STAMFORD, Conn. – Jan. 7, 2021 – Star quarterbacks take center stage in a pair of NFL Super Wild Card Weekend matchups on NBC Sports, beginning this Saturday when six-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (11-5) face Alex Smith and the NFC East champion Washington Football Team (7-9) at 8:15 p.m. ET on NBC and Universo (Spanish language). The following night, two-time Super Bowl winner Ben Roethlisberger and the AFC North champion Pittsburgh Steelers (12-4) host Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns (11-5) at 8:15 p.m. ET on NBC, Peacock, and Telemundo (Spanish language). Coverage begins both nights at 7:30 p.m. ET with special playoff editions of Football Night in America.

Brady, who won six Super Bowl titles with New England, helped the Buccaneers earn their first playoff berth since 2007 and is the postseason’s all-time leader in games played (41), passing yards (11,388) and touchdown passes (73).
Washington won the NFC East for the first time since 2015, after finishing in last place in 2019. Smith, a leading candidate for the NFL Comeback Player of the Year award, won his last five starts of the season.

In a storied rivalry that dates back to 1950, this will mark the 139th time the two AFC North clubs play, but just the third matchup in the playoffs. Roethlisberger leads the Steelers in a postseason game for the 22nd time in his career, passing Pro Football Hall of Famer John Elway (21) for the fifth-most in NFL history.
Mayfield makes his playoff debut after leading the Browns to their first playoff berth since 2002, ending the NFL’s longest playoff drought. Cleveland also looks to end a streak of 17 consecutive losses in Pittsburgh.
Al Michaels joins 16-time Emmy Award-winner Cris Collinsworth (analyst) in the booth at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh on Sunday night. Three-time Emmy Award-winner Michele Tafoya will serve as the sideline reporter and McAulay as rules analyst. The matchup will be simulcast on Peacock, and Telemundo will present a live Spanish-language broadcast of the game.
NBC’s coverage of Sunday Night Football is led by executive producer Fred Gaudelli and director Drew Esocoff. SNF is the only show to win 10 Sports Emmy Awards for Outstanding Live Sports Series.
