STAMFORD, Conn. – May 15, 2019 – Olympic swimming gold medalists Katie Ledecky, Simone Manuel, and Nathan Adrian, U.S. track & field champion Noah Lyles, and Olympian Christian Coleman highlight extensive Olympic sports programming this week across NBC Sports platforms. All Olympic sports coverage televised and streamed across NBC Sports platforms is presented by Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA.
Beginning on Friday, May 17, at 6 p.m. ET and continuing Saturday, May 18, at 6 p.m. ET, Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA presents live coverage of the TYR Pro Swim Series in Bloomington, Indiana, for the series’ fourth of five stops. The event features big names in U.S. swimming, led by Ledecky, Manuel, Adrian, Allison Schmitt, and Lilly King, who have 13 Olympic gold medals among them. Ledecky notched three wins at the Richmond stop in April, bringing her TYR Pro Swim Series wins to 53, an all-time series record. NBCSN presents additional TV coverage on Friday night at 1 a.m. ET and Saturday night at 1 a.m. ET.
The event in Bloomington will mark Adrian’s first competition since his testicular cancer diagnosis, which he announced in January. Adrian, a three-time Olympian and eight-time Olympic medalist (five gold), underwent two surgeries following the diagnosis. The 30-year-old says he is focused on making his fourth Olympic team in 2020.
Jason Knapp will call the action alongside three-time Olympic gold medalist and U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame member Rowdy Gaines.
The IAAF Diamond League season continues this weekend live across NBC Sports with a stop in Shanghai, China, beginning Saturday, May 18, at 7 a.m. ET on NBC Sports Gold’s “Track & Field Pass” and Sunday, May 19, at 8 p.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA.

The Diamond League consists of 12 track & field meets leading up to two finals (14 meets total), with 32 event disciplines evenly distributed among the meets. Athletes compete for points via their placements throughout the season, with the top points earners qualifying for the final meets. The United States is expected to be led by two defending Diamond League champions – Noah Lyles (200m) and 2016 Olympian Christian Coleman (100m). Both are expected to compete in the 100m race in Shanghai.

BADMINTON SUDIRMAN CUP – NANNING, CHINA

The Sudirman Cup, badminton’s world mixed team championships, begins this weekend. Nations compete in five disciplines – men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and mixed doubles – in a traditional tournament format (group play followed by bracket elimination). Since the inaugural Sudirman Cup in 1989, only Indonesia, South Korea, and China have won the title. The U.S. will be led by four members from the 2016 Olympic badminton team.

SPORT CLIMBING WORLD CUP – MUNICH, GERMANY
OLYMPIC CHANNEL: HOME OF TEAM USA PRESENTS TV COVERAGE ON SUNDAY, MAY 19, AT 10 P.M. ET
The 2019 Sport Climbing World Cup continues with a bouldering competition in Munich, Germany. Sport climbing will make its Olympic debut next summer in Tokyo, where the competition will feature a combination of all three disciplines: bouldering, speed and lead. Kyra Condie, the top-ranked American in the women’s bouldering world rankings, and Ashima Shiraishi, last year’s top-ranked U.S. lead climber, are both expected to compete.

FENCING GRAND PRIX – CALI, COLOMBIA

The 2019 Fencing Grand Prix spans nine cities, with each discipline being held in three different locations. The circuit continued in early May with an epee tournament in Cali, Colombia. The top U.S. finishers were 2012 Olympic team bronze medalist sisters Kelley and Courtney Hurley, who are the top American women in the current world epee rankings.
