NL East Rivals Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets Match Up On
Thursday Night Baseball During MLB Network’s Game Schedule for May 26-31
Games Include Memorial Day Doubleheader, Three Matchups with the Surging Los Angeles Dodgers and
the St. Louis Cardinals at Chicago Cubs in an NL Central Showdown on MLB Matinee
Secaucus, N.J., May 24, 2010 – The NL East first-place Philadelphia Phillies visit their division rival New York Mets on Thursday Night Baseball on May 27 at 7:00 p.m. ET, part of MLB Network’s live game schedule for May 26-31. After the Mets captured the 2006 NL East division title, the Phillies have won three straight NL East titles with the Mets finishing in 2nd place both in 2007 and 2008. MLB Network’s Bob Costas and Jim Kaat, a former Philadelphia Phillies pitcher, will call the game live from Citi Field, where the Mets won their interleague series against the New York Yankees this past weekend.
MLB Network will feature three editions of MLB Matinee during the week, starting with the Detroit Tigers against the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday, May 26 at 3:30 p.m. ET. The Chicago Cubs host the Los Angeles Dodgers, who have won 12 of their last 14 games, on Thursday, May 27 at 2:00 p.m. ET, and on Friday, May 28 at 2:00 p.m. ET the NL Central first-place St. Louis Cardinals travel to Wrigley Field to take on the Chicago Cubs for the latest matchup in one of the longest-running rivalries in sports. Saturday Night Baseball on May 29 features an NL West matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers and 2009 NL Wild Card Colorado Rockies on May 29 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
The May game schedule ends on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31 with an NL West holiday doubleheader featuring the Colorado Rockies against the San Francisco Giants at 4:00 p.m. ET and the Arizona Diamondbacks at Los Angeles Dodgers, who are 15-8 at home this season, at 9:00 p.m. ET.
MLB Tonight, MLB Network’s Emmy Award-winning signature nightly studio show, will air live at 5:30 p.m. ET on May 24 and 25 as well as after the Tigers at Mariners matchup on May 26, Thursday Night Baseball on May 27 and the Cardinals at Cubs game on May 28.
Game telecasts other than Thursday Night Baseball will be carriage of local telecasts, including local announcers, and games will be blacked out in each team’s home television territory. Viewers in areas subject to blackouts will be provided with an alternate game telecast or other programming.
