Kurt Warner 1-on-1 with Steelers Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger:
FL Network analyst Kurt Warner sat down for a 1-on-1 conversation with Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger on not being considered a top passer in the NFL, his ability to extend plays, if he amazes himself and more.
“I can make any throw on the field. I honestly think I can make more throws because of my ability to throw on the run and do certain things. But people are going to say ‘If I am going to take a quarterback that is going to throw for 400 yards’ I probably won’t get mentioned. But I do get mentioned quite a bit when people say ‘I need one quarterback to win a game.’ My name is usually up there and that makes me feel good because that is what it is about – winning.”–Roethlisberger on often not being considered a top passer in the NFL
“I will never give up. That is probably my curse. I am a competitor and I don’t know how to give up. I can’t just go down. I don’t like when quarterbacks – and I know they do it for their own reason – when a guy is coming and they fall down to avoid the hit. To me, I can’t do it. I feel like I can make him miss or I can deal with him, it is the second and third guy I have to deal with. To me it is just the competitiveness; I never want to quit.” – Roethlisberger on his ability to extend plays
“It was big for us, because I felt like I had failed twice earlier in the year. If you look at six minutes and you are down, most likely it is the last drive. I have confidence in myself and the guys to go down and do it whenever we need to do it. Sometimes you have younger guys whether they are rookies or second year guys that don’t know what to expect. To be able to do it, to give them encouragement and let them know it can be done is the added bonus you get out of it.” –Roethlisberger on the game winning drive last week vs. Philadelphia
“I won’t say I say amaze myself. I scratch my head, and think I’m a little nuts, little crazy sometimes. I don’t know, I just get lucky.” - Roethlisberger on if he amazes himself

Pittsburgh Steelers-Tennessee Titans Pregame Analysis and Quotes:
“People just don’t appreciate what Ben Roethlisberger does because he’s not quarterback royalty – his last name isn’t Manning – and he’s not the pretty guy like Tom Brady. But he wins. He’s a winner, and in Pittsburgh they understand one thing: that’s winning football games.” – Marshall Faulk on Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger
“Troy Polamalu changes the complexion of this whole defense. I’ve played against him a number of times, and every time you play against the Pittsburgh Steelers the first thing you do as a quarterback is you find No. 43…Not having Troy out there affects this team.” – Kurt Warner on the Pittsburgh Steelers playing without safety Troy Polamalu
“They have the next man philosophy. [Defensive coordinator] Dick LeBeau has established his defense and principles over a long period of time. They are still ranked fifth in the NFL. [With] the veteran leadership they have, these guys can play the game.” – Deion Sanders on the success of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ defensive despite a number of injuries
“I put the challenge tonight on the inside three offensive linemen: right guard David Stewart, center Fernando Velasco, left guard Steve Hutchinson. If you want to see that 2.9 [yards per carry] jump back to up 5.6, their inside three linemen have to play well today.” – Marshall Faulk on the Tennessee Titans improving their ground game and the production of running back Chris Johnson
“In finding their way, they are losing their identify. I don’t know what they are anymore.”- Steve Mariucci on the transition of the Tennessee Titans under second year head coach Mike Munchak
Quick Quotes:
“One of the hardest things for any quarterback is understanding when to give up on a particular play. That’s what I see with Michael Vick right now. He’s back in the pocket and he thinks he has to make every single play for this football team.” – Kurt Warner on Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick
“I like the way he is progressing. Not only is he making plays physically…he is making some great decisions.” – Kurt Warner on Indianapolis Colts rookie quarterback Andrew Luck
“He has stepped in from day one and been a leader off the field and been a great leader on the field. The reason they are winning is because of this guy.” – Kurt Warner on Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III
“I believe in Alex Smith. He’s not just a game manager anymore; [he] is a playmaker.” – Deion Sanders on San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith
“Besides [Robert Griffin III], [he] has been the most consistent of all the rookie quarterbacks. Now, I haven’t seen the big plays out of him but he’s leading a team that is a lot better than their record, and it starts with his consistency behind center.” – Kurt Warner on Miami Dolphins rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill
