STAMFORD, Conn. – Feb. 25, 2021 – NBC Sports presents live gymnastics coverage of the 2021 Winter Cup and Nastia Liukin Cup from Indianapolis this weekend on NBC and NBCSN.

This year, the USA Gymnastics Winter Cup features an expanded field that will include both men’s and women’s junior and senior artistic gymnasts. Senior men will compete live tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN, while senior women compete this Saturday live at 12:30 p.m. ET on NBC.

The Nastia Liukin Cup, which airs tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN, is an annual event featuring 36 pre-elite and level 10 (the highest level of the USA Gymnastics developmental program) gymnasts who qualify through the Nastia Liukin Cup Series, which includes many of the country’s top invitational events held throughout January and February.

STAMFORD, Conn. – Nov. 5, 2020 – The FIG Friendship and Solidarity Competition will feature top gymnasts from the U.S., Japan, China and Russia on two mixed-gender teams — Team Friendship and Team Solidarity — in Tokyo, Japan. The competition will be held at Yoyogi National Stadium, which will host handball and badminton at next year’s Tokyo Olympics.

Based on the current apparatus World Cup standings, Carey has mathematically clinched an individual spot for next year’s Tokyo Olympics.

The U.S. women’s team finished the 2019 World Gymnastics Championships atop the medal table with eight medals. Considered by many as the greatest gymnast of all time, Biles brought her career total to 25 world medals (including 19 gold), which is the most in gymnastics history for a male or female. Biles also became the first gymnast since 1958 to earn five gold medals at a single world championships. In qualifying, Biles made history debuting two new skills for the first time on the international stage – a double-twisting double back dismount off balance beam and triple-twisting double back on floor exercise.

NBC Sports host and play-by-play announcer Terry Gannon will introduce coverage throughout this week’s gymnastics competitions. TONIGHT, MONDAY, MAY 25 – 2019 WORLD GYMNASTICS CHAMPIONSHIPS: WOMEN’S TEAM FINAL

During the women’s team final, the U.S. women won their fifth consecutive team title, which ties a record set by Romania. The USA amassed a total score of 172.330, with margin of victory of nearly six points ahead of Russia (166.529). Italy won the bronze medal (164.796) – its first world medal in the women’s team event since 1950.

The American women have also won every Olympic and world championship title since 2011. The 2019 U.S. women’s world team included Simone Biles, Jade Carey, Suni Lee, and members of the gold medal-winning team at the 2018 World Championships – Grace McCallum and Kara Eaker.

Rebounding from a disappointing seventh-place ranking in the qualification round, the U.S. men turned in a solid performance to finish fourth in the men’s team final (254.578). Russia earned its first world men’s gymnastics team title since the breakup of the Soviet Union with 261.726 points, nearly one point ahead of China (260.729), who won 11 of the last 14 world team titles. Japan rounded out the top three with 258.159.

Members of the 2019 U.S. men’s world team included Sam Mikulak, Yul Moldauer, 2019 U.S. vault champion Shane Wiskus, 2018 U.S. still rings champion Trevor Howard, and 2018 world team member Akash Modi.

With 58.999 points, Biles finished 2.1 points ahead of silver medalist Tang Xijing of China (56.899). Biles also had the highest score on three events (vault, balance beam, and floor exercise) with the third-best score on the uneven bars. Russia’s Angelina Melnikova was third at 56.399, while 2019 world team gold medalist Suni Lee finished eighth with 55.632.

Russia’s Nikita Nagornyy and Artur Dalaloyan went 1-2, respectively, at 88.772 and 87.165, while reigning Olympic silver medalist Oleg Vernyayev won Ukraine’s first world medal in the men’s all-around, taking bronze with 86.973.

Kicking off the first day of individual event finals, five-time world vault medalist Simone Biles and 2017 world vault silver medalist Jade Carey finished 1-2 in the women’s vault final. Great Britain’s Ellie Downie rounded out the top three. At this point, Biles’ 23rd world medal tied six-time Olympic gold medalist Vitaly Scherbo en route to breaking the all-time world gymnastics championships medal record. Meanwhile, Suni Lee claimed the bronze on the uneven bars. Belgium’s Nina Derwael successfully defended her 2018 world bars title, while Great Britain’s Becky Downie earned silver.

On the men’s side, Filipino Carlos Yulo and Turkey’s Ibrahim Colak each won their nation’s first world titles with golds on floor exercise and still rings, respectively. Reigning Olympic pommel horse champion Max Whitlock of Great Britain earned his third world pommel horse title.

Biles ended the 2019 World Championships with a career total of 25 world medals (19 gold), which is the most in gymnastics history for a male or female.

Adding to her team, all-around, and vault titles, Biles led the historic day with a pair of gold medals on balance beam and floor exercise. Following Biles in the balance beam final were China’s Liu Tingting and Li Shijia earning second and third, respectively, while American Kara Eaker just missed the podium with a fourth-place finish. In the floor exercise final, the U.S. women went 1-2 with Biles a full point ahead of teammate Suni Lee, who won silver. Russia’s Angelina Melnikova completed the medal podium with a bronze medal.

On the men’s side, Sam Mikulak took fifth on high bar with a routine that included the tricky Liukin release. STAMFORD, Conn. – April 24, 2020 – NBC Sports’ Olympic Games Week concludes this weekend, highlighted by nearly 30 years of U.S. women’s gymnastics and two Olympic Films. Coverage continues tonight at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN. Some of the most iconic gymnastics teams and athletes in history will be on display, including Kerri Strug and the U.S. ‘Magnificent Seven,’ Carly Patterson, Simone Biles, Nastia Liukin, Shawn Johnson, Gabby Douglas and more.

NBC Olympics primetime host Mike Tirico will introduce nightly coverage, which concludes this Sunday, April 26. Programming will also stream on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app. Coverage of Olympic Sports on NBC Sports Group platforms is a presentation of Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA.

In addition, 1996 ‘Magnificent Seven’ team member Shannon Miller, 2004 Olympic all-around gold medalist Patterson, and 2017 world all-around champion Morgan Hurd will provide commentary on Instagram Live.

Tonight, starting at 8 p.m. ET, Miller will add her insights on the historic U.S. victory in the 1996 women’s team final, followed by Patterson at 10 p.m. ET providing social commentary during the 2004 Athens all-around final. Then on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET, Hurd will commentate on the 2012 London women’s team final.

TONIGHT, FRIDAY, APRIL 24 – OLYMPIC CLASSICS: WOMEN’S GYMNASTICS

NBC Sports presents nearly 30 years of U.S. women’s gymnastics coverage beginning Friday on NBCSN with the ‘Magnificent Seven’ winning the first American team gold medal in Olympic history in 1996. An all-around triple-header features Patterson becoming the first American woman in 20 years to win the all-around in 2004, while Liukin and Johnson followed in 2008 as the first U.S. women to go 1-2 in the all-around at an Olympic Games.

ATLANTA 1996: WOMEN’S TEAM FINAL AT 8 P.M. ET

In front of the home crowd in Atlanta, the U.S. women’s gymnastics team, known as the ‘Magnificent Seven,’ won the United States’ first Olympic women’s gymnastics team gold medal. In one of the most iconic moments of the Atlanta Games, Strug landed an unforgettable vault on an injured ankle as the U.S. won a memorable gold medal.

ATHENS 2004: WOMEN’S ALL-AROUND FINAL AT 10 P.M. ET

Patterson earned gold in Athens to become the first U.S. woman to win the Olympic all-around title since Mary Lou Retton in 1984. Three-time world champion and 25-year-old Svetlana Khorkina of Russia won her first Olympic all-around medal (silver), becoming the oldest medalist in the women’s Olympic all-around since Vera Caslavska (26) in 1968.

BEIJING 2008: WOMEN’S ALL-AROUND FINAL AT MIDNIGHT ET

In Beijing, Liukin and teammate Johnson, who came in as the reigning world all-around champion, had a 1-2 finish, becoming the first U.S. women to claim the top two spots on the podium in the women’s Olympic all-around competition.

Liukin joined Retton (1984) and Patterson (2004) as the only U.S. women’s gymnasts to win an Olympic all-around title. Russian-born and Texas-raised, Liukin trained at the same gym as Patterson, and was coached by her father, Valeri, a four-time Olympic gymnastics medalist.

SEOUL 1988: WOMEN’S ALL-AROUND FINAL AT 11 P.M. PT/2 A.M. ET

In one of the closest women’s all-around finals in Olympic history, the late Yelena Shushunova of the Soviet Union scored a perfect 10 on her final vault to overtake Romanian rival, Daniela Silivas, and win the gold. Brandy Johnson was the highest finishing U.S. woman in the all-around in 10th place.

 

TOMORROW, SATURDAY, APRIL 25 – OLYMPIC CLASSICS: WOMEN’S GYMNASTICS

More historic U.S. gymnastics performances will be presented from the 2016, 2012, and 2004 Olympic Games. Highlighted events include the ‘Fierce Five’ team final in London, Biles and Aly Raisman finishing 1-2 in the Rio all-around, and the U.S. capturing a silver medal in the team final at the 2004 Games.

LONDON 2012: WOMEN’S TEAM FINAL AT 8 P.M. ET

At the 2012 London Olympics, the U.S. women’s gymnastics team, known as the ‘Fierce Five,’ won its first women’s gymnastics team title since the ‘Magnificent Seven’ at the 1996 Atlanta Games. Members of the U.S. women’s team in London included Douglas, who went on to win the all-around title in London, Raisman in her Olympic debut, 2011 world all-around champion Jordyn Wieber, vault specialist McKayla Maroney, and Kyla Ross, who would go on to become the first female gymnast to win Olympic, world and NCAA titles.

LONDON 2012: WOMEN’S ALL-AROUND FINAL AT 10 P.M. ET

Douglas earned all-around gold in London to become the fourth Olympic all-around champion in U.S. history, following Retton (1984), Patterson (2004) and Liukin (2008). Russia’s Viktoria Komova and Aliya Mustafina earned silver and bronze, respectively, while Raisman finished fourth on a tiebreaker.

RIO 2016: WOMEN’S ALL-AROUND FINAL AT 11:30 P.M. ET

In the Rio all-around final, the U.S. women had a 1-2 finish with Biles winning gold and Raisman earning silver.

This marked only the second time in history the U.S. claimed the top two spots on the podium in the women’s all-around competition, after Liukin and Johnson did so in 2008. Biles also gave the U.S. a fourth consecutive gold medal in the women’s all-around, following Patterson (2004), Liukin (2008) and Douglas (2012).

ATHENS 2004: WOMEN’S TEAM FINAL AT 10:30 P.M. PT/1:30 A.M. ET

Entering the competition as the reigning world champions, the U.S. team finished with a silver medal behind defending Olympic champion Romania. Members of the U.S. women’s team included Patterson, who went on to win the all-around title in Athens, and 2004 Olympic uneven bars bronze medalist Courtney Kupets.

The “fastest man in the world,” Bolt also helped Jamaica win the 4x100m relay, but that gold medal was rescinded nearly a decade later due to a doping case involving relay teammate Nesta Carter. Bolt would end his career with eight Olympic gold medals.

WOMEN’S SOCCER: USA VS. BRAZIL (FINAL) AT 11 P.M. ET

The U.S. women’s team won their second consecutive Olympic gold medal and third overall (1996, 2004, 2008) in a close final against Brazil. Neither team scored in the 90 minutes of regulation time and the Americans went ahead in extra time on a Lloyd goal, then held on to win the game.

BEIJING OLYMPIC STORIES AT 2:30 A.M. ET (ENCORE)

This half-hour special takes a look back at a few of the stories that emerged from the Beijing Olympics, starting with Natalie du Toit, a swimmer from South Africa who details her journey of how she got herself to the Olympic stage. The program also includes the story of Dara Torres, who won silver in the 50m free at age 41, 24 years after making her Olympic debut. In Beijing, she became the first American swimmer to compete in five Games.

TODAY, MONDAY, APRIL 13 – RETURN TO RIO: 2016 RIO GAMES – BEST OF TEAM USA, WOMEN’S GYMNASTICS AND WOMEN’S ROAD CYCLING

The opening night of Olympic Games Week begins at 7 p.m. ET and features three medal performances (two gold and one silver) from the U.S. women’s gymnastics team at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

BEST OF TEAM USA AT 7 P.M. ET

A two-hour program, Best of Team USA highlights some of the most memorable American moments and performances in Rio. At the Games, the U.S. topped the medal chart with 121 medals, including 46 gold. The U.S. also surpassed 1,000 all-time gold medals at the summer Olympics.

Three Americans topped the individual athlete medal standings: Michael Phelps (six medals, including five gold), Katie Ledecky (five medals, including four gold) and Simone Biles (five medals, including four gold). The program features more than 15 U.S. athletes including Phelps, Biles, Ledecky, Simone Manuel, Ryan Lochte, Aly Raisman and Christian Taylor.

 

WOMEN’S GYMNASTICS: TEAM FINAL AT 9 P.M. ET

In the Rio team final, the U.S. ‘Final Five,’ as they became known, captured gold in dominating fashion, defending their 2012 gold medal performance in London. Led by Biles and Raisman, Team USA topped the field with an eight-point margin of victory (184.897), followed by Russia with the silver medal (176.688) and China, which took bronze (176.003).

The gold-medal finish is also the seventh consecutive team medal for the U.S. women, making them the first to win back-to-back women’s team titles since Romania earned gold in 2004. Members of the U.S. women’s team included Biles, Raisman, 2012 Olympic all-around champion Gabby Douglas, Laurie Hernandez, and Madison Kocian, who has now won championships on every level (Olympic, World and NCAA).

 

WOMEN’S GYMNASTICS: INDIVIDUAL ALL-AROUND AT 11 P.M. ET

In the Rio all-around final, the U.S. women had a 1-2 finish with Biles winning gold and Raisman with silver. Seven-time Olympic medalist Aliya Mustafina of Russia earned the bronze.

This marked only the second time in history the U.S. claimed the top two spots on the podium in the women’s all-around competition, after NBC Sports analyst Nastia Liukin and her teammate Shawn Johnson did so in 2008. Biles also gave the U.S. a fourth consecutive gold medal in the women’s all-around, following Carly Patterson (2004), Liukin (2008) and Douglas (2012).

 

WOMEN’S ROAD CYCLING: ROAD RACE & TIME TRIAL AT 1 A.M. ET

Kristin Armstrong became the oldest female cyclist in history to win an Olympic medal when she won gold in the time trial event at the Rio Olympic Games, one day before her 43rd birthday. Armstrong is the only female U.S. athlete to win the same event (time trial) in three consecutive summer Olympic Games.

Led by first-time Olympian Mara Abbott, the U.S. women’s road cycling team placed three athletes in the top 12. Abbott’s fourth-place finish was the best result for an American woman since Connie Carpenter and Rebecca Twigg finished 1-2 at the 1984 Los Angeles Games. Abbott’s teammates Megan Guarnier and Evelyn Stevens finished 11th and 12th, respectively.

All Olympic Sports Coverage Televised and Streamed Across NBC Sports Platforms is Presented by Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA

STAMFORD, Conn. – October 7, 2019 – Reigning Olympic gymnastics all-around champion Simone Biles blazes her path towards becoming the most-dominant gymnast in the history of the sport this week, as she headlines NBC Sports’ coverage of the World Gymnastics Championships in Stuttgart, Germany.

In the opening weekend of qualifying, Biles had the highest all-around score (59.432 points) and led the U.S. women’s gymnastics team to the top spot in qualification. Biles is already the first woman to win four world-all around titles and aims for an unprecedented fifth world all-around title this week. At 22 years old, Biles has 20 world medals, just three behind the record held by Belarusian Vitaly Scherbo. She will compete in four of the next six days.

The American men are expected to be led by two-time Olympian and six-time U.S. all-around champion Sam Mikulak and 2017 world bronze medalist Yul Moldauer. Mikulak – who won his first individual world medal by finishing third on high bar at the 2018 World Championships – and the U.S. men’s team have earned a team quota spot for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics by finishing seventh in qualifications. Moldauer was the top U.S. qualifier in the all-around, while Mikulak qualified second on high bar.

CHICAGO MARATHON

LIVE TV COVERAGE BEGINS SUNDAY, OCTOBER 13 AT 8 A.M. ET ON OLYMPIC CHANNEL: HOME OF TEAM USA

The 2019 Chicago Marathon will feature a showdown between the last two men’s champions: 2016 Rio Olympic marathon bronze medalist Galen Rupp, who won Chicago in 2017, and four-time Olympic gold medalist Mo Farah, who won Chicago last year. On the women’s side, Jordan Hasay is expected to lead the Americans. Hasay finished third in all three professional marathons she has raced: Chicago 2017, and Boston in 2017 and 2019.

Live coverage begins on Sunday, October 13 at 8 a.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA and NBC Sports Gold. In addition, NBCSN presents coverage on Sunday beginning at 11 a.m. ET.
