TBS announcers did a travesty to the both teams by talking about mundane items while the players were being introduced. For many players it could be the only time for that to happen and they chose to ignore the whole sequence. Very poor sports announcing.
The TBS announcers are shamelessly pro Orioles. I am turning my tv down and listening to decent action coverage on the radio. Shame on you TBS.
Ron Darling’s insulting description on Saturday during TNT’s TV presentation (KC vs Baltimore) that the KC Royals are “a blue collar team” and are good representatives of their blue collar town is typical east coast ignorance and snobbery. To Mr. Darling, anything west of Millbury, MA, his hometown, or Yale is just too low on his intellectual scale to deserve much respect or attention.
We wonder how a guy who used to be able to throw a little round ball at a mit and worked in Oakland, CA (truly a mecca for intellectuals) can now make such rude comments? We also are thinking about if his beloved fans in Oakland might now be wondering what he really thought about them as he cashed their paychecks–are we also one of Ron’s dreaded “blue collar cities”?
TNT needs to find a true professional to make comments about baseball, Americans and American cities!
Ron darling is probably the worst commentator I’ve heard cover mlb. He has absolutely talked up the Baltimore and down about KC. I will never listen to a game that he is broadcasting. TV will be muted and radio on. Cal has done a great job at not being impartial… Ron just doesn’t know what he’s talking abou most the time because he knows nothing about KC Royal baseball.
I don’t watch any baseball during the year, I only watch post season…why? Because I hate the camera views and angles. Why don’t you provide something NOBODY else has ever provided to us baseball viewers, that would be a camera view that makes me feel like I am at the ballpark. Instead this is what we are treated to; the batters face, pitchers face, managers face, a fans face, the 1st basemans face, back to the batters face, pitchers face, NOW go they go to the center field view of the pitch being thrown, the same angle we have seen for the past 40 years and we see it over and over and over. Give me a view that allows me to see the entire FIELD. If football was covered like baseball the viewing audience would be 50% less. In football TV viewers can see the WHOLE field. In baseball I have no idea what any of the players besides the pitcher, batter and home plate umpire are doing. Can someone please think outside the BOX! Back the camera up 20 rows behind the dugout and make me feel like I am watching the game from a stadium seat; not my couch.
