GRAMMY-WINNING MULTIPLATINUM ARTIST ZAC BROWN TO NARRATE “ON A MISSION: ATLANTA RISING” PROFILE OF ARTHUR BLANK THIS SAT., SEPT. 2 AT 2 PM ET ON NBC

August 29, 2017 By admin

Brown Makes TV Voiceover Debut in One-Hour Documentary on His Friend, Atlanta Falcons & Atlanta United FC Owner Arthur Blank

STAMFORD, Conn. – August 29, 2017 – GRAMMY-winning multiplatinum artist Zac Brown of Zac Brown Band, will make his television voiceover debut as the narrator of “On a Mission: Atlanta Rising,” a profile of Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United FC owner Arthur Blank, this Saturday, Sept. 2 at 2 p.m. ET on NBC.

The one-hour “On a Mission: Atlanta Rising” profile will examine Blank’s personal and professional life from his childhood through February’s dramatic Super Bowl defeat and beyond.

“It was such an honor when I was asked to be a part of this project,” said Brown, a Georgia native who became friendly with Blank through mutual philanthropic efforts in Atlanta. “Arthur is a great man doing so many great things. He has a huge heart and strives to help communities and people grow to reach their full potential.”

Blank is a supporter of Brown’s Camp Southern Ground, which serves children ages 7-17, from all socioeconomic backgrounds, races and religions, with programs that will challenge, educate, and inspire. He introduced the band at a December benefit for the camp.

In the documentary, Blank discusses dealing with his father’s death when Arthur was 15, and the growing pains he experienced as the co-founder of The Home Depot. Over the course of the show, he also talks about his tenure as an NFL owner (since 2002), including his evolving relationship with former Falcons QB Michael Vick, and the team’s run to and defeat in Super Bowl LI last February. In addition, Blank discusses his newest sports franchise – the first-year Atlanta United FC, which has broken every attendance and season-ticket record for an MLS expansion team and currently leads the league in average attendance. The show will also offer an inside look at the construction of the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium and how it coupled with Blank’s philanthropic efforts are helping to reshape downtown Atlanta.

In addition to Blank, “On a Mission: Atlanta Rising” features interviews with:

  • Angela Blank (wife)
  • Georgia Governor Nathan Deal
  • Falcons General Manager Thomas Dimitroff
  • Falcons RB Devonta Freeman
  • NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell
  • Sports Illustrated Writer Peter King
  • Home Depot Co-Founder Bernie Marcus
  • New England Patriots Owner Robert Kraft
  • Falcons President and CEO Rich McKay
  • Falcons Head Coach Dan Quinn
  • Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed
  • Falcons QB Matt Ryan
  • Former Falcons QB Michael Vick
  • Former Falcons WR Roddy White

About Zac Brown Band

Three-time GRAMMY Award-winning multi-platinum artists Zac Brown Band are currently on their 40+ date ‘WELCOME HOME’ North American tour to support their new album ‘WELCOME HOME,’ the band’s fourth consecutive No. 1 Country album and fifth consecutive top ten on the Billboard 200.

Produced by GRAMMY Award-winning producer Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell) and In The Arena Productions, and recorded at Southern Ground Nashville Studio, Rolling Stone called the album “southern storytelling, rootsy instrumentation and the sonic swell of eight bandmates who, once again, are firing on the same cylinder.”

Billboard calls Zac Brown Band “one of the biggest success stories in country music over the past decade,” following three platinum-selling albums (‘Uncaged,’ ‘You Get What You Give,’ and ‘JEKYLL + HYDE’), the 5x platinum ‘The Foundation,’ their 2013 project ‘The Grohl Sessions Vol. 1,’ and selling over 25 million singles and eight million albums. To date, the band has achieved 15 #1 radio singles, and are the second act to top both the country and active rock formats. 2016’s “BLACK OUT THE SUN” tour also made history, breaking attendance records at Boston’s Fenway Park and Camden’s BB&T Pavilion. Other recent milestones include a performance at the Super Bowl LI pregame festivities, Live Nation’s Twitter Concert Series first live stream, and an exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

Zac Brown Band is managed by ROAR, a Beverly Hills-based artist and brand management company. The band is also represented by CAA, public relations firm Shore Fire Media and digital marketing agency Total Assault. Additional information can be found at http://www.zacbrownband.com/.

The 96 players will be divided into six groups of 16 competitors, with a points system determining the top five (30 total) in each of the six groups to advance to the Round of 32. The final two slots will be given to two of the six competitors having finished sixth in their respective group through two 3-for-1 playoffs. The Round of 32 will utilize a double-elimination match play format to narrow down to the Round of 16. Beginning with the Round of 16, the remainder of the competition will be contested through a single-elimination bracket, narrowing to the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals to ultimately determine a winner.

The Women’s Division also will employ a points system for a field of 21 competitors that will narrow to eight advancing to the quarterfinals. A single-elimination match play format then will be used for the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals. A Masters Division (age 45+) also will be contested, made up of a field of 32 competitors using the same format and payout structure as the Women’s Division.

Preliminary rounds will give competitors an opportunity to hit eight drives within a 3-minute time limit during each set. Once the field narrows to the television portion of the competition (Round of 16 – Open Division; Semifinals – Women’s Division), players will compete head-to-head in two alternating 90-second sets with an opportunity to hit four balls in each set.

Tuesday night’s telecast also will introduce a new team format, with the top-four in the Women’s Division – who will compete in Wednesday night’s semifinal matches – being paired with the four highest-ranked men in the Open Division not having advanced from the Round of 32. The four, two-person “mixed” teams will face off in a match play bracket format that will use the aggregate yardage of each team member’s longest drive in the set versus that of their opponent’s aggregate yardage.

2017 WLDA SEASON RECAP: The Volvik World Long Drive Championship will serve as the culmination of the 2017 WLDA season that already has produced a number of dramatic moments, led by the two televised events, along with several other events over the course of the past several months, including:

The announcement was made by Joni Comstock, senior vice president for championships, NCAA, and Mike McCarley, president, Golf, NBC Sports. This partnership encompasses all media rights, worldwide, for Golf Channel’s presentations of the national championships and extends through 2029.

“This is an important day for NCAA golf, our student-athletes, coaches and fans,” said Comstock. “The partnership with Golf Channel has resulted in live broadcast of several milestone moments in both the men’s and women’s championships over the last several years and we anticipate more exciting moments in the years ahead. Providing access and a media platform that gives our golf student-athletes more visibility and news coverage shows unified support for the game. This also allows others the opportunity to see the outstanding play of our student-athletes who excel in the classroom and on the course.”

“There is an inherent passion to traditional college sports on television that we’ve seen translate incredibly well to the golf course,” said McCarley. “Our partnership with the NCAA has exceeded our expectations because each year the men’s and women’s national championships seem to produce some of the most exciting moments on the golf calendar. The coverage has not only helped elevate the collegiate game, but also introduced some of golf’s future stars to the sport’s broader audience.”

Golf Channel has provided live coverage of the men’s national championships since 2014 and the women’s national championships since 2015, when both events began consecutive championships at the same host venue. Golf Channel’s live coverage includes Monday’s final round, crowning the individual national champions, as well as Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s eight-team match-play tournament, crowning the team national champions. In addition, Golf Channel applies its comprehensive portfolio of news, digital and social media coverage teams onsite at the national championships, and covers collegiate golf year-round through all of its platforms, including Morning Drive, Golf Central, news specials for regional and national qualifying, Golf Channel Digital, instructional platforms and special events.
