WHO ARE MLB’S “ALL-STARS AMONG US?” – Major League Baseball and PEOPLE this week announced the 90 finalists and the beginning of the voting period for the “All-Stars Among Us” campaign, which recognizes individuals who are serving their communities in extraordinary ways. The 90 finalists (three per MLB Club) have been selected from thousands of online submissions by fans across the nation who nominated an “All-Star” within their community. Fans can log on to www.PeopleAllStars.com now through June 24 to read each nominee’s inspiring story and vote for their favorite community “All-Star.” All 30 winners (one per MLB Club) will be included in the All-Star Week festivities in St. Louis and honored during a special pregame ceremony at the 2009 MLB All-Star Game Tuesday, July 14 on FOX (8:00 PM ET).

ROSENTHAL: “DON’T EXPECT MANNY TO SAY MUCH MORE” – Since Manny Ramirez’ surprise visit to the Dodgers clubhouse on Tuesday where he held an impromptu meeting with the media and commented on his 50-game suspension, there’s been a lot of discussion on whether or not he should hold a press conference or do an exclusive one-on-one interview with any number of outlets. MLB on FOX’s Ken Rosenthal thinks Manny’s said all he’s going to say. “No one should expect Manny to say anything at length or in great detail. No one should expect him to hold a press conference or sit down for a one-on-one with 60 Minutes. He’s not as polished as Alex Rodriguez, he’s not as skilled with the language and frankly I don’t believe most fans even care about the sorted details. He’s served his time, his reputation is severely damaged and that’s punishment enough.”
ROSENTHAL: CONTENDERS LOOK TO ROCKIES TO HELP PLUG HOLES – With the Colorado Rockies near the bottom of the NL West, FOXSports.com senior baseball writer and MLB on FOX insider, Ken Rosenthal, sees them as the first call competing GMs make when looking for talent to acquire. “Rival clubs fully expect Colorado to be an active seller before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline. The Rockies cannot give away third baseman Garrett Atkins. They are likely to keep first baseman Todd Helton. But right-hander Jason Marquis, closer Huston Street and outfielders Brad Hawpe and Ryan Spilborghs are among the players who could get moved,” said Rosenthal.

Were the indiduals that were nominated for the PEOPLE /MLB ALL Stars notified of their nomination in any manner? Just curious as it is noteworthy to know that someone took the time to submit a nomination whether or not it was actually selected as one of the top 90, then final 30.
Thank you.
