Luton Town Set to Make Premier League Debut at Brighton & Hove Albion this Saturday, Aug. 12, at 10 a.m. ET on Peacock

Sheffield United Host Crystal Palace Saturday at 10 a.m. ET on Peacock

STAMFORD, Conn. – August 9, 2023 – The 2023-24 Premier League season, featuring newly promoted clubs Burnley, Luton Town, and Sheffield United, kicks off this weekend across the platforms of NBCUniversal, with the opening match on Friday, Aug. 11.

Following are profiles of the three newly promoted clubs heading into the 2023-24 Premier League season:

Burnley

First match: Friday, Aug. 11 – Burnley v. Manchester City at 3 p.m. ET on USA Network and Universo.

Burnley open the 2023-24 Premier League season in the first match of the year as The Clarets host defending PL champions Manchester City from Turf Moor.

Led by manager Vincent Kompany, Burnley return to the Premier League for the first time since 2021-22 after winning the Championship as the club scored the most goals and conceded the fewest in 2022-23. Kompany, who was inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame last year, played 11 seasons for Manchester City (2008-19) and won 10 major trophies, including captaining the club to four Premier League titles.

Burnley have won two league titles in England’s top-tier (1920-21 and 1959-60) and have spent eight previous seasons in the Premier League. In 2017-18, Burnley qualified for the Europa League while finishing seventh in the PL, their best-ever Premier League finish.

Based in Burnley, Lancashire, The Clarets have played their home matches at Turf Moor since 1883.

Luton Town

First match: Saturday, Aug. 12 – Brighton & Hove Albion v. Luton Town at 10 a.m. ET on Peacock.

Luton Town, who have earned four promotions in the last 10 seasons, are set to make their Premier League debut on Saturday, Aug. 12, as the club visit Brighton & Hove Albion at 10 a.m. ET on Peacock.

Founded in 1885, The Hatters last played in England’s top-flight in the 1991-92 season, the year before the Premier League debuted in 1992-93. Luton Town earned promotion to the PL after defeating Coventry City on penalties in the Championship Play-Off Final at Wembley Stadium in May.

Forward Carlton Morris led Luton Town with 20 Championship goals last season, the third-most in the league.

The club, managed by Rob Edwards, spent five seasons in non-league football before earning promotion back into the Football League in 2013-14. The Hatters made it back to the Championship following the 2018-19 season.

Luton Town home matches are played at Kenilworth Road, which is set to become the smallest stadium to ever host a Premier League match with a capacity of 10,073.

Sheffield United

First match: Saturday, Aug. 12 – Sheffield United v. Crystal Palace at 10 a.m. ET on Peacock.

Sheffield United return to the Premier League for the first time since 2020-21, opening the season at home v. Crystal Palace this Saturday at 10 a.m. ET on Peacock.

Led by manager Paul Heckingbottom, Sheffield United earned automatic promotion by finishing in second place in the Championship last season behind title-winners Burnley.

Sheffield United, who were one of the original 22 Premier League clubs in 1992, return for their sixth Premier League season.

Bramall Lane has served as The Blades’ home since the club’s formation in 1889.

Sun., July 30 2:45 p.m. Chelsea v. Fulham (Landover, Maryland) NBC, Peacock

The Premier League Summer Series, part of the League’s ongoing commitment to its U.S.-based fans, provides supporters with the in-person opportunity to watch a world-class lineup of Premier League players and mangers in action. In addition to the tournament, the Premier League will work closely with a range of grassroots and community organizations in each host city to create a program of community and youth soccer initiatives.

The tournament builds on the success of the eight Premier League Mornings Live fan festival events the Premier League and NBC Sports have hosted in multiple U.S. cities since 2018. These events have seen more than 60,000 fans attend live match screenings in iconic locations, coming together to share their passion for the competition.

Peacock’s expansive programming offers the most live sports of any SVOD service in the United States, including live coverage of the Premier League, Sunday Night Football, Big Ten football (beginning in September), Olympic Games, MLB Sunday Leadoff, Notre Dame Football, NASCAR, NTT IndyCar Series, and much more.  Peacock also offers daily sports programming on the NBC Sports channel.
