St. Louis got game-tying goals from Robert Bortuzzo and Vladimir Tarasenko in the first period, following Bruins tallies by Charlie Coyle and Joakim Nordstrom. Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington made 21 saves in the overtime win.

HOCKEY-THEMED EPISODES HIGHLIGHT THIS WEEK’S PODCASTS ACROSS NBC SPORTS

May 30, 2019 By admin

Kendall Coyne Schofield, Hilary Knight and Lee Stecklein of Team USA Hockey and NHL CMO Heidi Browning Join New On Her Turf Podcast

NBC Sports NHL Analysts Eddie Olczyk and Pierre McGuire Featured on New Podcast Episodes During Stanley Cup Final

Chris Simms Unbuttoned Features Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen

STAMFORD, Conn. – May 30, 2019 – NBC Sports celebrates the 2019 Stanley Cup Final with new hockey-themed episodes of several podcasts featuring special guests and athletes. Coverage of Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final from Enterprise Center in St. Louis begins Saturday, June 1 at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

In this week’s On Her Turf podcast, Team USA hockey sensations Kendall Coyne Schofield, Hilary Knight and Lee Stecklein join Kathryn Tappen to discuss the powerhouse women of hockey, and the NHL’s Chief Marketing Officer Heidi Browning joins to discuss the excitement of this year’s playoffs and how fans are embracing the action and their teams. In addition, U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member and NHL on NBC analyst Eddie Olczyk and Emmy Award-winning ‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst Pierre McGuire join new episodes of NBC Sports’ podcasts to discuss the 2019 Stanley Cup Final.

PODCAST HIGHLIGHTS FROM ON HER TURF:

Coyne Schofield on support from NHL players: “I think what’s so fun about playing with them or against them is their respect for us as hockey players. They don’t care that I have a ponytail. They don’t care that I’m six or seven inches shorter. They’re there to play the game just as I am, and for people to see that validates what we do every day because they don’t care what our gender is. They don’t care what league we play in. They respect us for our talent and I think that’s what’s so fun about being around them and having their support.”

Knight on women’s hockey: “It’s taken off recently. It’s one of the fastest growing sports right now and we couldn’t be in women’s hockey at a better time.”

Browning: “Hockey is the sport where you play for the name on the front of your sweater and not the name on the back.”

PODCAST HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MICHAEL HOLLEY PODCAST:

McGuire on the excellence of Boston sports: “I think there’s a level of excellence that gets set. Whether it was the Celtics that did or the Red Sox that did or the Bruins did or the Patriots… somebody set a bar and then the other owners realized in order to maintain market credibility you’ve got to get to the same bar that that team set.”

McGuire: “Somebody, Don Sweeney and his scouting staff, had a vision – we need to have mobility in the back end to compete in this NHL that doesn’t have a red line and the Bruins are as good or better than anybody in the league when it comes to mobility in the back end. So that’s where I see one of the separation points from those older Bruins teams that competed for the Cup.”

PODCAST HIGHLIGHTS FROM BLACKHAWKS TALK:

Olczyk: “That’s hockey right now in the National Hockey League. It’s tough to score, but when you can get that second and third wave becoming a threat, you give yourself a hell of a chance to win each and every night.”

In addition, new episodes of several podcasts feature a range of guests including Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen, Chicago White Sox pitchers Carlos Rodon and Lucas Giolito, and more.
