SUPERMOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

The first-ever SuperMotocross World Championship Playoffs conclude this Saturday at 10 p.m. ET on USA Network and Peacock with the 2023 SuperMotocross World Championship Final from Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, Calif. An exclusive Peacock pre-game show begins at 9:30 p.m. ET.

In the 450 class, Chase Sexton leads last week’s overall winner Jett Lawrence by two points and both racers enter the finale in a winner-take-all scenario for the premier class championship. Ken Roczen (3rd), Aaron Plessinger (4th), and Dylan Ferrandis (5th) also have a chance to win the title.

In the 250 class it is another winner-take-all situation as Chicagoland winner Hunter Lawrence leads Jo Shimoda and Haiden Deegan. Whomever finishes in front of the other two will become the first-ever 250 SMX World Champion.

Leigh Diffey will handle play-by-play alongside two motorsports icons in seven-time AMA Motocross Premier Class champion and five-time AMA Supercross Premier Class champion Ricky Carmichael and two-time AMA Supercross Premier Class 450 champion and 2008 Pro Motocross champion James Stewart.

INDYCAR: FIRESTONE GRAND PRIX OF MONTEREY

The final race of the 2023 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season, the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey, will be presented from WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca this Sunday at 3 p.m. ET on NBC, Peacock and Universo. Alex Palou clinched his second career INDYCAR championship last weekend with a win at the Grand Prix of Portland.

INDYCAR: GRAND PRIX OF PORTLAND

The penultimate race of the 2023 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season, the Grand Prix of Portland, will be presented from Portland International Raceway this Sunday at 3 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock. 2021 series champion Alex Palou can potentially clinch his second career INDYCAR championship this weekend depending on his finish and the finish of his teammate, six-time series champion Scott Dixon.

STAMFORD, Conn. – Aug. 10, 2023 – NBC Sports presents a weekend of NASCAR and INDYCAR racing from historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend, as the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series and NTT INDYCAR SERIES all compete on the IMS road course this Saturday and Sunday across NBC, USA Network and Peacock. This marks the fourth consecutive year that IMS has hosted NASCAR and INDYCAR races on the same weekend.

The NASCAR Cup Series will race on the IMS road course for the third time ever on Sunday with the Verizon 200 at the Brickyard at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC. Countdown to Green begins pre-race coverage at 2 p.m. ET on NBC with NASCAR America post-race immediately following the checkered flag at 6 p.m. ET exclusively on Peacock.

Saturday’s doubleheader on the IMS road course begins at 2 p.m. ET on USA Network and Peacock with pre-race coverage leading into the NTT INDYCAR SERIES Gallagher Grand Prix at 2:30 p.m. ET, followed by USA Network’s coverage of the NASCAR Xfinity Series Pennzoil 150 presented by Advance Auto Parts at 5:30 p.m. ET.

This Friday at 3 p.m. ET, NBC Sports will host a press event at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway press center featuring NASCAR analysts Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Burton, and Steve Letarte, and INDYCAR analysts James Hinchcliffe and Townsend Bell to preview this weekend’s races.

2017 NASCAR Cup Series champion Martin Truex Jr. currently leads the season points standings (2035), with only 17 points separating him from fifth-place Kyle Larson. Chris Buescher won his second consecutive Cup Series race in the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan on Monday.

The Cup Series field will feature a variety of entrants, including Shane van Gisbergen, who won the inaugural race on the streets of Chicago in his Cup Series debut last month, as well as 2009 F1 champion Jenson Button, Brodie Kostecki, Kamui Kobayashi and Mike Rockenfeller.

Two-time Daytona 500 Champion and NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Dale Earnhardt Jr., 21-time Cup Series race winner and “The Mayor” of NASCAR Jeff Burton, and Daytona 500-winning crew chief Steve Letarte will serve as analysts for the Cup and Xfinity Series races from IMS with lead NASCAR race announcer Rick Allen.

Marty Snider, Dave Burns, and Kim Coon will serve as pit reporters during both races this weekend.

Snider will anchor studio coverage alongside NASCAR Hall of Fame driver and two-time Brickyard 400 winner Dale Jarrett from the Peacock Pit Box during pre- and post-race coverage on Saturday and Sunday. NBC Sports INDYCAR analyst James Hinchcliffe will join Sunday’s Countdown to Green pre-race coverage.

PRO MOTOCROSS: UNADILLA NATIONAL

The 2023 Pro Motocross Championship season continues with the Unadilla National this Saturday in New Berlin, N.Y., with uninterrupted coverage of every moto from 1-5 p.m. ET on Peacock, and NBC airing uninterrupted coverage beginning at 3 p.m. ET. Peacock will also stream an exclusive post-race program.

Jett Lawrence, who has won all 16 motos this season, can clinch the 450 Class Championship if he leads by at least 100 points following this weekend’s race. Hunter Lawrence and Haiden Deegan are only separated by three points in the 250 Class standings following Deegan’s first career moto sweep at Washougal.

STAMFORD, Conn. – Aug. 3, 2023 – NBC Sports’ extensive motorsports coverage this weekend features the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Mich., and the NTT INDYCAR SERIES from the streets of Nashville across NBC, USA Network and Peacock, as well as the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and MotoGP.

NASCAR: CUP SERIES FIREKEEPERS CASINO 400 & XFINITY SERIES CABO WABO 250

As the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs battle continues, Michigan International Speedway hosts the FireKeepers Casino 400 this Sunday at 2:30 p.m. ET on USA Network. Countdown to Green pre-race coverage begins Sunday at 2 p.m. ET on USA Network and post-race coverage gets underway immediately following the checkered flag on USA Network and Peacock.

NBC and Peacock present the NASCAR Xfinity Series Cabo Wabo 250 this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET with a 30-minute Countdown to Green beginning at 3 p.m. ET.

Cup Series practice and qualifying at Michigan takes place Saturday at 12:30 p.m. ET on USA Network, while Xfinity Series practice and qualifying will be presented tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. ET on USA Network.

With only four races remaining in the regular season, Martin Truex Jr. leads the Cup Series Playoffs points standings followed by William Byron and Denny Hamlin. Kevin Harvick won last year’s Cup Series race at Michigan and owns six career victories at the speedway.

Jarrett and JTG Daugherty Racing team owner Brad Daugherty will anchor studio coverage from the Peacock Pit Box alongside Snider during pre- and post-race coverage on Saturday and Sunday.

Jarrett is a four-time winner at Michigan International Speedway, earning victories in 1991, 1996, 1999, and 2002, while Earnhardt Jr. won at the track in 2008 and 2012.

Last Sunday’s Cup Series race at Richmond Raceway on USA Network was the most-watched Cup Series Richmond race since 2016, averaging a Total Audience Delivery (TAD) of 2.459 million viewers, while the Xfinity Series race at Road America on NBC and Peacock averaged a TAD of 1.588 million viewers to rank as NBC Sports’ most-watched Xfinity Series race since 2020. INDYCAR: BIG MACHINE MUSIC CITY GRAND PRIX

The NTT INDYCAR SERIES heads to the streets of Nashville with the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix this Sunday at noon ET on NBC and Peacock. After sweeping the doubleheader at Iowa Speedway earlier this month, 2023 Indianapolis 500 winner and two-time series champion Josef Newgarden (397 pts) aims to continue to narrow 2021 INDYCAR champion Alex Palou’s (477 pts) lead atop the 2023 points standings with five races remaining this season. NTT INDYCAR Series Iowa Doubleheader Races on NBC Average More Than 1 Million Viewers, Up 31% vs. 2022 Doubleheader

NBC Sports Enjoying Most-Watched NTT INDYCAR Series Season Since 2016

STAMFORD, Conn. – July 25, 2023 – NBC Sports’ coverage of the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series at Pocono Raceway and the NTT INDYCAR Series doubleheader from Iowa Speedway delivered viewership milestones across both NBC and USA Network this past weekend, according to data provided by The Nielsen Company and Adobe Analytics.

 

NASCAR CUP AND XFINITY SERIES

Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Pocono 400 on USA Network (2:55-6:18 p.m. ET) averaged a TAD of 2.834 million viewers, up 8% vs. last year’s race (2.623 million) to rank as NBC Sports’ most-watched Cup Series race on cable since 2019 (Michigan, NBCSN, 2.929 million).

 

  • Most-watched NASCAR Cup Series race on any cable network in more than two years (Darlington, FS1, 3.149 million);
  • Most-watched sports event of the week on cable and second most-watched sports event of the weekend on all networks behind Sunday’s Final Round coverage of the 151st Open Championship on NBC;
  • Most-watched Pocono race since 2017;
  • Cup Series qualifying on USA Network averaged 455,000 viewers, up 22% vs. last year’s average on the network.

 

Overall, NBC Sports is off to its most-watched NASCAR Cup Series season since 2018, averaging a TAD of 2.887 million viewers through five races.

 

Additionally, the Xfinity Series saw viewership gains on USA Network:

 

  • Saturday’s Pocono 225 on USA Network (5:57-7:50 p.m. ET) averaged a TAD of 964,000 viewers, up 4% vs. 2022;
  • Friday’s Xfinity Series qualifying averaged 311,000 viewers, up 33% vs. last year’s average on the network.

 

Overall, NBC Sports’ Xfinity Series coverage is averaging a TAD of 950,000 viewers, up 9% vs. 2022.

 

NTT INDYCAR SERIES

NBC Sports’ coverage of the NTT INDYCAR Series doubleheader from Iowa Speedway on NBC/Peacock on Saturday and Sunday averaged a combined TAD of 1.121 million viewers, up 31% from last year’s combined doubleheader (853,000 viewers).

Saturday’s Hy-Vee Homefront 250 (2:55-5 p.m. ET) averaged a TAD of 1.145 million viewers to rank as NBC Sports’ most-watched non-Indy 500 race since the season-opener at St. Pete on NBC, and the most-watched Iowa race since 2008.

Sunday’s Hy-Vee Onestep 250 (2:29-4:17 p.m. ET) averaged a TAD of 1.092 million viewers, delivering NBC Sports’ sixth INDYCAR race to eclipse 1 million viewers this season.

Through 11 races, the 2023 NTT INDYCAR Series is averaging a TAD of 1.512 million viewers to rank as the most-watched season to this point since 2016, when media rights were split between NBCSN and ABC.
