– “You know what I like about you guys when I watch on film? Versatility. Very important. And the other thing that’s important is this class room stuff. Don’t overlook the importance of this. That’s how you learn, that’s how you take it to the next level.” – Steve Mariucci to Alabama’s Marcell Dareus and Missouri’s Aldon Smith
– “I was very impressed with both guys. How they enjoyed being on the field, how they listened to Warren Sapp, how they took coaching in the film room. They’re smart guys, they’re workers. These kids were very impressive physically, they’re very impressive with the approach that they take because football is very important to them. The latest edition of ‘The Rich Eisen Podcast’ is now available for download on NFL.com and iTunes. First up, the All-Pro tight end of the Atlanta Falcons, Tony Gonzalez, sits down with Eisen for an interview that aired on NFL Total Access. Also on this edition of the podcast, star of a number of sports movies such as “The Rookie” and “Any Given Sunday,” actor Dennis Quaid calls in. Quaid talks about his latest movie “Soul Surfer” out in theaters now which chronicles the true story of a surfer who summons the courage to return to the water after losing an arm in a tragic shark accident. – “It’s not new. These labor fights have been going on since sports unions have existed; the timing now is just sort of dumb luck that all the CBAs in all the sports are expiring at the same time. So if you look back at the history of sports labor negotiations, we have strikes, we have lockouts, we have the decertification back in 1989, it’s not new; it’s just new that it’s all happening at the same time.” – Gabe Feldman on the expiration of the collective bargaining agreements in a number of sports around the same time
– “The hope is the loser says, ‘Alright, I thought I had the ace in the hole but I was wrong so let’s go back and sit down and negotiate. Let’s get this done.’” – Gabe Feldman on the upcoming court case
– “Maybe the only time in my career where I said yes without even reading the script because it’s such a powerful story.” – Dennis Quaid on the movie “Soul Surfer”
