September 8, 2015: NFL Network’s coverage of the 2015 NFL season features a slate of original programming, highlighted by the premiere of a new documentary series Football Town and two, one-hour specials Catching Odell and the exclusive NFL Films special Do Your Job: Bill Belichick and the 2014 Patriots. In addition to the new original programming, NFL Network will return the Emmy-nominated series Undrafted for a second season, along with the fifth season of A Football Life and the one-hour show, America’s Game.
Following its airing on NFL Network, all original programming shows and series are available on demand in two ways: through a viewer’s cable or satellite providers on demand offering, and digitally through NFL Media’s NFL Game Pass subscription product (click here for details).
New for 2015, NFL Network introduces Football Town, a series which will explore small towns and cities where football is much more than a sport – it’s the thread that weaves the community together. The subject for the first season premiering Tuesday, September 22 at 9:00 PM ET is Barrow, Alaska and the Barrow High School football team.
Football Town: Barrow, Alaska is an eight-episode cinematic docu-series that will follow the incredible journey of the Barrow High School Whalers, who live at the northernmost point in the United States, as they attempt to win the state championship for the first time in school history. Following the premiere episode on September 22, Football Town: Barrow, Alaska will air Tuesdays at 8:30 PM ET on NFL Network, with a special encore presentation of each episode every Thursday following the Thursday Night Football postgame show.
320 miles north of the Arctic Circle, the Barrow High School Whalers play on a blue turf football field located on a narrow peninsula between the Arctic Ocean and a frozen lagoon. Despite never having experienced the Friday night lights of the lower 48 states, the Barrow High School team lives for football. Over the past 10 years in Barrow, football has been something for the small Native American community of 4,000 people to rally around and believe in. With no highway roads in or out of Barrow – and with the closest opponent 500 miles away – the team must fly to every away game.
Football Town: Barrow, Alaska is co-produced by NFL Network in association with Leftfield Pictures (Pawn Stars, Alone) and Northern Lights Media.
