DOCUMENTARY FILM “THE BATTLE OF COMM AVE” MAKES ITS DEBUT ON NHL NETWORK U.S. FRIDAY, MARCH 5

NEW YORK (March 4, 2010) – Documentary film, “The Battle of Comm Ave.”, recounting the Boston College – Boston University rivalry, will makes its NHL Network™ U.S. debut on Friday, March 5 at 7:00 p.m. ET.  The picture will be broadcast in HD.

The film, narrated by Hall of Fame announcer Mike “Doc” Emrick examines the 91-year tussle between two of college hockey’s perennial powers.  It examines the development of the rivalry from its early days and brings viewers front and center as each school has won an NCAA championship the past two years.  From the history to the coaches and recruiting battles, from defining moments to pre-game jitters, hear the stories of what has become America’s premiere college hockey rivalry.

More than 50 players, coaches, observers and analysts were interviewed for the film.  Some recognizable faces from the rivalry include coaches Jerry York and Jack Parker; former BU standouts Mike Eruzione, Jack O’Callahan and Matt Gilroy; former BC stars Mike Mottau, Scott Clemmensen and Brian Gionta; and appearances by NHL personalities with ties to both programs.

On Thursday, March 4, the film’s director, Matt Fults, will be a guest on NHL Live! ™, the NHL’s daily radio show with hosts E.J. Hradek and Deb Placey.   NHL Live! is broadcast Monday through Friday on Sirius XM Radio, streamed on NHL.com and simulcast on NHL Network from noon – 2 p.m. ET.

NEW YORK (March 1, 2010) –The countdown to Wednesday’s NHL Trade Deadline (Mar. 3 at 3:00 p.m. ET) is on as NHL teams position themselves for the six-week push to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

NEW YORK (February 11, 2010) — The National Hockey League today announced its plan for NHL All-Access Vancouver™, a multi-platformed connection to news and information on the hockey competition at the 2010 Winter Games.

In less than a week, more than 140 NHL ® players will shed their NHL jerseys and compete for their countries on the world hockey stage. NHL All-Access Vancouver brings fans along for an exciting ride through internet, radio and television as NHL players, coaches and management strive for international dominance, golden moments and the fulfillment of lifelong dreams.

NHL.com, NHL Radio™ and NHL Network™ will launch NHL All-Access Vancouver on Sunday, February 14.  Pre- and post-game reports, expert analysis, feature interviews and special stories will cover the sights and sounds from the competing hockey nations.

The puck drops on the hockey competition on Tuesday, February 16, with a triple-header — Team USA, led by captain F Jamie Langenbrunner of the New Jersey Devils, will take on the Swiss; Captain D Scott Niedermayer of the Anaheim Ducks leads Canada against Norway; and Latvia takes on a skilled Russian team led by Washington Capitals F Alex Ovechkin.  Twelve days of fierce hockey competition follow until a champion is crowned on February 28.

NHL Network Partners with the American Hockey League to Broadcast Six Games in February and March

NHL NETWORK PARTNERS WITH THE AMERICAN HOCKEY LEAGUE TO BROADCAST SIX GAMES IN FEBRUARY AND MARCH
Feb. 20 Outdoor Game from Syracuse Highlights Schedule

NEW YORK (February 3, 2010) – NHL Network today announced that it will broadcast six regular-season American Hockey League games in February and March.  As the playoff races heat up and Calder Cup contenders emerge, hockey fans will have to opportunity to follow their favorite AHL clubs on national television.

The Mirabito Outdoor Classic, the American Hockey League’s first-ever outdoor game, will be the first game on NHL Network’s AHL schedule.  The Syracuse Crunch will host the Binghamton Senators in HD on February 20 at 1:00 p.m. ET at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse.

Subsequent NHL Network broadcasts will give fans a chance to see two clubs who are playing in their inaugural AHL seasons — the Abbotsford Heat and Texas Stars. NHL Network will be on hand on March 21, when Abbotsford plays at the Toronto Marlies and on March 28, when the Chicago Wolves play host to Texas.  The Lake Erie Monsters will play twice on NHL Network — at home against the Grand Rapids Griffins on Feb. 27 and then at Chicago on March 7.  The Griffins also take on their North Division rivals, the Rochester Americans, in an afternoon match on March 14.

In operation since 1936, the American Hockey League continues to serve as the top development league for all 30 NHL Clubs. This season, 85 percent of all NHL players are AHL graduates — including Boston Bruins teammates Tim Thomas and Zdeno Chara, winners of the 2008-09 Vezina and Norris Trophies, respectively, and Marc-Andre Fleury from the 2009 Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins.

Through the years, the American Hockey League has been the proving ground for some of the greatest players in the game’s history. There are 135 AHL alumni set to play in the 2010 Winter Olympics Games in Vancouver this month, and more than 100 honored members of the Hockey Hall of Fame — including players, coaches, executives and officials — have been affiliated with the AHL during their careers.

Blackhawks and Sharks Vie for Western Supremacy on NHL Network U.S. Thursday Night

BLACKHAWKS AND SHARKS VIE FOR WESTERN SUPREMACY ON NHL NETWORK U.S. THURSDAY NIGHT

NEW YORK (January 27, 2010) – Having waged a season-long battle for first place in the Western Conference and the best overall record in the National Hockey League, the Chicago Blackhawks and San Jose Sharks will meet face-to-face for the fourth and final time in the 2009-10 regular season Thursday night at HP Pavilion. And NHL Network™ U.S. will be on hand to broadcast the clash in HD to a nationwide audience.

Relentlessly pursuing their third straight Pacific Division title and second Presidents’ Trophy in a row, the Sharks have won five straight games and possess the League’s top record, 35-10-8. Forwards Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau and Dany Heatley all rank among the NHL’s top 10 scorers. And Evgeni Nabokov is among the top five goaltenders in the League in wins (30), goals against average (2.17), save percentage (.928) and shutouts (five).

All-Star San Jose defenseman Dan Boyle, who ranks third among NHL blueliners in scoring with 10 goals and 33 assists, will preview the clash when he appears this afternoon on NHL Live!, which is broadcast every weekday from noon to 2 p.m. ET on Sirius XM Radio, simulcast on NHL Network and streamed live on NHL.com.

Following up their resounding run to the Western Conference Final last season, the Blackhawks sit atop the Central Division with a 36-13-4 record and are just two points behind San Jose for first place overall in the NHL. Winger Patrick Kane leads the Hawks and ranks sixth in the NHL in scoring with 59 points (21-38-59). Defenseman Duncan Keith has 11 goals and 37 assists and is making a run at his first Norris Trophy.

Chicago has won two of the teams’ three meetings this season. A goal 41 seconds into overtime by D Brent Seabrook gave the ‘Hawks a 4-3 victory in Chicago Nov. 15. RW Marian Hossa scored two goals in his Blackhawks debut in a 7-2 Chicago romp ten days later in San Jose. Nabokov stole the show Dec. 22 in Chicago, when the Blackhawks outshot the Sharks, 47-14, only to have San Jose prevail, 3-2, on a goal and assist each by Thornton and Heatley.

NEW YORK (January 26, 2010) – NHL Network™ U.S. announced today that it will broadcast two days of grassroots programming to celebrate USA Hockey’s Hockey Weekend Across America, presented by Reebok, Jan. 29-31.

The puck drops for this celebration of hockey on Friday, January 29 at 6:00 p.m. ET, with a special broadcast of the 2009 U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame induction ceremonies that were held in Boston.  Former NHL All-Stars Tony Amonte, Tom Barrasso and John LeClair were inducted, along with the 1998 US Women’s Olympic Team and the late Frank Zamboni. An NCAA match-up of Top Five rivals follows at 8:30 p.m. ET, when No. 3-ranked Denver meets No. 4 North Dakota in live game action.

Clashes of the Titans: Ovechkin vs. Crosby Highlights Big-Game Week on NHL Network U.S.

NEW YORK (January 19, 2010) – NHL Network™ U.S. is the place where hockey fans must tune-in and stay tuned this week to catch three days of hockey’s best from the National Hockey League, Canadian Hockey League and the NCAA.

The first scheduled match up of the decade between Alex Ovechkin’s Washington Capitals and Sidney Crosby’s Pittsburgh Penguins will be broadcast live from Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh on Thursday, January 21 at 7:30 p.m. ET. The contest will mark the first meeting between Ovechkin and Crosby since they filled both nets in a seven-game playoff series won by the Penguins last spring.

Washington, which sits atop the Southeast Division, is tied with Buffalo for the Eastern Conference lead with 66 points.  Ovechkin’s plus-28 leads the League and he ranks second in the NHL in points (64), goals (30) and shots (209).

The Stanley Cup Champion Penguins recently completed a five-game road trip (3-2) and are home to the New York Islanders tonight.  They are fourth in the Eastern Conference standings with 61 points.  Crosby is on pace for his first 40-plus goal season and is tied for fourth in League scoring with 57 points.

The 2010 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game will air Wednesday, January 20, from Windsor, Ontario, starting at 7:00 p.m. ET.  Team rosters are comprised of 2010 NHL Draft-eligible players from the Ontario Hockey League, Western Hockey League and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. One team will be coached by the legendary Bobby Orr, the other by the irrepressible Don Cherry.

Friday night, two of the NCAA’s powerhouses face off at 8:00 p.m. ET to cap off three days of top-flight competition on NHL Network U.S. Denver, the top-ranked team in the nation, takes on No. 3 Wisconsin in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association showdown in Madison, Wisconsin.

TOP RANKED PLAYERS TO SHOWCASE THEIR SKILLS AT ANNUAL CHL EVENT

January 20 Broadcast Begins at 7:00 pm ET

NEW YORK (January 18, 2010) – NHL Network™ announced today that it will broadcast  the 2010 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game live on its U.S. Channel on Wednesday, January 20 starting at 7:00 p.m. ET.  Rogers Sportsnet and RDS will broadcast the game in Canada.

The 20-man rosters for the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game were selected by NHL General Managers along with NHL Central Scouting and include 18 players from the Ontario Hockey League, 13 players from the Western Hockey League, and nine players from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.  The game comes on the heels of the mid-season rankings release on January 11 by the NHL’s Central Scouting Bureau.

Windsor Spitfires (OHL) players LW Taylor Hall (ranked first) and D Cam Fowler (ranked third) will suit up for Team Cherry [Don] while second ranked C Tyler Seguin from the OHL’s Plymouth Whalers will play for Team Orr [Bobby].

The 2009 event was held in Oshawa, ON, and featured all 16 CHL players that were selected in the first round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft including the New York Islanders’ first overall pick John Tavares.  In addition to Tavares, seven other NHL stars have participated in the Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game before being selected first overall including Chris Phillips, Joe Thornton, Vincent Lecavalier, Rick Nash, Marc-Andre Fleury, Patrick Kane, and Steven Stamkos.

Guests Include Top Prospects Hall and Fowler and the One-Two McGuire Punch

NEW YORK (January 8, 2010) – NHL Network™ today announced that a special 30-minute edition of On The Fly will air on Monday, January 11. On The Fly: Central Scouting Mid-Season Rankings will air at 7:00 p.m. ET and will also be streamed live on NHL.com.

Windsor Spitfires’ (Ontario Hockey League) stars and NHL top prospects for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft D Cam Fowler and LW Taylor Hall, fresh off IIHF World Junior Championship gold and silver medal wins, for the U.S. and Canada respectively, will join On The Fly host Brian Duff for the unveiling of Central Scouting’s mid-season rankings. NHL Director of Scouting EJ McGuire, will also give fans an inside look at some of the gems in this year’s Draft class.

As well, NBC and TSN’s Pierre McGuire, who provided analysis at the recent World Junior tournament, will breakdown the top players and give his thoughts on the upcoming Draft.

The Los Angeles Kings will host the 2010 NHL Entry Draft on June 25-26, 2010. Round one, on Friday, June 25, will be broadcast live by Versus in the U.S. and TSN and RDS in Canada as well as NHL Radio, beginning at 7:00 p.m. ET. NHL Network will exclusively carry rounds 2-7 on Saturday, June 26, beginning at 1:00 p.m. ET.

CELEBRATE NEW YEAR’S DAY AGAIN WITH THE BRUINS AND FLYERS
Encore Presentation of Broadcasts Slated for Saturday, January 9

NEW YORK (January 7, 2010) – NHL Network™ U.S. today announced that special encore presentations of the 2010 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic® hosted from historic Fenway Park in Boston will re-air on Saturday, January 9. The NBC telecast will begin at noon ET and be followed by the CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada telecast at 2:30 p.m. ET.

The broadcast team of Bob Costas, Mike Emrick, Eddie Olczyk, Mike Milbury and Darren Pang called the game on NBC while CBC’s team consisted of Jim Hughson, Craig Simpson, Glenn Healy and Elliotte Friedman.

More than 38,000 fans at Fenway Park celebrated the New Year with the Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers in the NHL’s first game of the decade. The outdoor game provided a thrilling overtime finish for hometown fans and the NHL’s third installment of the Winter Classic is sure to be a fan favorite and a classic for years to come.
