A Look at the Matchup: Adrien “The Problem” Broner vs. “Showtime” Shawn Porter

STAMFORD, Conn. – June 15, 2015 – In five days, on Saturday, June 20 at 8:30 p.m. ET, PBC on NBC returns to primetime at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev., featuring a highly anticipated showdown between former titleholders Adrien “The Problem” Broner (30-1, 22 KOs) and “Showtime” Shawn Porter (25-1-1, 16 KOs).
Coverage begins with the undefeated Errol Spence Jr. (16-0, 13 KOs) vs. hard-hitting veteran Roberto “La Amenaza” Garcia (37-3, 23 KOs) in a welterweight bout. Blow-by-blow announcer Marv Albert, and analysts “Sugar” Ray Leonard and B.J. Flores call the action. Al Michaels hosts, current middleweight titleholder Daniel Jacobs serves as a corner analyst in his primetime PBC on NBC debut, and Kenny Rice reports from ring-side. After the NBC show, live boxing continues on NBCSN at 11 p.m. ET.
A LOOK AT THE MATCHUP
One of boxing’s biggest stars, Adrien Broner (Cincinnati, Ohio) enters the fight coming off a victory against John Molina Jr. in the primetime debut of PBC on NBC on March 7. The 25-year old has earned titles at 130, 135 and 147 pounds, and looks to add another win to his resume against fellow Ohio-native Shawn Porter.
The 27-year-old Porter is eager to keep his momentum going after scoring a fifth-round knockout over Erick Bone on March 13. The Akron-native dominated Devon Alexander in December 2013 to win the welterweight title, going on to overpower former two-division titleholder Paulie Malignaggi with a fourth round stoppage in April 2014.
