STAMFORD, Conn. – October 16, 2013 – College football’s greatest intersectional rivalry renews this Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC from Notre Dame Stadium where the Fighting Irish host the USC Trojans in primetime for only the second time. Coverage begins with Countdown to Kickoff on NBCSN at 6:30 p.m. ET.
Saturday’s matchup will mark the 85th time the two storied programs will square off. Notre Dame defeated USC 22-13 at the Rose Bowl last November, and has won two of the last three meetings; prior to the Fighting Irish’s 20-16 win at USC in 2010, the Trojans had won the previous eight games in the series. Notre Dame holds an edge in the all-time series, boasting a 44-35-5 record. The two schools have combined for 22 National Championships and 13 Heisman Trophy winners.
Notre Dame QB Tommy Rees and the Fighting Irish enter Saturday’s action following a tight 37-34 win over the Arizona State Sun Devils at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, on Oct. 5, in the 2013 installation of the Shamrock Series. The Trojans are coming off of a 38-31 victory over Arizona in interim head coach Ed Orgeron’s debut on Oct. 10.
