STAMFORD, Conn. – May 1, 2023 – NBC Sports presents 7.5 hours of the 149th Kentucky Derby on NBC and Peacock this Saturday, May 6, beginning at noon ET live from iconic Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky., marking the most hours ever on broadcast for the event.

NBC Sports’ Derby day coverage features nine races across NBC and Peacock on Saturday. Live coverage from Churchill Downs begins with five hours of Kentucky Oaks day racing this Friday, May 5, beginning at 1 p.m. ET on USA Network and Peacock. Over the two days, NBC Sports will present 15 live races from Churchill Downs.

For the first time, Telemundo Deportes will present coverage of the Kentucky Derby, beginning Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET on Universo, and streaming on TelemundoDeportes.com and the Telemundo app.

The 149th Kentucky Derby features likely morning-line favorite Forte, who has won six of seven career starts, including the Florida Derby (G1) in his last start in April, and finished as the Kentucky Derby qualifying points leader. Other contenders include 2023 Santa Anita Derby (G1) winner Practical Move, this year’s Arkansas Derby (G1) winner Angel of Empire, 2023 Blue Grass Stakes (G1) winner Tapit Trice, and 2023 UAE Derby (G2) winner Derma Sotogake.

COMMENTATORS: NBC Sports’ coverage of the Kentucky Derby features host Mike Tirico, anchoring Derby coverage for the seventh time; analysts Jerry Bailey, the Hall of Fame jockey and two-time Kentucky Derby winner, and Randy Moss, who is covering the Derby for the 43rd time; handicappers Eddie Olczyk and Matt Bernier; host Ahmed Fareed; reporters Britney Eurton, Donna Brothers, Kenny Rice, and Nick Luck; and race caller Larry Collmus. Rebecca Lowe also returns to NBC Sports’ coverage and will examine the traditions and pageantry surrounding the “Run for the Roses.”

Steve Kornacki, NBC News’ celebrated national political correspondent, returns to NBC Sports’ Kentucky Derby coverage as an insights analyst for the third year. NBC Sports’ Dale Earnhardt Jr. will serve as a contributor, while Matthew Berry makes his Derby debut to offer a unique look at betting on horse racing’s biggest event.

NBC News’ Dylan Dreyer, who has previously been part of NBC Sports’ Kentucky Derby and Royal Ascot horse racing coverage, and E!’s Sanya Richards-Ross, who returns for her second Derby, will serve as fashion and lifestyle correspondents. NBC Sports’ Tim Layden will write and narrate an essay on the 50th anniversary of Secretariat’s track record Derby win en route to his historic Triple Crown in 1973.

The senior producer of NBC Sports’ Kentucky Derby coverage is Lindsay Schanzer. The Kentucky Derby is directed by Kaare Numme. Saturday’s early race coverage is produced by Billy Matthews and directed by Jared Sumner. Executive producer and president, NBC Sports Production is Sam Flood.

STAMFORD, Conn. – April 6, 2023 – NBC Sports presents live coverage of the $750,000 Santa Anita Derby (G1) and the $1 million Blue Grass Stakes (G1) this Saturday, April 8, live at 4 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock from 1/ST’s Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif., and Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Ky. STAMFORD, Conn. – March 2, 2023 – NBC Sports presents continuing coverage of the 1/ST RACING TOUR this Saturday, March 4, live at 4 p.m. ET on CNBC and Peacock. The two-hour program, featuring seven live races, will be headlined by the $400,000 Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) from 1/ST’s Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla., and the $400,000 San Felipe Stakes (G2) from 1/ST’s Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif.

2022 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Forte is the morning-line favorite in the Fountain of Youth Stakes and currently sits third in the Road to the Kentucky Derby standings. National Treasure, who finished third in the 2022 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, is expected to headline the San Felipe Stakes field.

The Fountain of Youth Stakes and San Felipe Stakes will both award a total of 100 Kentucky Derby qualification points, with 50 going to the winners of each race.

The additional stakes races that will be presented live on CNBC and Peacock are the Honey Fox Stakes (G3), Davona Dale Stakes (G2), and Mac Diarmida Stakes (G2) from Gulfstream Park as well as the Buena Vista Stakes (G2) from Santa Anita Park. An allowance race from Santa Anita will also air live during Saturday’s coverage.

STAMFORD, Conn. – Jan. 26, 2023 – NBC Sports begins its 2023 horse racing coverage with the first major event of the year, the $4.5 million Pegasus World Cup Series, from Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla., this Saturday, Jan. 28, live at 4:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock. In its seventh year, the Pegasus World Cup Series includes the $3 million Pegasus World Cup (G1) and the $1 million Pegasus World Cup Turf (G1).

The 2023 Pegasus World Cup field features multiple Grade 1-winner and 2022 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) second-place finisher Cyberknife, who is the morning-line favorite at 5/2. Also expected to compete in the 12-horse field at 1 1/8-miles on the dirt are 2022 Florida Derby (G1) champion White Abarrio and 2022 Awesome Again (G1) winner Defunded, who is trained by two-time Pegasus World Cup champion Bob Baffert.

The 12-horse field of this year’s Pegasus World Cup Turf includes 2022 Fort Lauderdale (G2) winner City Man, 2022 Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) fourth-place finisher and 5/2 morning-line favorite Ivar, and 2022 Hollywood Derby (G1) champion Speaking Scout.

Live Coverage of the Richest Two Days in Horse Racing Begins This Friday at 2 p.m. ET on USA Network & Saturday at 1 p.m. ET on USA Network; Saturday Coverage on NBC and Peacock Begins at 3:30 p.m. ET

STAMFORD, Conn. – Nov. 1, 2022 – NBC Sports and Peacock present nine hours of live coverage of the 2022 Breeders’ Cup World Championships this weekend — the richest two days in horse racing — with a total of $31 million in prize money at stake in 14 races. Headlining the weekend’s coverage is the $6 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock live from Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Ky.

Highlighting Saturday’s star-studded Breeders’ Cup Classic field is:

  • Flightline: undefeated in five starts by a combined margin of 62 ¾ lengths, including a 19 ¼ length victory in the Grade 1 Pacific Classic, his most recent race;
  • Epicenter: runner-up in the first two legs of this year’s Triple Crown who won the Grade 1 Travers in his most recent race and has finished second-or-better in every race since his debut 10 starts ago;
  • Rich Strike: this year’s 80-1 longshot Kentucky Derby winner who is trained by Eric Reed and ridden by jockey Sonny Leon;
  • Taiba: three-year-old who is a two-time Grade 1 winner and is trained by four-time Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Bob Baffert;
  • Life is Good: four-time Grade 1 winner who was victorious in last year’s Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile.

Live racing coverage of the 39th Breeders’ Cup World Championships begins this Friday featuring the Juveniles in action at 2 p.m. ET on USA Network. Five hours of live coverage on Saturday begins at 1 p.m. ET on USA Network and continues on NBC and Peacock at 3:30 p.m. ET. The Breeders’ Cup Classic has a post time of 5:40 p.m. ET. In addition to the Classic, the Breeders’ Cup Distaff (3:55 p.m. ET post time) and Breeders’ Cup Turf (4:40 p.m. ET post time) will be presented live Saturday on NBC and Peacock.

COMMENTATORS: Ahmed Fareed hosts coverage on Friday and Saturday alongside analyst and Hall of Fame jockey Jerry Bailey, who owns 15 Breeders’ Cup wins; analyst Randy Moss; reporters Britney Eurton, Kenny Rice, and Nick Luck; handicappers Eddie Olczyk and Matt Bernier; insights analyst Steve Kornacki; and Donna Brothers, who will report on horseback. Larry Collmus will call all of the Breeders’ Cup races.

NBC Sports’ handicapping “Betting the Breeders’ Cup” series previewing each of the 14 World Championship races will be presented across NBC Sports digital platforms beginning on Thursday. Eurton, Luck, Olczyk, Bernier, and Kornacki will be featured in the digital series.
