If there’s college football in the air, then it’s time for another round of “SportsCenter on the Road” visits across the nation.
Between August 10-14, SportsCenter segments will originate from nine schools in five days with Rece Davis, Joey Galloway and Danny Kanell traveling to nine of the top 15 teams (USA Today Coaches Poll pre-season rankings).

Notes: Jeannine Edwards will contribute at Ohio State, Notre Dame; set only, no bus, in Los Angeles
“As a seasoned veteran of the CFB Bus Tour, I can’t wait to show Joey Galloway the ropes — even though he played 17 years in the NFL, he’s still a rookie and will be buying our dinners and sleeping in the top bunk until he makes it through a week on the bus,” Kanell said. “Last year’s CFB Bus Tour was one of my favorite weeks of the year, by far — it was crazy and lacked much sleep, but we got to see all three Ohio State QBs before anyone knew two of their names, talked to the eventual No. 1 pick in the NFL draft, and took a dip in the infamous waterfall hot tub at the University of Alabama. This year’s schedule is even more ambitious and with the addition of Joey we’ll have a new voice, plus a rookie to carry our bags. Should be a fun week!”
Highlights are scheduled to include interviews with each team’s head coach, and:
- Practice field demonstration with former WR Galloway and Ohio State WR Braxton Miller
- Quarterback chat between former signal caller Kanell and Notre Dame QB Malik Zaire
- breakfast with the UCLA Bruins
- Walk ‘n’ talk around campus with Kanell and USC quarterback Cody Kessler
- Galloway and Kanell taking the practice field with Baylor TEs and WRs
- Kanell and Galloway hitting the film room with TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin
- “Dinner with Les” at LSU
- Kanell and Galloway joining Alabama linebacker Reggie Ragland and defensive tackle A’Shaun Robinson in the weight room by Davis,
- Kanell and Galloway meeting quarterback Jeremy Johnson and offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee in the Auburn film room
“Our analysts say they get a lot more out of this than they do from their regular-season visits – they get to see practices and the coaches are more relaxed,” said news producer Jonathan Whyley, who’ll be riding shotgun on the bus next week. “This is our fourth summer doing this – everyone from Herbstreit and Fowler and Tessitore to Pollack and Greise have had their stints on the tour – and it’s a lot of fun.”
