NEW YORK – October 6, 2011 – NBC Sports presents coverage of the Emmy award-winning World of Adventure Sports this Sunday, at 5 p.m. ET. Todd Harris brings viewers the sixth episode of the 2011 season from Teva Mountain Games in Vail, Colo. This week’s episode showcases the following four events: the Teva Mountain Games, Red Bull Ride & Seek, the Red Bull 6 Story, and TGR Iceland.
In this Sunday’s episode, WOAS follows professional and amateur outdoor adventure athletes from around the world to Vail, Colo., which hosts the country’s largest celebration of adventure sports, music, and the mountain lifestyle. Athletes will compete in eight sports and 23 disciplines including: x-country, freeride, slopestyle and road cycling, extreme kayaking, raft cross, world cup bouldering, stand up paddle sprint, and others.
This episode will also feature the Red Bull 6 story about pro snowboarder Pat Moore, who for the past three years, has been dreaming of breaking the world record of the highest air on a quarterpipe. With the help of Red Bull, Copper Mountain, and Snowpack Technologies, Pat built a 30ft quarterpipe at Copper Mountain and invited six of the best transition riders in the world to join him with the hopes of breaking the record, which is currently held by snowboarding legend, Terje Haakonsen.
Also this week, WOAS travels from Salt Lake City to Austin on a BMX road trip with some of the best riders during the Red Bull Ride & Seek, with the goal of reaching Matt Beringer’s backyard fantasy playground.
Future WOAS broadcasts on NBC will be November 12 at 4p.m. ET and December 11 at 2p.m. ET.
