WINNIPEG JETS CHAIRMAN MARK CHIPMAN
TO GUEST ON TOMORROW’S “NHL HOUR WITH COMMISSIONER GARY BETTMAN”
NEW YORK (October 12, 2011) – Mark Chipman, Chairman of the Winnipeg Jets, will discuss Winnipeg’s return to the National Hockey League on tomorrow’s NHL Hour With Commissioner Gary Bettman. The show, which encourages fans to call in with questions, airs Thursday nights on NHL.com and on Sirius XM Radio at 6 p.m., ET.
Chipman and business partner David Thomson purchased the Atlanta Thrashers in May and received approval from the NHL Board of Governors to relocate the team to Winnipeg, effective this season. Prior to that, Chipman, a Winnipeg native, previously owned and operated the Manitoba Moose — having brought the IHL (and later American Hockey League) franchise to Winnipeg in 1996 following the departure of the original Jets. He also spearheaded the private-sector group that oversaw the completion and the November, 2004, opening of the MTS Centre, the Jets’ home arena.
NHL Hour with Commissioner Gary Bettman broadcasts live on Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET on NHL.com as well as NHL Home Ice (channel 92 on XM and channel 207 on Sirius Premier – formerly known as “The Best of XM”). The show will re-air on Sirius XM Radio, with archived shows available for download via podcast on NHL.com.
