STAMFORD, Conn. – June 16, 2022 – Steve Kornacki, NBC News’ celebrated political correspondent, will officially ditch his famed khakis for the customary “top and tails” suit required at the prestigious Royal Ascot horse racing meet this Saturday in the U.K. (9 a.m. ET on NBC and Peacock).
Kornacki, who is making his debut at Royal Ascot, was fitted for the event today at Favourbrook in London.
The Royal Meeting is the center of the British social season and a pivotal week in the calendar of the Royal Family. Queen Elizabeth II has attended Royal Ascot every year since 1945, except for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I’m truly thrilled to get a chance to experience Royal Ascot in-person,” said Kornacki, who serves as NBC Sports’ horse racing insights analyst. “The tradition and pageantry of this event are unrivaled, and the races are some of the most competitive and difficult to handicap – although to be honest, it’s probably the dress code that most intimidates me.”
Kornacki will be joined on Saturday’s show by Royal Ascot veterans Britney Eurton and Nick Luck of NBC Sports and NBC News’ Dylan Dreyer. Eurton and Luck will serve as co-hosts, while Dreyer’s coverage will include access to the Royal Enclosure, one of the most exclusive and prestigious areas of access for the event.
