2013 MLB POSTSEASON ON TBS WILD CARD WATCH
Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 1, TBS will exclusively televise the American League and National League Wild Card games and will once again provide coverage of all four MLB Division Series and exclusive coverage of the National League Championship Series. TBS MLB analysts Dennis Eckersley, Ron Darling and Cal Ripken share insight on the final stretch of the regular season and look ahead at the postseason:
Dennis Eckersley’s Five Teams to Watch down the stretch:
“The Cardinals have had clutch hitting all year long. Adam Wainwright and their young power arms will secure the NL Central.”
“Will [Justin] Masterson return? Can [Ubaldo] Jimenez continue his success? [Chris] Perez has been very shaky, but the Indians have a soft schedule so they have a good chance to make the postseason.”
“[Clay] Buchholz is back in their deep starting rotation. The Red Sox have dominant pitching and the offense will lead them to the best record in the American League. They could possibly eliminate Baltimore and New York along the way.”
“The Rays are fading fast. Their pitching may not be enough and the lack of offense could be their demise.”
“The Rangers are going to have a hard time catching the Oakland A’s with their lack of offense but [Yu] Darvish and company should get them one of the Wild Card spots.” |
MLB ON TBS QUOTES OF NOTE
Cal Ripken on…
- …the National League Central: “It feels like the Reds are getting hot at the right time. I’d like to see Pittsburgh [win] just from a fans’ perspective but I think Cincinnati is positioning themselves pretty well in this last month.”
Ron Darling on…
- …the Boston Red Sox with the postseason on the horizon: “Their offense has been unbelievable and [closer] Koji Uehara has been almost [Mariano] Rivera-like, almost perfect. They are cruising to the AL East crown.”
- …the Cincinnati Reds in September: “I think the Reds are making their move. They have not had a great winning streak yet and they are too good of a team not to have a great streak.”
SUNDAY MLB ON TBS
- Kansas City Royals @ Detroit Tigers with Brian Anderson (play-by-play), Cal Ripken and John Smoltz (analysts) in the TBS broadcast booth.
- Sunday, Sept. 15, at 1 p.m. ET from Comerica Park
