Listeners nationwide can hear third jewel of the Triple Crown live tomorrow, June 11
“Down The Stretch” program offers pre-race coverage starting at 10 am ET; Racing fans will hear interviews with famed jockeys Steve Cauthen, Angel Cordero, Jesus Castanon and others
NEW YORK – June 10, 2011 – Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ: SIRI) will offer listeners nationwide comprehensive coverage of the third jewel of thoroughbred racing’s Triple Crown, the Belmont Stakes, from Belmont, NY, tomorrow, June 11.
SiriusXM’s horse racing talk show, Down The Stretch, hosted by acclaimed track announcer Dave Johnson and journalist Bill Finley, will offer nine hours of Belmont coverage starting at 10:00 am ET on race day, on Sirius channel 93 and XM channel 209.
The broadcast will include the live race call from Belmont Park featuring legendary track announcer Tom Durkin (post time: approximately 6:36 pm ET). The race broadcast will also be available to listeners on SiriusXM Internet Radio and through the SiriusXM Internet Radio App for the Apple iPad, iPhone, iPod touch and several BlackBerry and Android-powered smartphones.
Down The Stretch’s extensive coverage will include pre-race odds and analysis as well as interviews with renowned jockeys Steve Cauthen, who won the Triple Crown aboard Affirmed in 1978, Angel Cordero, Jr., who rode Bold Forbes to the winner’s circle at the 1976 Belmont, Jesus Castanon, who rode Shackleford to victory in the Preakness Stakes on May 21, plus veteran broadcaster Charlsie Cantey and others. Following Saturday’s race, Johnson and Finley will stay on air to provide listeners with post-race analysis and a recap of the day’s action.
SiriusXM listeners can also hear Horse Racing Radio Network’s (HRRN) live race broadcast from Belmont Park (5:00-7:00 pm ET) on Sirius channel 92 and XM channel 207. SiriusXM offers HRRN’s broadcasts of all three Triple Crown races as well as a select number of stakes races throughout the year.
