STAMFORD, Conn. – November 23, 2015 – Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) coverage returns to NBC this Saturday, November 28 live at 3 p.m. ET, highlighted by Jermall Charlo (22-0, 17 KOs) defending his super welterweight title against “Silky” Wilky Campfort (21-1, 12 KOs) in Dallas, Texas.
Coverage also features a welterweight clash between Dallas native and 2012 Olympian Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr. (18-0, 15 KOs) and Mexico’s Alejandro Barrera (26-2, 17 KOs); and a super welterweight contest between Erickson “The Hammer” Lubin (12-0, 9 KOs) and Alexis Camacho (21-5, 19 KOs). Marv Albert calls the action alongside analysts “Sugar” Ray Leonard and B.J. Flores. Liam McHugh hosts the telecast, and Todd Harris reports from ring-side.
A LOOK AT THE MATCHUPS
25-year-old Jermall Charlo grabbed his title with a dominant third-round stoppage of Cornelius Bundrage in September. Residing in Houston, Charlo fights in his home state for the first time since a 2013 knockout of Orlando Lora. Charlo built up his resume in 2014 with dominant victories over Hector Munoz, Norberto Gonzalez and Lenny Bottai before shutting out Michael Finney in March leading up to his title fight.
Born in Haiti but fighting out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Wilky Campfort has not lost since his second pro fight in 2009. The 31-year-old has fought professionally in the U.S., Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, and his native-Haiti. He has won six fights since the beginning of 2014, including stoppages of Milton Nunez and Devon Moncrieffe. In his last contest in September, he stopped Ronald Montes in the second round.
A member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic team who boasted a highly decorated amateur career, the 25-year-old Errol Spence Jr. looks to put on a show in front of his hometown Dallas crowd. Spence Jr. is widely regarded as one of the top prospects in the sport, and was dominant in his PBC debut on April 11 on NBC as he defeated Samuel Vargas by fourth-round knockout. He followed that up by stopping Phil Lo Greco in the third round on June 20. Most recently, Spence Jr. defeated South African Chris van Heerden in an eighth-round knockout in September.
Fighting out of Monterrey, Mexico, Alejandro Barrera fights in the U.S. for the second time in his career on Saturday after picking up a victory over John Mackey in Atlanta, Ga., in 2012. The 29-year-old won his first 19 bouts after turning pro in 2007, and enters this fight with three straight victories, including triumphs over Juan Montiel and Jose Macias in 2015.
Since making his pro debut almost two years ago, 20-year-old undefeated Erickson Lubin has knocked out nine of his 12 opponents, six in the first round. Lubin faces 34-year-old Alexis Camacho on Saturday, who began his pro career with 16 consecutive wins (15 by knockout).
