TNT Delivers Slam Dunk Ratings as LA Lakers @ Boston Celtics Becomes Most Watched Regular Season Game on TNT Since 1996
Most watched game on cable since 2004, drawing over 4.3 million total viewers
Game is most watched program of the night in cable in total viewers and key male demos
TNT, the exclusive home of the 2009 NBA All-Star Game, scored with its NBA Finals rematch between the LA Lakers and Boston Celtics on Thurs., Feb. 5 earning a 2.7 US rating for the match-up making it the most watched NBA game of the season on cable (4,311,000 viewers), most watched on cable since Christmas Day 2004 (Pistons @ Pacers), and the most watched NBA telecast on TNT since Bulls @ Lakers on Feb. 2, 1996. The game, won by the Lakers 110-109 in Overtime, also was the most watched program on cable in total viewers and in key demos M18-34, M18-49 and M25-54 for the night. The game also delivered locally drawing huge audiences in Boston 16.1 share and LA 14.1 share.
The game was the first of a TNT NBA Thursday night doubleheader, with the Utah Jazz defeating the Dallas Mavericks 115-87 in the nightcap. Overall, the NBA on TNT is averaging a 1.1 US rating, up +9% through 31 games over last year. The network is also up +23% in total viewers for the season over the same date last year (1,752,000 vs. 1,430,000) and up in key demos, including:

· Adults 18-49 up +28%
· Adults 25-54 up +25%
· Males 18-34 up +20%
· Males 18-49 up +22%
· Males 25-54 up +19%
TNT’s four days of NBA coverage from the 2009 NBA All-Star host city of Phoenix on Thursday, Feb. 12 with a doubleheader featuring All-Star starter Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat taking on Ben Gordon and the Chicago Bulls (8 p.m. ET), followed by the Boston Celtics and their three All-Stars visiting All-Star Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks.
NBA All-Star Weekend festivities tip off Friday, February 13 at 9 p.m. (ET) with the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam with All-Star starter LeBron James joining TNT’s telecast team. The evening will be capped off by Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2009 presented on TNT by Jim Beam at 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT). Beginning at 8 p.m. (ET), TNT will televise exclusive live coverage of NBA All-Star Saturday Night presented by State Farm, which includes the Haier Shooting Stars competition, the PlayStation Skills Challenge, the Foot Locker Three-Point Shootout, and the Sprite Slam Dunk. TNT’s All-Star coverage takes center stage on Sunday, February 15 at 8 p.m. (ET) with the 2009 NBA All-Star Game.
Must-see match-ups continue on TNT during the second half of the season as the San Antonio Spurs take on the LA Lakers on Thurs., Mar. 12, the Cleveland Cavaliers face the Portland Trail Blazers on Thurs., Mar. 19 and the Philadelphia 76ers take on the Boston Celtics on Thurs., Apr. 14.
