Airs December 12 on SiriusXM College Sports Nation, channel 91, from the SiriusXM studios in New York City
NEW YORK – December 9, 2014 – Heisman Trophy winners Tim Brown, Eddie George and Archie Griffin will sit down for a special broadcast at the SiriusXM Studios in New York City this Friday, December 12, the day before the 2014 Heisman Trophy is presented to the nation’s top collegiate football player.
The three-hour special will air live starting at 1:00 pm ET on SiriusXM College Sports Nation (channel 91 on satellite radios and on the SiriusXM App) and will be hosted by SiriusXM’s Jack Arute.
Brown and George, both SiriusXM analysts, will answer questions from SiriusXM subscribers in the audience and discuss this year’s Heisman finalists. They will be joined on the show by special guest Archie Griffin, the only two-time winner of the Heisman. All three players will recall their own experiences and emotions when they won college football’s most prestigious individual award.
“We’re thrilled to bring together three of the greatest players in college football history to share their thoughts on the Heisman Trophy and this year’s finalists for the award,” said Steve Cohen, SiriusXM’s SVP of Sports Programming. “Those in studio with Tim, Eddie, Archie and Jack, as well as those listening around the country, will be treated to a very insightful look back on the year in college football.”
Tim Brown became the first wide receiver to be awarded the Heisman Trophy in 1987. He set 19 school records during his career at Notre Dame and was a two-time All-American. Brown was selected sixth overall in the 1988 draft by the Los Angeles Raiders and went on to star for that franchise for 16 seasons before finishing his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A member of the NFL’s 1990s All-Decade team, Brown was voted to nine Pro Bowl teams. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2009. Brown is now a host on the SiriusXM College Sports Nation and SiriusXM NFL Radio channels.
Eddie George became Ohio State University’s sixth Heisman Trophy winner in 1995 after an All-American senior season in which he gained 1,927 yards rushing and scored 24 touchdowns. He was selected by the Houston Oilers in the first round of the 1996 NFL Draft and went on to win Rookie of the Year honors and become a two-time All-Pro and four-time Pro Bowl player. He was enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame in 2011. George now hosts on the SiriusXM College Sports Nation channel.
Archie Griffin, the only two-time winner of the Heisman Trophy (1974 and 1975), was Ohio State’s starting tailback for four years, led the Buckeyes to four Big Ten Conference titles, and was a three-time first-team All-American. He also graduated from Ohio State early with a degree in industrial relations, and received the NCAA’s prestigious Top Five Award for combined excellence in athletics, academics and leadership. He was elected to the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame in 1986. Griffin will be in NYC on behalf of the Wendy’s High School Heisman program, which celebrates high school seniors across the country who excel in academics, community leadership and athletics.
After the debut broadcast, the program will be available on SiriusXM On Demand for subscribers via the SiriusXM Internet Radio App or online at SiriusXM.com.
