STAMFORD, Conn. – April 9, 2024 – NBC Sports earned 24 Sports Emmy Award nominations for 2023, highlighted by nominations for its coverage of Sunday Night Football, the 149th Kentucky Derby, golf, and more.

The announcement was made today by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The winners will be announced on Tuesday, May 21.

Highlights of NBC Sports’ nominations:

    • Sunday Night Football — primetime television’s No. 1 show for an unprecedented 13 consecutive seasons – earned six nominations, including for Outstanding Live Sports Series, which it has won 11 times in the past 15 years;

 

    • NBC Sports received a nomination in the Outstanding Playoff Coverage category for its presentations of the NFL Playoffs on NBC and Peacock;

 

    • NASCAR on NBC earned an Outstanding Technical Team Event nomination for the Chicago Street Race;

 

    • NBC Sports earned two nominations in the Outstanding Open/Tease category for Timeless on The 149th Kentucky Derby coverage and Heidi on SNF. In addition, SNF earned a nomination for The Dick Schaap Outstanding Writing Award – Short Form for its opening teases throughout the season;

 

    • Mike Tirico was nominated for Outstanding Sports Personality – Play-by-Play following his second season as the play-by-play voice of Sunday Night Football/ Tirico has won the Sports Emmy in the Host category for the past two years;

 

    • Cris Collinsworth, winner of 17 Sports Emmys, was nominated in the Outstanding Sports Personality – Event Analyst category for the 17th time in the past 18 years;

 

    • Noah Eagle, the voice of NBC Sports’ Big Ten Saturday Night games, was nominated for Outstanding Sports Personality – Emerging On-Air.

 

    • Kaylee Hartung, who worked two NFL playoff games for NBC Sports in addition to her role on Prime Video’s Thursday Night Football, was nominated for Outstanding Sports Personality – Sports Reporter;

 

    • Andrés Cantor (Telemundo), winner of four Sports Emmys, was nominated for Outstanding On-Air Sports Personality in Spanish, along with Telemundo Deportes colleague Miguel Gurwitz.

NEW YORK, NY – May 22, 2023 – NBC Sports tonight won eight Sports Emmy Awards for excellence in sports television production, highlighted by multiple honors for the XXIV Olympic Winter Games. The awards were presented by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences at Frederick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center.

NBCUniversal’s presentation of the XXIV Olympic Winter Games from Beijing in Feb. 2022 won four Sports Emmys, including for Outstanding Live Sports Special.

In addition:

 

  • Mike Tirico, for the second consecutive year, earned the Sports Emmy for Outstanding Sports Personality – Studio Host, following a stretch in which he anchored the Beijing Olympics in primetime, horse racing’s Triple Crown, golf’s U.S. Open, and the Indianapolis 500.

 

  • Andrés Cantor (Telemundo) won his fifth Sports Emmy for Outstanding On-Air Sports Personality in Spanish, punctuated by his work on the Copa Mundial de la FIFA Qatar 2022.

 

  • Telemundo Deportes’ Copa Mundial de la FIFA Qatar 2022 earned the Sports Emmy for Outstanding Studio Show in Spanish.

NEW YORK, NY – August 12, 2020 – NBC Sports Group last night won three Sports Emmy Awards for excellence in sports television production, highlighted by Mike “Doc” Emrick’s record-setting win for play-by-play, and honors for GOLF Channel and NASCAR on NBC. The awards were presented by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in a virtual ceremony.

Emrick’s Sports Emmy for Outstanding Sports Personality – Play-by-Play marks his record-setting seventh consecutive win in the category and is his eighth play-by-play win in the last 10 years.

GOLF Channel’s NCAA Golf Championships – Life Without Katie: The Jason Enloe Story took home the award for Outstanding Short Feature, while NASCAR on NBC was honored for Outstanding Live Event Audio/Studio.

STAMFORD, Conn. – March 26, 2020 – NBC Sports Group earned 24 Sports Emmy Award nominations for 2019, highlighted by recognition for its coverage of the NFL, NHL, Kentucky Derby, NASCAR, Premier League, FIFA Women’s World Cup, golf, and Tour de France.

The announcement was made today by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Highlights of NBC Sports Group’s nominations:

  • Sunday Night Football – primetime television’s No. 1 show – was nominated again for Outstanding Live Sports Series, which it has won 10 times in the past 11 years;
  • NBC received two nominations in the Outstanding Live Sports Special category for its presentations of the 2019 Stanley Cup Final and the 145th Kentucky Derby;
  • NBC earned a nomination in the Outstanding Studio Show – Weekly category for Football Night in America, and a nomination for Outstanding Studio Show – Daily for NHL Live;
  • Tour de France coverage on NBC and NBCSN garnered nominations for its Outstanding Technical Team Remote, and The George Wensel Technical Achievement Award for augmented reality;
  • NBC and NBCSN earned a nomination in the Outstanding Editing – Long Form category for its production of the documentary Drive Like Andretti about the life of motorsports icon Mario Andretti;
  • Mike Tirico (NBC) was nominated in the Outstanding Sports Personality – Host category for the second consecutive year;
  • Mike “Doc” Emrick (NBC), who has won the Sports Emmy for Outstanding Sports Personality – Play-by-Play in six consecutive years and seven of the last nine, was nominated once again in the category along with Al Michaels (NBC) and Kenny Albert (NBC/NBCSN);
  • Cris Collinsworth, winner of 16 Sports Emmys throughout his career, was nominated for the Outstanding Sports Personality – Sports Event Analyst category;
  • Michele Tafoya (NBC), the only three-time winner of the Outstanding Sports Personality – Sports Reporter Emmy, was nominated for the ninth time in the nine-year history of the category;
  • Andrés Cantor (Telemundo), winner of three Sports Emmys, was nominated for Outstanding On-Air Sports Personality in Spanish.

STAMFORD, Conn. – April 3, 2019 – NBC Sports Group earned 38 Sports Emmy Award nominations for 2018, highlighted by 12 nominations for its coverage of the XXIII Olympic Winter Games from PyeongChang, South Korea – the most of any single program this year.

The announcement was made today by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Winners will be announced by the Academy on Monday, May 20, at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City.

Highlights of NBC Sports Group’s nominations:
