterrey winning two.  Monterrey won only two out of their last eight games played at home against Pumas, and they are looking to put those losses behind them.

Players to Watch:

Pablo Barrera of Pumas has scored six goals in this tournament and has been selected to play for the Mexican national team. This will be the last chance to see Barrera – as well as teammates Efraín Juárez and Israel Castro – in action before the Mexican national team begins its World Cup preparation.

Monterrey’s Abraham Dario Carreño has scored five goals in the Bicentenario 2010 and Aldo De Nigris has scored three.
