Nate Smeltz Named Vice President of Turner Sports Content Communications;
Jenn Toner Promoted to Vice President of Turner Ad Sales and Sports Business Communications
Jenn Toner has been elevated to vice president of Turner Broadcasting Ad Sales and Sports Business Communications and Nate Smeltz has been named vice president of Turner Sports Content Communications, it was announced today by Sal Petruzzi, senior vice president of sales, distribution and sports communications, Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. Smeltz will be based in Atlanta and Toner in New York, with both reporting to Petruzzi.
Smeltz, a 12-year media public relations executive, will be responsible for managing the linear and digital publicity initiatives for Turner Sports. Most recently, Smeltz served as ESPN’s Director of Communications where he was responsible for overseeing the public relations initiatives for the network’s NBA and MLB content.
Toner, who began her career at Turner Broadcasting in 2000 and was previously director of public relations, will continue spearheading ad sales publicity for the company’s portfolio of entertainment, kids, news, sports and young adult brands and platforms. Within her expanded role, Toner will add communications oversight for Turner Sports marketing initiatives and the new Turner Live Events group.
“Jenn has been invaluable in promoting Turner Ad Sales initiatives that have further expanded the awareness for our broad portfolio of brands and platforms, as well as for our advertising partners” said Petruzzi. “Her knowledge, skills and experience at every level of communications and media relations make her a great fit for this expanded role.”
Petruzzi added, “Nate will add depth and leadership to the Turner Sports communications department in Atlanta. His diverse and forward-thinking style, as well as his strong relationships across the industry, will benefit our strategic communications and publicity initiatives for our television and digital content and platforms.”
