Secaucus, N.J., September 22, 2010 – With less then two weeks left in the regular season, MLB Network will showcase key division matchups across Major League Baseball this weekend. The action begins when the AL East first-place and defending World Champion New York Yankees host their division rival Boston Red Sox on Friday, September 24 at 7:00 p.m. ET. Yankees left-hander Andy Pettitte, going for his 12th win of the season, is scheduled to pitch opposite Red Sox right-hander Josh Beckett. Viewers in the Red Sox and Yankees markets will see the second-place Tampa Bay Rays take on the Seattle Mariners at 7:00 p.m. ET live from Tropicana Field. The Yankees currently lead the AL East by 2 ½ games over the Rays.
Saturday Night Baseball features the NL West first-place San Francisco Giants matching up against the surging Colorado Rockies on September 25 at 8:00 p.m. ET, live from Coors Field. Left-hander Barry Zito is scheduled to take the mound for the Giants against the Rockies’ Jorge De La Rosa. The Giants, who are looking to return to the Postseason for the first time since 2003, currently lead the NL West by a half-game over the San Diego Padres. Led by Troy Tulowitzki, the Rockies are 51-24 at home and now trail the Giants by 2 ½ games. Viewers in select markets will see the NL East first-place and defending National League Champion Philadelphia Phillies host the New York Mets at 7:00 p.m. ET. The Phillies, who have won nine games in a row, currently lead the NL East by five games over the Atlanta Braves.
