ORLANDO, Fla. (Oct. 20, 2015) – The field is set for the 2015 World Long Drive Championship round of 16, which will play out tonight, live and in primetime at 9 p.m. ET on Golf Channel. The eight competitors that advance will compete under the lights Wednesday night at 9 p.m. ET, battling for a $250,000 purse with a $150,000 first-place prize and the coveted World Long Drive Championship belt.
The PGA TOUR’s 2015-16 season continues this week with the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas, Nev. Rickie Fowler, along with Emiliano Grillo, winner at last week’s Frys.com Open, headline a field that includes Steven Bowditch, Keegan Bradley and Erik Compton. Fowler is making his first appearance at this event since 2010. The LPGA moves to Taiwan this week for the Fubon LPGA Taiwan Championship, the halfway point of its Asian swing, with 14 of the top-20 players in the Rolex Rankings scheduled to compete. The European Tour heads to Hong Kong for the UBS Hong Kong Open, a tri-sanctioned event between the European Tour, Asian Tour and the Hong Kong Golf Association.

Format: Golf Channel will showcase back-to-back nights of primetime coverage of the 2015 World Long Drive Championship, featuring the round of 16 being narrowed down to eight competitors (Tuesday, Oct. 20), and the remaining eight dueling for the first place prize of $150,000 and $250,000 purse (Wednesday, Oct. 21). New to 2015, competitors will have 2 minutes, 45 seconds to hit their drives in each round, and the player who is trailing in the match will have an opportunity to hit one final ball past their opponent’s to try and advance to the next round in the bracket.
