FOX Sports Daybreak
Former NFL All-Pro and four-time Super Bowl champion, Bill Romanowski tells FOX Sports Daybreak’s Andy Furman and Artrell Hawkins the substance Ray Lewis was accused of taking, is harmless:
Furman: “So we can ask you if you’ve ever used deer spray?”
Romanowski: “Guys, I’m giving it to my daughter! It’s the biggest bunch of bull crap I’ve ever heard in my life! This whole thing…is such hog wash, I can’t even tell you. I know about this stuff; I live, eat, breathe nutrition; supplements – all day long, every day. I have my own company…In drug testing, there’s a list. For me, that list was the bible. When I played, I knew that list inside and out. And what will happen is a guy will get popped, and he was taking the real thing. So he goes to the NFL, they go through this whole little trial thing and he says, ‘I wasn’t taking such and such; I was taking deer antler. Look at the properties. Look at the breakdown of it.’ And they look at it and they’ll say, ‘Well, that’s not on the list. Okay, we’ll let you off this time but we better put it on the list.’ That’s how it works. And there are a number of things that are on that list – you could give to your baby and it’s not going to affect them.”

The NFL’s all-time leading Rusher and three-time Super Bowl champion Emmitt Smith spoke to Furman and Hawkins about one former teammate who, he believes, deserves to be in the Hall of Fame:
Hawkins: “Make a case for Larry Allen; he’s up for the Hall of Fame. And you’re in the Hall of Fame, Mike Irving’s in the Hall of Fame, Troy Aikman – none of the linemen.”
Emmitt Smith: “When you hear other players on former teams, and other teams, say that a couple defensive linemen and defensive ends caught the “Allen Flu” the week we played the Cowboys. That means, I’m not getting in front of Larry Allen this week. I’m going to sit out this week. And that has happened on some teams. So that says a lot about the player they were about to go up against. You’re talking about a guy that was over 300 and something pounds, that can run like a deer…The guy can run. Not to mention, he bench pressed over 600 pounds. And he’s about as gentle as gentle can come – in person. But on that football field, he is a terror.”

Jay Mohr Sports
Houston Texans Pro Bowl Defensive End JJ Watt stopped by Jay Mohr Sports, and discussed NFL players throughout his history who have changed their position. Watt said he came into the league with that exact same mindset:
Mohr: “When they start calling you JJ Swatt, you’ve got to start thinking to yourself, ‘Hey, wait a minute, I’m changing the position a little bit.”
Watt: “I appreciate that. It’s kind of what I’m trying to do. As a 3-4 defensive end, when I came into the league, they told me that the perception of the 3-4 D-End is that they eat up blockers and they don’t really make plays on their own. And so I said, ‘Why not? Why can’t I be a play maker? Why can’t I do these things?’ So, I kind of set out on a goal to change the position. And so I’m glad people are kind of seeing that, and I’m glad people see me as a playmaker in this position.”

FOX Sports Primetime featuring Pat O’Brien with Steve Hartman
San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York joined Fox Sports Primetime featuring Pat O’Brien with Steve Hartman, and talked about how Jim Harbaugh got up the guts to make the Quarterback switch to Colin Kaepernick midseason:
Hartman: “What was your reaction when Coach Harbaugh decided to make that Quarterback change permanent?”
York: “It’s just one of those things where it’s an unconventional decision. A lot of coaches are afraid to do something that gives them, potentially, a better chance to win but might fail and look like they made the wrong choice – that’s not who Jim is. He’s not the most conventional coach…I give him a lot of credit for having the guts to make that call when I don’t know that there are many other coaches in the league that would have done it.”

Petros & Money
NFL Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott joined Petros & Money’s Petros Papadakis and Matt “Money” Smith, and talked about his San Francisco 49ers, the job that Jim Harbaugh has done with the team, and if the 49ers have a shot at winning the Super Bowl:
Papadakis: “Being a hard-nosed football guy yourself, and not a perimeter dude, how gratifying is it to see the 9ers back in the Super Bowl, but back in the Super Bowl with this brand of football?”
Lott: “Harbaugh’s brought an incredible brand of football – of discipline – an incredible brand of football of guys going out and playing tough, not beating themselves. And all of a sudden you realize that here, in the last two years…the best football that I’ve seen in a long, long time. And so now, playing in the Super Bowl…I really think they have an excellent shot at winning this game. It’s going to come down to them playing their brand of football; they have to do it one more game. If they can do it one more game, they’ve got a shot at going – at least in mind – starting a little dynasty because of the youth of this team.”

FOX Sports Tonight
At Media Day this week, San Francisco 49ers Wide Receiver Randy Moss wasn’t bashful when asked about his place in football history, declaring himself the greatest receiver to play the game. Another great Wide Receiver and former Denver Bronco Rod Smith joined Fox Sports Tonight’s Rob Dibble and Amy Van Dyken, and shared his thoughts on the comment:
Van Dyken: “If Randy Moss is not the best, who is the best Wide Receiver in NFL history?”
Smith: “I can say this, because I really do like Randy Moss…when you look at overall stats and everything, honestly, Jerry Rice owns that category…He gave guys like myself, you know, that hope and that dream in the business and showed us what to do. It was a craft to him, he wasn’t just out there playing football; he made that position…You just look at the numbers and what he put up. Honestly it’s kind of unfair that he was that much better than everybody at that position. But, you know, guys like Moss and guys like T.O., man, they came up and they did some big things; they were definitely more feared, but I’m telling you right now – Jerry Rice is the best receiver to ever put on cleats.”

J.T. “The Brick:
Baltimore Ravens Linebacker Ray Lewis was the story of Super Bowl Media Day after a Sports Illustrated report came out linking Lewis to a banned substance – deer antler spray. Former Ravens Running Back Jamal Lewis joined J.T. “The Brick,” and made it a point to defend the credibility of his ex-teammate:
Lewis: “Well I’ll tell you this – it’ll play out in New Orleans, and you know Ray is a hard worker. He’s the type of guy that, when he’s playing, he doesn’t take anything. He works hard and takes care of his body. He’s a great athlete and a great person, and I just don’t understand why they would even bring this out because it’s just a bunch of baloney, if you ask me.”
