NASCAR ON FOX ROLLS INTO RICHMOND FOR PRIMETIME – On Saturday, May 2 (7:00 PM ET), FOX Sports presents NASCAR Sprint Cup Racing from Richmond. With the spectacle of last week’s conclusion behind him, Carl Edwards looks to finish this week’s race strong and continue his climb up the Sprint Cup standings. Edwards and the rest of the field chase points-leader Kurt Busch, who took over 1st place with his top-10 finish at Talladega. This is the first time that Kurt Busch has led in points since March of 2005. Prerace host Chris Myers along with analysts Jeff Hammond and Darrell Waltrip bring fans all the news and features from the Hollywood Hotel, FOX Sports’ traveling prerace set. Once the green flag drops, race announcer Mike Joy will be alongside Waltrip and Larry McReynolds to call all the twists and turns on the track while Dick Berggren, Steve Byrnes, Krista Voda and Matt Yocum patrol the pits for up-to-the-second reports on teams and pit stops. ROSENTHAL: DON’T EXPECT JOBA TO BAIL OUT YANKS ‘PEN YET – MLB on FOX’s Ken Rosenthal believes the Yankees have little choice but to stay the course when it comes to Joba Chamberlain and their bullpen. “The Yankees aren’t panicking just yet, not even after their weekend debacle in Boston. [GM Brian] Cashman is always looking to upgrade, but says that he is not being ‘uber-aggressive’ about looking for relief help, and that none of the available relievers interest him. The calls for Chamberlain to return to his original role only will grow louder if the team’s relievers continue to struggle. One way or another, something must give.”
HAMMOND: LOTS OF OLD SCORES SETTLED IN RICHMOND – NASCAR on FOX prerace analyst Jeff Hammond likens Richmond International Speedway to one of the most exciting places to race for both fans & drivers. “If you ask any driver out there, it’s one of their most favorite tracks. The bank isn’t too high and it has several grooves. You can run on the top, you can run on the bottom and through the middle if you want to.” Richmond is also a place where some drivers decide it’s time to settle a feud; for example, when Kyle Busch turned around Dale Earnhardt Jr. one year ago in Richmond. “It’s one of those places where you can settle a lot of old scores. There’s going to be hot tempers and hot brakes! Watch out for guys like Tony Stewart & Kevin Harvick this weekend.”
