“CHICAGO STATE WOMEN’S TENNIS: THE PERFECT SEASON” (Sunday, February 5 at 10:30 PM): Long before the historic run of two women named Venus and Serena, there was the unsung story of the 1991 women’s tennis team at Chicago State University. Seven student-athletes, who beat the odds, also beat each of their opponents to clinch a stunning 20-0 undefeated season. Twenty-five years later, the team and their head coach reunited at CSU to celebrate that season of greatness.
“SHAWN HARRINGTON” (Sunday, February 12 at 10:30 PM): As a teenager, Shawn Harrington was among the top Chicago H.S. basketball stars featured in the internationally-acclaimed 1994 documentary, “Hoop Dreams.” As an example of life coming full circle, Harrington was hired as Marshall High School’s boys basketball coach in 2007, but then tragedy sadly struck in 2014. He was shot & paralyzed in the neighborhood of Humboldt Park while driving his daughter to school. Although Harrington is confined to a wheelchair, he continues to live life to the fullest. This update of his story includes recent developments of the court case involving his shooting.
“TORRI STUCKEY” (Sunday, February 19 at 10:30 PM): Stuckey is a renowned athlete-turned-author & motivational speaker who is helping to bring Chicago communities together through the mutual sharing of life experiences. Born in Robbins, Stuckey is a former Northwestern football captain and a standout at Eisenhower High School. He was first profiled by CSN in 2015 for the work his work of improving social and education habits of students, and in this update, Stuckey will discuss the February release of his new book “His Dough, Her Cookie: The Black Woman’s Guide to Love and Marriage in the Age of Independence.”
“SPENCER ALLEN” (Sunday, February 26 at 10:30 PM): The head coach of Northwestern baseball made history in June 2015 when he was hired by the esteemed university, becoming the first black coach in the history of the Big Ten Conference. In Allen’s previous job as a coaching assistant at the University of Illinois, the baseball program won 50 games and captured its first NCAA Regional in school history.

ESPN’s crowning game of the annual SEC/Big 12 Challenge presented by Sonic on Saturday, Jan. 28 – No. 2 Kansas’ 79-73 defeat of No. 4 Kentucky – earned a 2.0 overnight rating, up 11% over last year’s overtime contest (1.8).
After an absence of 18 years, International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) drag racing action will return to ESPN’s networks in 2017.
ESPN today announced that two-time World Series Champion David Ross is joining the company as a Major League Baseball analyst. In this multi-year deal, the Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox Champion catcher will provide analysis for a variety of ESPN platforms, including its MLB studio coverage, SportsCenter and for select games.
ESPN’s commentator team includes Hall of Famers, Super Bowl winners, veteran hosts and insiders and accomplished journalists, many of whom have ties to the Super Bowl teams or the host city.
ESPN College GameDay Covered by State Farm returns to Gainesville, Fla., on Saturday, Feb. 4, from the site of the Saturday Primetime presented by AT&T matchup – showcasing No. 4 Kentucky at No. 25 Florida (ESPN, 8:15 p.m.).
The world’s premier action sports competition debuts July 13-16 for its first year at the new U.S. Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis. The event will feature an all-encompassing youth culture experience, including more than 200 of the world’s best action sports athletes competing for medals and prize money in BMX, Skateboard and Moto X disciplines.
