STAMFORD, Conn. – August 12, 2020 – NBC Sports begins track & field coverage this week on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA with the Diamond League’s first non-exhibition event of the season in Monaco, live this Friday, August 14, at 2 p.m. ET, while also presenting Best of 2019: Track & Field today, Wednesday, August 12 at 4:30 p.m. ET. The Monaco competition will also stream live Friday on NBC Sports Gold’s “Track and Field Pass and NBCSN will present encore coverage this Saturday, August 15 at 10 p.m. ET.
Americans expected to compete in Friday’s Monaco competition are reigning world champions Noah Lyles (200m), Donavan Brazier (800m), Grant Holloway (110m hurdles), and pole vaulter Sam Kendricks, who also won a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. All four athletes plan on competing in the events in which they won world titles last fall.
Paul Swangard handles the call, joined by four-time Olympic medalist Ato Boldon and two-time Olympian Amy Cragg as analysts.
Today’s special, hosted by NBC Sports play-by-play announcer Leigh Diffey, highlights five world titles, two world records, and two American records among six U.S. track & field stars during the 2019 season. Featured athletes include Brazier, Holloway, reigning Olympic champion Dalilah Muhammad (400m hurdles), 2016 Olympic silver medalist Joe Kovacs (shot put), and 2016 Olympians Shelby Houlihan (5000m) and DeAnna Price (hammer throw).
