TBS to Televise Coverage of Special Pregame Ceremony Honoring Yankees Captain Derek Jeter
Sunday MLB on TBS will continue September 7 with a matchup between the New York Yankees and Derek Jeter hosting the Kansas City Royals and Alex Gordon at 1:30 p.m. ET. Prior to the game at 1 p.m., TBS will present coverage of the Yankees’ special ceremony to honor the historic career of Jeter, the 14-time All-Star, five-time World Series Champion and long-time team captain. Shane Green (4-1) is scheduled to take the mound for New York against Kansas City probable starter Yordano Ventura (11-9). Ernie Johnson will be in the TBS broadcast booth providing play-by-play alongside analyst Ron Darling.
The upcoming Sunday MLB on TBS schedule will include the Detroit Tigers visiting the Cleveland Indians on September 14 at 1 p.m. The telecast will be seen locally throughout the Indians’ broadcast territory.
This season marks the first of Turner Sports’ new eight-year multimedia rights agreement with Major League Baseball that will extend the partnership to more than 40 years. As part of the new agreement, TBS has enhanced rights for its Sunday MLB on TBS game of the week with increased co-exist rights in the local markets. The network will also exclusively televise one Wild Card Game presented by Budweiser, two of the four Division Series with the MLB Division Series coverage on TBS presented by T-Mobile and one League Championship Series during the 2014 MLB Postseason.
