PEREIRA: YOU MAKE THE CHANGE – Have you seen a rule in the NFL that you disagree with? Now, now you have the chance to make your voice heard via Twitter prior to the Super Bowl. On Friday, Feb. 1 (1:00-3:00 PM ET) NFL on FOX rules analyst Mike Pereira asks fans to send rules they want to see changed to his Twitter feed (@MikePereira) using the hashtag #ChangeTheRule. Pereira reviews all suggestions and interacts with fans to see which rule changes are desired by most NFL fans. At the conclusion of the submission time, Pereira selects the top two tweeted rule proposals and will present to the NFL this offseason.
HAMMOND AND MCREYNOLDS EXCITED FOR GEN-6 CAR – NASCAR on FOX and SPEED analysts Jeff Hammond and Larry McReynolds offered their takes on the new Gen-6 car to FOXSports.com and talked about what it will mean for racing this season. Both agree that the Gen-6 car is more accessible to the fan, and both are excited for the possibilities it brings this season.
“The manufacturers have done an outstanding job as far as identification. That’s for all you fans out there that aren’t necessarily a Dale Jr., Jimmie Johnson or Tony Stewart fan, but a fan of Chevrolet for example,” said Hammond. “Now your make resembles something you can go down to your local dealership and ask for.”
“I’ve been around NASCAR for over 30 years and I’ve seen a lot of changes,” said McReynolds. “As we get ready for 2013, I’ve never seen so much energy and excitement as I’ve seen about this new Gen-6 body style,” said McReynolds. “It looks like a race car and more relevant to what the consumer can buy and drive on the streets.”
“In Daytona, I think it’s all but going to put an end to bump-drafting,” McReynolds added, citing differences in the car’s bumpers. “It’s going to take a little bit of a step back in time when these drivers actually had to draft one another. They’re going to have to figure out exactly how close to get to the driver in front of them. This 55th running of the Daytona 500 with the Gen-6 car could be the most exciting one we’ve seen in a long time.”
GAME BEFORE THE GAME KICKS-OFF SUNDAY ON FOX SOCCER – This Sunday, the first ball kicked won’t be a football as FOX Soccer is home to a crucial Barclays Premier League match between defending league champion Manchester City and Liverpool live, Sunday, Feb. 3 (10:30 AM ET). STRAHAN JOINS ST. JUDE CHILDREN’S RESEARCH HOSPITAL FOR GAME DAY GIVE BACK – FOX NFL SUNDAY analyst Michael Strahan, who appears in the St. Jude GAME DAY GIVE BACK campaign, supports kids battling cancer and other deadly diseases by rallying fans to host Super Bowl parties this Sunday, Feb. 3rd. One of the easiest ways for football fans to be a part of this campaign is to donate to St. Jude patients Brooklynn and Marion this game day. The FOX NFL SUNDAY analyst met Brooklynn and Marion over the summer and they still talk about meeting their friend “Mr. Michael.” Marion is an avid football fan and Brooklynn is a chatterbox who loves a reason to be with friends.
