SiriusXM NASCAR Radio to broadcast from the NASCAR Hall of Fame and several events around Charlotte, featuring interviews with many of the sport’s biggest stars
NEW YORK – May 17, 2011 – Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ: SIRI) announced today that it will present live coverage of the NASCAR Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Charlotte, NC, on Monday, May 23, on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (channel 90 for Sirius subscribers and XM Premier subscribers), plus broadcasts from the NASCAR Hall of Fame and other events in and around Charlotte involving many of the sport’s biggest stars.
On Monday, May 23, starting at 6:00 pm ET, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio will broadcast live from the red carpet at the NASCAR Hall of Fame with hosts Dave Moody, a Hall of Fame voting panel member, and Danny ‘Chocolate’ Myers providing pre-ceremony coverage and interviews. At 7:00 pm ET, listeners will get live coverage as NASCAR’s second Hall of Fame class – featuring legendary drivers Bobby Allison, Ned Jarrett, David Pearson, Lee Petty, and owner Bud Moore – is enshrined. Following the ceremony, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio’s Claire B. Lang will speak with inductees and family members about their thoughts on the day and their memories of the careers of NASCAR’s newest Hall of Famers.
SiriusXM NASCAR Radio will also offer coverage of a number of other events in and around Charlotte before and after the NASCAR Hall of Fame festivities.
Claire B. Lang will broadcast live from the NASCAR Hall of Fame induction dinner on Wednesday, May 18, from 7:00-10:00 pm ET. Anticipated guests on the show include Ned Jarrett, Bobby Allison, David Pearson, Bud Moore, Junior Johnson, and Richard Petty.
SiriusXM NASCAR Radio will have live coverage of the NASCAR Sprint Pit Crew Challenge from the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte on Thursday, May 19, starting at 7:00 pm ET.
On Saturday, May 21, starting at 6:30 pm ET, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio will broadcast the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race live. The non-points event features NASCAR’s best drivers competing under the lights at Charlotte Motor Speedway for a $1 million first-place prize.
In addition to the All-Star Race, SiriusXM’s live race coverage will include the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race (Friday, May 20, 7:45 pm ET) and the John Deere Dealers 250 Presented by Pioneer NASCAR Nationwide Series race (Sunday, May 22, 1:30 pm ET).
Dave Moody and Angie Skinner will host their daily show, Sirius Speedway, live from the Victory Lane Indoor Karting Center in Charlotte for the “King’s Cup” charity event on Tuesday, May 24 (3:00-7:00 pm ET). The annual go-kart race, which benefits the Paralyzed Veterans of America, is led by Richard Petty and features NASCAR drivers Greg Biffle, Brad Keselowski, Kurt Busch, AJ Allmendinger, and Martin Truex Jr.
That week, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio will also broadcast from two race shops for their respective “Fan Appreciation Days.” On Wednesday, May 25 (3:00-7:00 pm ET), Moody and Skinner will host Sirius Speedway from Waltrip Pastrana Racing in Cornelius, NC, where anticipated guests will include Michael Waltrip, David Reutimann, Martin Truex Jr. and Travis Pastrana.
On Thursday, May 26 (11:00am-3:00pm ET), Rick Benjamin and Danny ‘Chocolate’ Myers will host their daily show, Tradin’ Paint, live from Roush Fenway Racing in Concord, NC. Expected guests on that program include Jack Roush, Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle, Matt Kenseth, David Ragan, Trevor Bayne, and Ricky Stenhouse.
