Award-Winning Sportscaster to Make MLB Network Debut on Tuesday, September 6
Secaucus, N.J., September 1, 2011 – MLB Network today announced that Sam Ryan has joined its roster of on-air talent as a studio host and reporter, appearing across MLB Network’s studio programming. Ryan, a widely respected broadcaster nationally and in New York, will make her MLB Network debut on Tuesday, September 6, reporting live during MLB Tonight from Nationals Park as right-hander Stephen Strasburg prepares to make his scheduled Major League return for the Washington Nationals against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
“I’m thrilled to join MLB Network’s on-air talent lineup and I’m excited about the opportunities in covering the most important stories in Major League Baseball,” said Ryan.
Ryan most recently served as sports anchor and reporter for WCBS-TV in New York, NY and as a contributor to CBS Sports’ coverage of The NFL on CBS and the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship. Ryan previously reported from the sideline for ABC and ESPN on Sunday Night Baseball telecasts, Little League World Series, NHL playoffs and Stanley Cup Finals, college football telecasts and the 2005 Monday Night Football season. Before joining ESPN and ABC Sports, Ryan worked as a sports anchor and reporter for WABC-TV in New York, NY, WFAN-AM radio in New York, and other regional TV news outlets. Ryan won a New York Emmy Award in 1999 for “Outstanding Series Feature,” as well as a local Associated Press Award in 2000 and a New York State Broadcasters Association Award in 2007.
