Third Round – Saturday, August 11, 2012
TNT’s Final Round Coverage of the PGA Championship Continues Sunday, Aug. 12,
11 a.m.-2 p.m. ET.
TNT commentators: Ernie Johnson, Ian Baker-Finch, Bill Kratzert and Vince Cellini
Kratzert on the level of play during Round Two yesterday: “The guys were experiencing a golf course that I don’t think they saw in any of the practice rounds. The hole locations were very difficult. Consequently, we saw a scoring average of 78.”
Vince Cellini interviewed Ernie Els on the practice range before his third round:
Els on yesterday’s second round of play: “This is a tough golf course. You had to be patient.”
Kratzert on Tiger Woods’ round yesterday: “Yesterday, his stretch from [holes] five-13 was about as well as I’ve seen him strike the ball all year. It was beautiful to watch.”
Baker-Finch on Graeme McDowell: “He is a fixture on the leaderboards in the Majors in the last couple of years.”
Kratzert on Bubba Watson: “He’s so creative on the golf course. He’s probably one of the most creative players out there, he and [Phil] Mickelson.”
Baker-Finch on Padraig Harrington: “He’s played well in the Majors this year. He’s made all the cuts – four out of four. Only 12 players have made the cut in all four Majors this year.”
Vince Cellini interviewed Padraig Harrington on the practice range before his third round:
Harrington on his level of play yesterday and his expectations today: “This golf course changes directions a lot. I played well enough in the first two rounds tee-to-green. I just have to chip and putt better [today].”
Vince Cellini interviewed John Daly on the practice range before his third round:
Daly on yesterday’s second round: “This golf course is hard whether the wind blows or not. I thought par was going to be right around 77 and that’s kinda what it was, right around there [78 was yesterday’s average].”
Kratzert reminiscing about his first experience at a Major championship: “I could barely spit I was so nervous.”
Johnson comparing the players’ demeanor today vs. yesterday: “We have seen more smiles early in Round Three than we saw all day in Round Two.”
Baker-Finch on how The Ocean Course is playing today: “We may see some really, really low numbers [today].”
