NHL Network U.S. will take to the airwaves early for tonight’s match-up between the Penguins and New York Islanders in order to broadcast a special pre-game ceremony planned to commemorate the final regular-season game played at Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh.
Mellon Arena, often nicknamed the ‘Igloo’, will host its 1,667th regular season game tonight. The Penguins will have over 50 alumni players, coaches and management in the building for this special ceremony. The ceremony, scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., will be followed by the puck drop at 7:30 p.m. ET — both the ceremony and game will be broadcast in HD.
