NBC and NBCSN to Present Six Spartan Races in 2016

STAMFORD, Conn. – July 19, 2016 – NBC Sports Group kicks off its coverage of the 2016 Spartan Race U.S. Championship Series, tomorrow at 11 p.m. ET on NBCSN, with the Big Sky Sprint from Kalispell, Montana. Recognized as one of the most challenging courses of the year, 3000 athletes from around the world participated in the race, which traversed more than 12 miles and 20 obstacles across the shores of Flathead Lake.

Highlights include a head-to-head battle between 2015 Spartan Race Champion Robert Killian and elite competitor Ryan Atkins. In addition, the show features a compelling contest between women’s elite competitors Lindsay Webster and Faye Stenning.

NBC and NBCSN will telecast five additional races during the 2016 U.S. Championship Series. Following the success of its debut on NBCSN in 2014, the Spartan Race U.S. Championship Series returns for a third season with new obstacles, new race locations, and more of the world’s best athletes competing for $500,000 in cash and prizes, and the title of Spartan Race World Champion. During each telecast, viewers will be provided a front-row seat to competitors tackling a gauntlet of obstacles, including fire jumps, aerial traverses over water, challenging rope climbs and barbed wire crawls.

STAMFORD, Conn. – September 14, 2015 – NBC Sports Group continues its coverage of the 2015 Reebok Spartan Race season, tomorrow at 10 p.m. ET on NBCSN, from Blue Mountain Ski Resort in Palmerton, Pa.

Featuring one of the longest and highest elevation courses of the season (8 miles and 3200 feet of elevation gain), participants competed through dirt, mud, and 32 different obstacles. Women’s Elite Series competitors included 2013 Spartan Race Women’s World Champion Amelia Boone, Lindsay Webster and Claude Godbout. Ryan Atkins, Robert Killian and Cody Moat battled for the top spot in the Men’s Elite Series race.

Veteran host and play-by-play announcer Sal Masekela will call the action for the telecast. Masekela will be joined by field reporter Christmas Abbott.

STAMFORD, Conn. – July 20, 2015 – NBC Sports Group kicks off its coverage of the 2015 Reebok Spartan Race season tomorrow at 11 p.m. ET on NBCSN with the Montana Beast from Bigfork, Montana. Widely recognized as one of the most challenging courses of the year, more than 3,500 athletes from around the world participated in the race, which traversed 5.2 miles and 24 obstacles across the hills of northwest Montana.

Highlights include a neck-and-neck battle between 20-time Spartan Race winner Rose Wetzel and 2013 Spartan Race women’s world champion Amelia Boone, as Boone returns to competition for the first time since suffering a season-ending ACL injury last year. In addition, the show features a compelling contest between men’s elite competitors John Yatsko, Matt Novakovich and Glenn Racz.
